This is one of my favorite videos on the internet. I remember watching this and wanting to be at that show so bad. To be able to even go to a show, to have friends that I could talk to about what was happening. Listening to this late at night stomping clapping along with headphones in trying to place my self in the crowd tears coming down my face mouthing the words “it’s got me on a bathroom floor praying to a god I don’t even believe in” Since that time I’ve been through a lot, I graduated, joined the navy, traveled, cake back home and have friends to talk about everything with, ones I trust and know are gonna be there. I’ve been to basement shows in the local scene and even have gotten to see Against Me! In St. Louis. Life still isn’t easy, but I like to think it’s better than it was then. I’m glad this video still exists online. I’m glad I found it again, cause things are hard now and listening to this helps. Laura has been through a ton since this time two and she is still going. I’m gonna keep going to. No matter what happens. So at 28 I’m asking again in unison with my eyes closed, “Well, Jesus are you listening, Please don’t let me fuck this up”
I was there, it was amazing. I got there late and the tickets were all gone for the free show, but they lined everyone up and let an extra 20 people in the backdoor after it started and i was like #17. I lived in NH at the time and by coincidence happened to be in LA with my then girlfriend. We went together, but she didn't know them, so she felt bad taking a spot in line for people who were big fans so I saw them by myself. Top 3 concerts of my life, sober, alone at like 3:00 on a weekday.
i bought the new album , and i took run it in my car and after a full play i was just so amazed by that cd... and thtrew it away by the window. 20$ for a crappy shit load of commercial music from the greatest band ive heard.

I wish I had the chance to see Against Me! before they made SFAFC. not because i dont like that album, but because i would love to see them with only a hundred people or so, and so that they would play good music. not their new stuff. earlier stuff, back when you were 9 years old? go watch WNCH. if you knew anything about the band, you'd know how much of a struggle it was for them to find a major label that wouldn't force them to compromise their artistic growth. they've said in countless interviews that they'd never want to make the same album twice. you can't be a 20 year-old anarchist forever. sure say you like the older stuff better. i do, too. but don't try to say they didn't want to be the band they are today.
dude give them a break they have families to feed its ok to make moves to make more money and reach a greater audience everyone and i repeat everyone " sells out " whether you're a band or the guy who doesnt want to sweep floors at white castle anymore so deal with it sides the same people who call them sellouts get pissed when all their albums sound the same. but im sure once you become an adult you'll understand all that
