I get looks and questions all the time in mine. Love it especially when I park at the crowded mall in the corner triangles by the stairs. I get a parking spot every time.

I used to HATE these cars. But now that I really look at it I feel like it would be a good Second car just to have fun with. You can hoon all day and not get pulled over because you're not even going the speed limit. Kind of want one now

I've got a 2011 myself. the transmission is actually a regular manual transmission. It has a clutch actuator, and and it automatically shifts, but mechanically, its a manual. that jerky/ delay between shifts is the clutch actuating, shifting, then clutch releasing. Completely normal for it to do that. I've got 26k miles on mine. very easy and cheap to maintain! :D

I love the car.... What's the height requirement for this car??? I'm looking forward to get me one of these babies! But I want it with a CD player, bluetooth so I can listen to my music on my phone along with pandora radio, XM satellite radio, plus I can talk on the phone while driving.
You know what my favorite part about this is? You know that you're supposed to stop before a crosswalk. People who pull over the crosswalks deserve to have people walk on the hood of their car.

This would be a nice car to have if you only plan to drive by yourself of with someone else. But in most people's cases, a mid-size car/sedan, SUV, or minivan is in order.

Why is that? I know it gets great gas mileage and is small, compact, and will get you where you need to go, but the horsepower is awful (most are about 65-70), and it just isn't practical for most people.
+MetsGiantsRangersKnicksNYSports The reason I said that is because the smart provides transporation without waste, you are not dragging around unneeded space, seats and weight that you don't use on a commute or to go to the grocery store as examples. It is great commuter and 2nd car. Also, it is a hoot to drive. The new '16 has a .9 liter turbo charged 3 cyl engine with a higher horse power rating at 89.
So, if I'm clear, if you have a large family to shuttle around constantly, this 2 seater car is not a good option? Thanks for the tip.

@@toddcrumbaker1207 I sold it after I found out the battery costs $27,000 to replace. And even if you have the money, you can't even get a battery because they don't have them here anymore.

@@toddcrumbaker1207 The gas ones are good as long as it's a 2010 or new for the clutch issues. But the 2014 and new fully electric is SOOOO much faster, it's not even funny. My nephew bought a 2014 smart electric. After a couple months, the battery would no longer charge. Luckily he had the extended warranty. It took 3 months of waiting for them to build a new battery for him.

The only problem I have had with mine is the tires. They have frequent problems .
Yvonne Reilly don't buy used tires unless you plan on driving under 55mph. I thought there was something wrong with my car because it would shake on the interstate but then I took it in for tire balance and they told me the tire was damaged. I replaced them and the car drove smooth again.

Hi All. I bought my daughter a 2013 SmartCar FourTwo Passion. She rear ended a car going 12 mph and "totalled" the car. This is not something I would have expected from a Mercedes-Benz. The car is crap and I believe very unsafe. My daughter hurt her knees and her head but was not hospitalized. I contacted Mercedes Customer Support and it was virtually non existent. I will never buy anything from Mercedes again. Awful unsafe car from a company that does not care about its customers! Very disappointing. DO NOT BUY!
Sounds like your daughter needs some more driving lessons. Did she hurt any of the poor people she drove into?
All modern cars are designed to pretty much be totaled even on a 10mph fender bender. Second you just said it's her fault. Of course no insurance or customer service will side with you. Cars are mostly plastic, thin sheet metal, and technology. On wheels. With a shell around passengers that crumple around the passages to absorb impact call crumple zones. And it was totaled due to how insurance process the cost.
