I love Performance and I’m a big fan of both Roeg and Cammel but that guy who said it’s the best Brit gangster film ever made either forgot about the long good Friday or had never seen it.

I like the sense of premonition and precognition in Performance. Interesting that Turner says to Chas 'I want to go with you.'

The best British gangster film ever made.
Only Brighton Rock comes anywhere close.

Long Good Friday is superior in every way.

Ibrighton Rock is a great story and a great film but not the best Brit gangster flick.

I'm not sure that gangster film is the applicable genre. One of the great things about Performance is that it breaks genre expectations. One of the best films I know.

Saw this again tonight. So great. I always wondered what happened to the child actress who played Lorraine

The best British ganster film that has ever been made is -THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY, follower closely by MONA LISA. Both featuring the great British actor Bob Hoskins .

This movie is like a diamond falling from Mars. You have to see it a fwee times and after it becomes very clear.

I have always considered Antonioni's "Blow-up" as foreshadowing the style of "Performance"

maybe they should demolish the house in notting hill/ bayswater and make a park like they did with the house that Fred and Rosemary west lived in.

Its a rip off of Persona by Ingmar Bergman. A much better film.

It's not a rip off at all, they are so completely different films. There are some visual references to Persona and I'm sure it's an important influence but to describe it as a rip off is moronic. Have you even seen this film?
