That Griswold waffle cooker is awesome............ Never seen one with the stand like that. And it doesn't look like it's broken. Think it's made to come apart, as long as the top and bottom lock together when closed. Think you'll find out it's worth WAY more than your investment.

Hi Taco! My husband had the same problem with his weed whacker. He watched many UA-cam videos until he found one that explained how it works. But he was sooooo frustrated after all the time it took. I don’t understand why they can’t simplify it. Probably made in China. 😮

Yes, the waffle iron is complete. In that condition maybe 50 dollars. Cleaned up in an electrolysis tank or a good vinegar soak to remove rust and then three or more coats of seasoning it's probably a $125 piece in an antique shop. They are fun to cook with but you need a LOT of butter so nothing sticks and the stove top gets really filthy. Bases get lost a lot - you have the high base (there was a short base too) and if you ever see just the base buy it, an easy sell.
The Griswold is great. Clean it up and enjoy the waffles.
Nice Griswold waffle maker. I have one just like it. They're designed to go on a kitchen wood stove. You remove one of the large plates and set the waffle maker in its place. Unless the ring has a crack or something I saw nothing wrong with it. Season and it's good to go making waffles.
Sadly most are bought by people just to hang on the wall and show off. People who want to use them can't afford them anymore.

Nope not rude, they are up for sale if no-one wants the remaining items in a lot for a $1 and I bid. I am doing everyone a favor by bidding and taking the stuff. If I don't bid the auction company and previous home owners have more work to do by boxing up more stuff and then paying more money to get rid of more items.

Got curious about the Griswold........ Found some online, various sites..... And prices ranging from like $200 up to $400 for a set. I know that doesn't mean they're getting that much, but an idea what asking is.

If you want to try restoring cast iron use a tote with water and lye from a hardware store. Soak for 24 hours and remove it and place it in bath of 50/50 water and vinegar . That will neutralize the lye. Use lard and finish it.

that griswold is an easy $100 bill atm.. looks like it goes for around $250 fully restored!
Gris waffle has the high base vs the low base. The high base is more desirable. I restore over 500 pieces of vintage cook ware a year. Your Gris needs a complete restoration. I would not want to sell that to anyone in such a rusty condition.
Glass jugs are going for 50-100 bucks on ebay,,, :-)
