I want to confess. I have allowed a slumbering spirit or distraction spirit or both to cut into the quality of daily time in the Word. Pray for me to see Christ’s victory over this. I can listen to hours of sermons but can’t can’t read even a full chapter without jumping to a different book or looking up a word and getting distracted on the device I used to look it up. Sometimes I believe it is the Lord taking me on a topical study but a lot of time I should be diving deep into the context and I stay surface level. I used to just dose off when I tried to stay focused. Question for you all… what are some verses you use to combat distraction and spiritually rooted drowsiness? When I was a baby Christian and I tried reading a minimal amount one day, I was rebuked by the Lord with Ecclesiastes 8:3 “Do not be in a hurry to leave the king’s presence…”
To counter distraction and spiritual drowsiness, praise and thank the Lord for His great goodness and kindness, mercy and love. Let your heart fill with gratitude as you call to mind the many ways He has forgiven and blessed you, saved you and helped you. This is an effective way to fight distraction and spiritual sleepiness: by simply praising Him. The enemy of your soul will not stay long in the presence of genuine praise and thanks to the Lord. Then, read His Word for its cleansing effect. We are sanctified and cleansed by the washing with water through the Word (Ephesians 5:26). Sometimes, it’s good to simply read for the cleansing effect. Desire cleansing as you read. And read-just read in the same way you would read an article or a newspaper. Just read until the Lord’s peace fills you. Study at a different time; But for cleansing, just read, and know the Lord is cleansing you. The Lord is God Almighty. His Word is truth (Jn 17:17). He is the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy. He dwells in the high and holy place; not with the proud and self-absorbed, but with those who have a humble and contrite spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones (Isaiah 57:15). Amazing! The Lord, who is most highly exalted above all that exists, chooses to dwell not with those who are outwardly important, but with those who are humble and contrite. (A person can be both outwardly important and humble and contrite. However God won’t dwell with them because of their “importance”, but because of their humble and contrite spirit.) I’m praying now for all who desire greater intimacy with the Lord. A cost has to be paid, consistent with the Lord’s message through Angela. But when we pay the cost *before* He comes for His bride, we will be ready; and will be taken in with the Lord to the wedding banquet; like the wise virgins who paid the price for extra oil ahead of time, and as a result, were taken in with the bridegroom to the wedding (Matthew 25:1-13). ✨ Revelation 19:7-8 ✨ “[The] marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. @weallwrong this happens to many, I experienced it recently and The Holy Spirit put me in remembrance of the Word when Jesus went to pray and came back to find his disciples sleeping (Matthew 26), well that pushed me to continue in my reading and push past the drowsiness. I usually use my Bible to read/study and my devise to look up words, which is very needful and will help in your understanding and keeping the Word in context; sometimes our understanding of a word may not be correct. Guilty of all of the above myself. Asking for a deep hunger and thirst for the word and a super close relationship with the Lord. I was literally just telling my teenage son that if we don’t nurture and water our relationship with the Lord it won’t grow. Just like an earthly relationship you need to spend time with that person and give them your undivided attention for the bond to form and solidify into something unbreakable. You can “fast” your favorite foods then - only eat basic minimum necessary during your fasting period - The point is to forego/sacrifice something that our flesh wants
We should have been preparing at least since 2020. Preparing our hearts and minds... Fasting is still a tough one for me. Even after - or maybe because of - years of eating processed (poisoned) food. But denying yourself, taking up your cross, following Jesus and crucifying your flesh is a good thing. The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. So many Christians believe that they will not have to account for every transgression and sin against God. But the word says we will have to pay back every cent. I want to confess. I have allowed a slumbering spirit or distraction spirit or both to cut into the quality of daily time in the Word. Pray for me to see Christ’s victory over this. I can listen to hours of sermons but can’t can’t read even a full chapter without jumping to a different book or looking up a word and getting distracted on the device I used to look it up. Sometimes I believe it is the Lord taking me on a topical study but a lot of time I should be diving deep into the context and I stay surface level. I used to just dose off when I tried to stay focused. Question for you all… what are some verses you use to combat distraction and spiritually rooted drowsiness? When I was a baby Christian and I tried reading a minimal amount one day, I was rebuked by the Lord with Ecclesiastes 8:3 “Do not be in a hurry to leave the king’s presence…”

To counter distraction and spiritual drowsiness, praise and thank the Lord for His great goodness and kindness, mercy and love. Let your heart fill with gratitude as you call to mind the many ways He has forgiven and blessed you, saved you and helped you. This is an effective way to fight distraction and spiritual sleepiness: by simply praising Him. The enemy of your soul will not stay long in the presence of genuine praise and thanks to the Lord.
Then, read His Word for its cleansing effect. We are sanctified and cleansed by the washing with water through the Word (Ephesians 5:26).
Sometimes, it’s good to simply read for the cleansing effect. Desire cleansing as you read. And read-just read in the same way you would read an article or a newspaper. Just read until the Lord’s peace fills you. Study at a different time; But for cleansing, just read, and know the Lord is cleansing you.
The Lord is God Almighty. His Word is truth (Jn 17:17). He is the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy. He dwells in the high and holy place; not with the proud and self-absorbed, but with those who have a humble and contrite spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones (Isaiah 57:15).
Amazing! The Lord, who is most highly exalted above all that exists, chooses to dwell not with those who are outwardly important, but with those who are humble and contrite.
(A person can be both outwardly important and humble and contrite. However God won’t dwell with them because of their “importance”, but because of their humble and contrite spirit.)
I’m praying now for all who desire greater intimacy with the Lord. A cost has to be paid, consistent with the Lord’s message through Angela. But when we pay the cost *before* He comes for His bride, we will be ready; and will be taken in with the Lord to the wedding banquet; like the wise virgins who paid the price for extra oil ahead of time, and as a result, were taken in with the bridegroom to the wedding (Matthew 25:1-13).

@weallwrong this happens to many, I experienced it recently and The Holy Spirit put me in remembrance of the Word when Jesus went to pray and came back to find his disciples sleeping (Matthew 26), well that pushed me to continue in my reading and push past the drowsiness. I usually use my Bible to read/study and my devise to look up words, which is very needful and will help in your understanding and keeping the Word in context; sometimes our understanding of a word may not be correct. Keep pushing, God Bless you, know that you are not alone. Praying for you🙏🏽💞
Guilty of all of the above myself. Asking for a deep hunger and thirst for the word and a super close relationship with the Lord. I was literally just telling my teenage son that if we don’t nurture and water our relationship with the Lord it won’t grow. Just like an earthly relationship you need to spend time with that person and give them your undivided attention for the bond to form and solidify into something unbreakable. She was a leader and they were invading peoples houses. It wasn’t safe no more she say something then I woke up I know hard times are coming. I gotta keep praying for my family. And you’re closer to him and not fear but prepare.

Yes, please do take it to the Lord & pray ahead of time to silence any other voice that would try to speak to you. We have this idea of Jesus that is all love and no wrath, but God is holy & a righteous judge. The Bible says it's a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Lord. Yes, he is merciful. He is the epitome of what it means to love. His heart is pure, but Hebrews 10 says we can "infuriate the Spirit of grace." crucifying Jesus a second time, as if his grace were a common thing. I pray that God out of his abundant mercy will pull you out of any deception & whatever spirit that was that manifested in you, causing that headache would be bound, sent to the pit & that he would reveal to you, the true gospel, which has the power to overcome the temptation of sin, from glory to glory. Grace is not just to cover over our sin. Grace transforms us so we can better reflect the image of Christ on the earth.

I don’t drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, do drugs, fornicate nor have participated in homosexual acts ever, I’ve never practiced witchcraft but did read my astrological horoscope in my past. I wonder if you can stand as tall as me, even if people did the things listed above, I wouldn’t be audacious to accuse them of having a demon/evil spirit within them!

I was listening to this channel last year and boy oh BOY Jesus grew me. (It was randomly in my recommended and I turned to my sister and said, "hey, look, this is one of those false prophets I used to listen to last year. LOL"
We are NOT under Law. We are under His grace. Jesus' yoke IS easy like you said and His burden light, because He carried it for us.

I would love to fast, but I get low blood sugar and sick. I know Jesus hears my prayers though.
You can “fast” your favorite foods then - only eat basic minimum necessary during your fasting period - The point is to forego/sacrifice something that our flesh wants
I was plucked out of a non believing family. They all hate me AND I'm worse than them. I need Jesus.
We should have been preparing at least since 2020. Preparing our hearts and minds... Fasting is still a tough one for me. Even after - or maybe because of - years of eating processed (poisoned) food. But denying yourself, taking up your cross, following Jesus and crucifying your flesh is a good thing. The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing.
Hopefully not coming across as holier than thou... or self-righteous.
