I am an artist, I enjoy drawing anything I want to draw. Most of my current friends are also artists. We hate on each others drawings because we consider each other rivals. We compete for better art and compare our drawings, but we do it to try to improve and surpass each other. Hate is kinda like support in some cases. In other cases it is just to complain about that content. In that situation for me it would go something like this: Person: "Hey, can you draw me something? Like a wolf or something!" Me: "Sure!" *Gives them a wolf drawing* Person: "Man this sucks, you suck at drawing." You guys see what I mean?
The same thing in my group, but for competitive smash bros.(wii u). Like someone will say a combo they're working on, and immediately we find every way to disprove what they are saying. (Or at least try to)
I like the sentiment in this video. The first openly hateful remark I got on one of my videos was actually cause for great celebration (literally a night out and beers with mates, where we printed the comment out and read it aloud for folks to hear.) The great thing is, anyone on Yutbe who can be bothered to type up a few sentences to insult you is actually HELPING you, by adding their comments and dislikes to the site's engagement algorithms and making sure your video gets seen by more people. The idea that somebody has got themselves all worked up over your opinion and a video on UA-cam (HOOOOLY SHIT! THE SKY'S A-GONNA FALL!) just adds comedy into the bargain.
you know what the funny thing is about haters, they still give you attention. People think love and hate are opposites, but in fact, they are really similar. They both involve intense emotions towards someone/something (for love, it's positive emotions and for hate it's negative emotions), spending time on whatever is loved/hated, and dedication to the person/thing that is loved/hated. The true opposite of love, and also hate, is indifference. The moment someone is indifferent towards someone or something, it's over. So yeah, haters are okay. And you know what they say negative attention is still attention :D

I do actually respond to haters like I do with normal comments but now I usually just laugh it off because most of their insults don't even apply to me. I actually used to like fnaf but only now there are people hating about 'me liking fnaf' on Undertale videos but now I even got out of that fandom and mostly(want) make videos about Danganronpa or animation

I live in Canada and I've been getting hate for joining the Canadian military. So far I've only passed the initial tests (fitness, aptitude, medical, interview) but still people say to me that I'm a murderer and a terrible person. That I'll kill innocent people and a whole bunch of unbased claims. Joey's right, no matter what someone will hate whatever it is you are doing. They are irrelevant however, do what you want to do, don't just act for other people.

As a fiction writer, I've had some people say some pretty mean stuff about my work. I write fantasy, and the need for criticism (and attention, I'll admit) drives me to post my work online. What do I get? I get people that truly enjoy it; but like you said, Joey, there are going to be people that will try to tear me down. Criticism is good-but when it's nitpicking, uninformative; or rather, it's slander, it's going to hurt. But your point of view is something truly special. A friend showed me this video and it's changing the way I think. While i might never be published, I should still keep doing the thing I love... and that's writing inside my own little world. If someone happens upon my work and loves it, then that makes me happy; and if someone happens upon my work and feels it's, well, trash... you know something. That's okay too. All I need to do is check goodreads to have that point proven to myself. Joey, thank you. I just subbed to your channel, and this was the first video of yours I seen, but I can tell you're a well meaning person, and I think you just might have just changed my life.

When you've made a lot of failures in life, it just means you've got a lot of mistakes you get to learn from. Not that anyone should care. Okay, I must say I'm sorry that I'm telling this story right here, but it really seemed like an appropriate moments. Okay. So I have been bullied in school for several years - from 2nd grade to 7th, where it finally went to the "KiVa - state" (I'm not gonna know how to explain that, but when in our school the bullying goes absolutely too fa, the teachers that form our school's KiVa(actually Kiusaamisen Vastainen, against bullying) team dwell into it and try to make it stop the best they can. Okay. Moving on. There was a couple guys in my class that bullied me throughout those years. And I have a bit of a temper, so I never really could just sit by and let them talk shit about me as they pleased. So as they bullied me(talking straight to my face) I fought. I yelled at them and tried to make them realize I didn't care(well, even tho I OBVIOUSLY did care - there are only a few if even those few that don't). Well, before 7th grade one of them went to another class, and after 7th grade the other did too, so I finally got left alone(even tho in 7th grade, as the grades got switched and I got to a wholly new class the other boy got the new boys there to bully me too), and I - I, NOT HIM - started regretting. For those years I truly hated those people for doing that to me and I didn't understand. But to be honest I'm almost too good at forgiving people. So after I got to cool down for a little bit, I started to remember that I also had said some harsh words. And I could remember one time when I said there had to be something wrong with that boy(the other bully) and there was actual hurt in his eyes. And I started to really regret that. So I, the girl who was bullied, went to the WhatsApp we all know so well... and I sent him an apology message. I apologized to him about the bad words I had said and said whatever I could to at least try to make some his possible wounds heal. I mean, I have a lot of scars because of all the mean words I don't even REMEMBER, and I figured maybe he had some too. And one thing I'm actually kinda happy about is that after I sent that message, not once have we talked and not once has he said something nasty to my face. It could be because we're now in different classes and all, but... Yeah. That was the one time in my life(and I really don't know any other cases like this) that the bullied apologized to the bully. I guess sometimes people can't hate their haters even tho they wanted to. Hating eats on a person, y'now. It's tiring. I just got sick of that, I guess. And because I know how hating feels, it makes me sad that haters hate people even without proper reasons. It's sad because their words hurt, but it's sad also because of the haters. I really think it leaves some kind of scars on them, too. Btw - the message was sent exactly one year ago. Kinda awesome.

I think I got my first chain of dislikes recently and I was kinda upset at first but then I just kinda meme'd it up and said "cant c da h8rs" because I realized I also don't give a fuck if people don't like my content. It takes a long time to get there, but as Joey said, there will always be people who hate you and wondering about the reasons and trying to fix it to please them won't get you anywhere and it's a waste of your precious time and energy. It's true that no matter what you do or say, there are going to be those that won't like you or what you do. However, it can be pretty hard to deal with, especially if you're more emotionally sensitive than those around you and don't know how. Still, a different but interesting perspective on taking criticism.
I had a friend.. He was a good guy and there were no problems between us.. One day he started to hate me while nothing changes with our other friends.. He turned our other friends against me.. This all happened right after his dad died... Can you explain that? It hurt, allot. I did have another friend who I met shortly after out of random chance. But he moved a little while after... But since the start of grade 4 (when I started at a new school where all this happened) I had two friends who were girls and being with them made me feel so much better. Or, well, Just seeing one of them, yes, she made me happy just by seeing her. Maybe it was love... Well, I did grow attached and always wanted to be with her
You've never offended me Joey, most people haven't in fact. But I guess that's just because I'm mature enough to know that everyone had their own personal interests and I shouldn't get offended if someone says something I disagree with or someone doesn't like my style. It's all about realizing that people aren't just people, they're someone who has lived a 100%/unique life and had developed their own preferences from their experiences and because no one will ever have the same experience, no one will has the same preferences. Of course, some will be similar, but somewhere along the line, you'll disagree, and I get it, so I'm not offended.
Most people are narcissist because they don't go outside. You, are a social person, I know, even if I'll never get to see it, that you have a joyful personal life. And that your personality like anyone else, is a combination of differing opinions. And some people are like that too. But some people just do things just because they're spontaneous. That being said, haters are just as bad as "likers" in the sense that some do say things or do things for no reason. They passively consume the content you make. Without conscious thought or any decision making. That's why you can't really gauge how well you're doing with a "thumbs up" and a "thumbs down" button system. You might get positive feedback from it but it won't tell you if you're doing great, doing good, or meh. It's just that people "like" what you've put out. Content creators use all of their time to put in the work to make videos but they frequently forget that sometimes their being lead away from what they most wanted in life. Is it really to get videos out? Is it really to entertain people? Or is it because they wanted their ego to be stroked by the amount of views and likes their video gets? It's a trick question because anyone that has decided to stand up in front of an audience will inevitably cater to that audience. But are the roots as deep as the achievements made? Or have you been focusing on the wrong thing this whole time? I say this because the amount of likes and dislikes, whether or not you have haters or "fans" shouldn't matter, regardless. But maybe this is the wrong video to say that but I hoped I've given you something to think about.

I for instance,used to dislike Joey's rant videos because i subbed him for his different kind of videos and wanted to express my opinion of not liking that video by clicking "dislike" button...
But now joey only makes rant videos so i unsubbed from him,it is that simple...I do not hate his guts or anything,he is just a UA-camr that does kind of videos that does not interest me...
so to make it simple, you don't like him, right? '3'?

When you know somebody doesn't hate you, you're doing something wrong.
The fact that someone hates me for doing digital art only makes me want to create more because digital art makes me happy.
I think I got my first chain of dislikes recently and I was kinda upset at first but then I just kinda meme'd it up and said "cant c da h8rs" because I realized I also don't give a fuck if people don't like my content. It takes a long time to get there, but as Joey said, there will always be people who hate you and wondering about the reasons and trying to fix it to please them won't get you anywhere and it's a waste of your precious time and energy. Don't give 'em the time of day, yo. You do you and as long as you're not hurting anyone, you're golden.

Joey senpai is surprisingly good a peptalks like this. and he does make a valid point with this too. You must not be devastated by the haters, but feed off of their hate. let them fill you with power. (and determination (sorry had to))
It's true that no matter what you do or say, there are going to be those that won't like you or what you do. However, it can be pretty hard to deal with, especially if you're more emotionally sensitive than those around you and don't know how. Still, a different but interesting perspective on taking criticism.

I had a friend.. He was a good guy and there were no problems between us.. One day he started to hate me while nothing changes with our other friends.. He turned our other friends against me.. This all happened right after his dad died... Can you explain that? It hurt, allot. I did have another friend who I met shortly after out of random chance. But he moved a little while after... But since the start of grade 4 (when I started at a new school where all this happened) I had two friends who were girls and being with them made me feel so much better. Or, well, Just seeing one of them, yes, she made me happy just by seeing her. Maybe it was love... Well, I did grow attached and always wanted to be with her

You've never offended me Joey, most people haven't in fact. But I guess that's just because I'm mature enough to know that everyone had their own personal interests and I shouldn't get offended if someone says something I disagree with or someone doesn't like my style.
It's all about realizing that people aren't just people, they're someone who has lived a 100%/unique life and had developed their own preferences from their experiences and because no one will ever have the same experience, no one will has the same preferences.
Of course, some will be similar, but somewhere along the line, you'll disagree, and I get it, so I'm not offended.
But the real question is...
What DOES Joey taste like?

I want thank you for making this video. I had to live with a hater for a year. til that person moved out. and I felt like a million bucks afterwards.
Most people are narcissist because they don't go outside. You, are a social person, I know, even if I'll never get to see it, that you have a joyful personal life. And that your personality like anyone else, is a combination of differing opinions. And some people are like that too. But some people just do things just because they're spontaneous.
That being said, haters are just as bad as "likers" in the sense that some do say things or do things for no reason. They passively consume the content you make. Without conscious thought or any decision making.
That's why you can't really gauge how well you're doing with a "thumbs up" and a "thumbs down" button system. You might get positive feedback from it but it won't tell you if you're doing great, doing good, or meh. It's just that people "like" what you've put out.
Content creators use all of their time to put in the work to make videos but they frequently forget that sometimes their being lead away from what they most wanted in life. Is it really to get videos out? Is it really to entertain people? Or is it because they wanted their ego to be stroked by the amount of views and likes their video gets?
It's a trick question because anyone that has decided to stand up in front of an audience will inevitably cater to that audience. But are the roots as deep as the achievements made? Or have you been focusing on the wrong thing this whole time?
I say this because the amount of likes and dislikes, whether or not you have haters or "fans" shouldn't matter, regardless. But maybe this is the wrong video to say that but I hoped I've given you something to think about.
