  • Testing out the smoothness factor of Keyframes for the Skydio 2+ and Waypoints for the Mavic 3. To my surprise, the Sydio 2+ does a better job.

So a couple things to mention. I have seen "microjitter" in various drones and camera footage typically when there is a defect in the memory card. I would be curious to know if these cards used in both typically stay with those drones and how much they have been used. Also, UA-cam is notorious for viewing videos to have skipped frames or jitter for the viewer. I personally (on my high-spec phone) saw blips several times during all flights which were indistinguishable from the actual "micro-jitters" you pointed out. I have been flying drones for a long time and I have both a Skydio 2+, Mavic 2 Pro, and a huge cine DJI M600 with Ronin-MX and by FAR I think that the Skydio is super jumpy when flying manually with hardware joysticks and even worse with the phone control. Also, the follow feature I find that footage to be just about completely unusable. And while watching it fly itself for the follow features it scares the crap out of me because it has been dangerously close to hitting many things during flight and zips all around like a drunk toddler on caffeine! I tend to prefer to fly manually and both the DJI drones I have are much more smooth and docile than the Skydio. Good test though. Thanks for sharing.

No, it's not the mem card. I tried that back when I was doing the test. I only use Sandisk high quality 128 extreme cards on all my drones. I'm more of a programmer so I tend to mainly use waypoints or keyframes. It could be just something wrong with my particular drone but I doubt it. The way the gimbal moves.. its just not as smooth as the Skydio when doing the waypoint thing. Don't get me wrong, if I could only have one of the two drones, I'd take the Mavic 3, but the Skydio is better in a few areas.

The footage of the DJI is not as smooth either, feels like a robot is controlling it rather than a person behind the camera. I am sure DJI will refine it though through the years.
