I found this video really useful to put my adjusting mechanism of the screen back together. I believe the screw through the windshield is a plastic type material so no washer needed. The washer goes between the bar and the inside of the windshield. The inside diameter of the rubber washer goes over the shroud of the nut that locks the height in place. Saying that on a rally pro it wouldn't hurt to have an additional washer behind the screw an exterior of the windshield for extra vibration protection.
I reviewed the service manual and the both the diagram and instructions indicate that the rubber washer is to go between the up/down adjust bar and the boss that slides up and down in the 4 position track. It's not supposed to touch the windshield at all. So perhaps the factory is installing it incorrectly and why is it popping out of and around the head of the windshield installation screw. It doesn't go there! Unless the service manual is incorrect? I plan to visit my dealer tomorrow as see what they say.
Let us know what they say but don't be surprised if they quote the manual. Put it this way .... since doing this video I have had zero issues with this washer and the bike is now at about 8k miles. 😏
My dealer has a few pre-2024 900/850s still in stock and all have the washer between the lifter bar and boss. Not between the lifter bar and the windshield. So I ordered new washers and will correct mine. Appreciate all your posts!
Hey GG I appreciate all your videos they have been very helpful. I recently lost one of the windscreen bolts and had triumph warranty it. They gave me a different part for the rubber washer (t3020131) it kinda straddles the windscreen and gives some protection possibly some dampening from wind. I’m going to get three more and replace the rest of the one sided rubber washers.
