- Bomber began singing calypso in Grenada, and won a national competition there in 1940. In 1960 he was invited by The Mighty Sparrow (Slinger Francisco) to join the Young Brigade calypso tent.
Swallow's vibrant, fiery and pulsating rhythms of his soca hits have created frenzy.1942 -2020

Known the world-over as King Swallow, Rupert Philo was born on February 14, 1942, in the historic village of Willikies, in the Parish of St. Phillip, Antigua and Barbuda. Rupert Philo began competing in the calypso art form when still a youth, in 1961. His very first hit, entitled Raphael Trujillo
Dr Hollis “Chalkdust” Liverpool, a member of the Revue tent, said calypso tents have been a fixture in this country and should not be allowed to die. He said if the culture of the calypso died, the country would continue to fall apart.
Despite being promised what may be deemed as a lifeline, the Kalypso Revue tent may still have to close its doors. This was the sentiment of tent manager Michael “Sugar Aloes” Osouna, as he stood backstage.
