Thanks for the comment. 2000 txt messages in one day, I guess my experience wasn't as bad as it seemed. They even called back after I posted the video so I told them if they called, texted or sent me another email I would contact the Attorney Generals office in my state. That seems to have worked - so far no more calls today.

Hi Phyllis. FYI...more than 80 % of the corporations in the US are Delaware corporations. The vast majority of international corporations that do business in the US are set up in Delaware. My company is a Delaware corporation. My attorney set it up. The reason corporations use Delaware is that the laws in Delaware are designed to protect the corporation in cases of law suits such as yours. When you sue a Delaware corporation you have to sue the corporation IN the state of Delaware and then the laws weigh in favor of the corporation. Delaware makes so much money on the corporations that the citizens of Delaware don't have to pay state income taxes. You should always use either a credit card or Paypal for transactions over the internet. For example, AMEX always weighs on the side of the customer in disputes. And ALL credit card processing companies have the right and obligation to with hold payments to businesses and they will do a charge back on contested charges. When a company has too many charge backs the processing company will cancel their account. Also, the processing company will usually charge the seller a fee for the charge back so the company you bought the info from not only did not get the dollar but they had to pay a service fee for the charge back. I've only had a couple errors in the 30 + years that I've been in business and I have caught the error myself and requested the adjustment immediately so my processing company did not charge me a fee as they had not yet transferred the money to my account. I informed my customer of the error and sent them copies of the correction on my end and asked them to check their accounts the next business day (s) to be sure they were not charged the error. I am an honest businessman. Not every business person out there in honest. My best advice is to either use AMEX or Paypal for over the net purchases.
Well, I had someone use my Paypal account to buy something in England so even they aren't completely safe! I asked Paypal to delete my information and they never assured me they did that. Don't use them anymore.
I was scammed by Paypal about 10 years ago-about $1000.00 My bank could get some back but I was out $400.00 they couldn't trace. I never used Paypal again and I never will.
I was scammed also. My bank took care of it. I check my accounts every day and sometimes a few times a day if I used my debit card That day. I have learned a lot from your video! Now Delaware will always sound a warning for me. Thanks for sharing!
This was wrong with Phyllis not to take on some of the responsibility herself. We cannot be let around by the nose. We have to take responsibility for making sure that what we have in our life for income is not taken from us by different kinds of scammers. Banks are not our daddy's. Banks are just a place where we put our funds. So I know what you're saying. But after being a paralegal in Philly, Corporate crooks are the worst crooks of all...
I wonder how many people get scammed and do nothing, these scammers must make millions... My mama always told me, lesson #1 in life... "the squeaky wheel gets the oil". I too have been a victim of a scam through buying something using a 1-800 number or over-the-internet and they do just exactly what you said they did to you and it is so hard to get it stopped. Please continue your helpful videos because they do help so many people!
Thanks Phyllis I was scammed also on the Internet for wrinkle cream that was Free, but I had to pay the shipping for the free cream. Even before I could use the cream to see if it was good, I was charged $109.00 on my card, with a letter saying in another month, they would charge me $118.00 and ship me more cream. They said I signed up for a membership, which I did not. After being persistent, and doing everything exactly as they required, and threatening them with the better business bureau (BBB), I finally got everything cleared up after 2 months, and only had to pay for some postage. The 2 charges on my card were finally reversed. Then, my husband said exactly what you said, ONLY SHOP AMAZON. So thanks for the video reminder, otherwise, I might slip up a second time again too. By the way last month I used Amazon to purchase a spiralizer, and I did not like it when it came. The tool was hard to use, and I cut myself twice. I needed a better one to make better zucchini noodles. The company sent a letter with the product to PLEASE contact them instead of Amazon if I had any problems with the product. So I contacted them, and they were so thankful to refund my money without involving Amazon. So that made me think Amazon runs a pretty tight ship.
Interesting story. I too was "almost" scammed. ....the good thing was i used a gift card. It was a product that grew thick full eyelashes...well i gave them the card info. ...it didn't feel right so i called CSR service. ..they said "the ad says free but that is to apply for membership! ...you will pay $78 a month for product and we will send you what's new in our ordering site... I said oh ok...and ran to Walmart cleaned out the gift card....and giggled ALL the way home...NEVER ever did it again! !.... Sorry to hear you were scammed but glad it all worked out. I am 61, and like you, didn't grow up with the internet and debit cards and all that. My son said to never put my bank info or card number in a site I don't know, or to anyone over the phone. I'm so sorry this happened to you because there but the grace of God go I!!

Roxy77777777 I guess you did t listen to the story. Wells Fargo was the one who helped her immediately. The other bank was the one that dicked her around.
I have an account at Wells Fargo. I had ordered groceries from Instacart. The employee charged my card then stole my groceries. I called Wells Fargo & they reimbursed me no problem.

If I can't do that, and I don't really need it, I'll pass it up. However, I know that there are people out there who haven't been burned and need to see and hear your advice.

I really pay attention now I only buy on a zero account meaning I never leave any thing in after the purchase... I only do Amazon💕💕💕
This seems to be the problem. These companies always want to sign you up for something monthly. I guess they figure people don't check their bank balances and never look at credit card charges and some people probably don't. With this company something told me to check my bank account which I usually only do maybe twice a month. From now on I will check more often. Thanks again for the comment.

Cancel the card an d have it replaced -- if they don't have the right info, they can't charge you anything - regardless of what the culprit is named. Good luck with this scam. Thanks for sharing.
I'm sooooo....glad you didn't back down and challenged the bank! Be careful shopping with Wal-Mart online. My daughter ordered online from Wal-Mart and it was not what she ordered. When she tried to return it they would only refund her with a store credit.
It happened to me too. From an online ad, I ordered an Acai' supplement on approval. I would have 30 days from the purchase date (ding ding ding) to try them, after which $79 would be charged to my debit card and I would be placed on auto-delivery. If I didn't like the product, I could call their toll free number, cancel and be charged nothing. As the 30 days neared an end, I still had not received my shipment. I tried calling the toll free number and got an automated message that the voice-mail box was full. I kept trying for days. I checked with the Better Business Bureau and learned they had received countless similar complaints. None had been resolved because even the BBB couldn't locate the company. On day 29 of my free trial period, I went to my bank to see if I could stop payment. The $79 had already been deducted. The bank rep tried calling the toll free number, too, and got the same message I got. She said they would start an investigation. Then, surprisingly, she returned the $79 to my account on the spot and changed my debit card number so I wouldn't have to worry about further charges. Lesson learned!
nanbrum56 I understand exactly what you went through. My bank was not as quick to handle the problem as yours was. You did good to handle this through your bank. I'll just bet there are thousands of people who have gone through similar experiences as yours and mine.
I had a similar problem with a home security company. After not being able to get a buzzing sound resolved for the whole weekend, they thought that I would continue their service. My dog and I almost went crazy from listening to that noise all night until I finally ripped it out of the wall. That Monday morning I went to my bank, who immediately changed my card so that there would be no further withdrawals from my account. But, the security company continued to call and threaten me for payment and finally turned it over to a collection agency. I wrote a letter to their corporate office, the BBB, and the Attorney General. Problem solved.
Bre94 if you have a contract with a company, the credit card will legally be charged to your new card. You can’t just not like the service and get a new card so the company doesn’t have your number. In many places they can sue you for payment. You should do it the right way if you don’t like the service

So glad she shared this. It happened to me in a worse way. Bank would not help. Credit company put it on me to resolve with the crooks. Some pill that was to be under $10 ordering online ended up costing me several hundred and several months of anguish. I learned a lesson
I have been with Wells Fargo for 15 years and they have fixed a couple bad decisions on my part. They fixed as it as fast as possible. They put the money back in my account the same day before it was even settled. I love them as a bank.
You know I have always found that I get in trouble when I don't wait. I usually find that if a decision is made in a hurry it will invariably get me in trouble. I feel for you dear one. I know how things like that just rattle your nerves.
This happened to me with a credit checking national company and it took months to get in touch with them. Be very careful no matter how 'official' they sound.

YES!!! I love Amazon! They are great! Just a tip use a Wal-Mart Green Dot Card. I Use mine on Amazon and everywhere I shop. Keep your bank card separate ALWAYS.
Erik Henson I know this post is old, but, Be VERY careful with the Wal-Mart Green Dot cards! There's HUNDREDS of complaints against them online! If you try to dispute a charge, they cancel your card immediately and whatever you have on your card while they cancel will be inaccessible! I almost got scammed by them! I signed up for the card, and before I received my permanent card in the mail, I requested a direct deposit form, bc I was going to have my check directly deposited into this card. Thank God I read the consumer reports first, and didn't go through w signing up for the direct deposit, bc they never sent me my permanent card!!! Had I signed up for direct deposit, I would have had NO WAY to access my money! They eventually sent me a brand new card without me even requesting one, w a letter saying, "We notice you signed up for our card and have not used it yet. Here's a new card..." That was very suspicious to me. I use my husband's Wal-Mart Green Dot card but we never keep a lot of money on it, and whenever we have a bill to pay, or purchase to make, we load the card that day, so the money on the card isn't just sitting there. thank you. Internet sales are highly unregulated. How you fare with getting your money back or getting a reoccurring stopped depends on which card you use and your relationship with your bank. I'm very happy you shared this experience.
Yep, I have done the SAME thing only with a tooth whitener product! That too was an every month deal...unknown to me...what a mess and nightmare. Luckily, the credit card company was all about getting it stopped...I was lucky. I always shop Amazon and have had nothing but great service too. Nothing like experience if we live thru it! When you purchase items and you need a credit card to order, best to use a virtual visa, that means it works like a credit card number, but the money must be in the account (works like a debit). When you want to stop payment on something you just cancel the card and ask the bank to send you a new card with a new number!

Phillis, besides Amazon, you can also trust eBay completely. The serious sellers will bend over backwards to make sure you are completely happy because they want to keep their reputation. If you receive something from a one-time seller trying to dump junk or is damaged because of bad packaging but you can't get a refund, eBay will refund your money. I have even received many excellent items that were shipped from Hong Kong and they were so well packaged, they could have gone around the world several times. Last year I bought a Vintage (1957) Mixmaster, stand mixer, Model 12 which included the beaters and both the small and large milk glass bowls for less than $50. The seller believed it had never been used. To my surprise, it arrived in pristine condition and truly had never been used. It works perfectly and then stands proudly next to my KitchenAid, looking exactly like the one my mother had. The $20 shipping charge is where I feel I was ripped off, but with postage constantly going up, we know who the scam artist is there... :-). I guess I shouldn't complain because the mixer is very heavy. You are right about Amazon though. It's a truly magnificent online company -- I have to say that since I own stock in it.

I bought online, just once, through Amazon. Next thing you know, my bank is calling me to say someone (from another state) has used my credit card to buy merchandise from another online site. Amazon is no more safe than any other site, crooked people/employees exist everywhere.
Erzsebet Steinitz I use Amazon frequently, until I received news from my bank. Someone tried to purchase using my card from London, England. My bank caught the suspicious location and denied the purchase. Be careful online.
I know what you are talking about, the same thing happened to me by people claiming they were from MICROSOFT and there was something not working right on my computer. Anyway to make a long story short I got - got really bad. So anymore I never answer a phone call with a number from out of state or open any email that I'm not sure where they are from. Like you, lesson learned.
already miss her, but some advice on the scam thing, like the bank said the scammer will use a different name that the bank won't catch. Be ahead of it by having the bank "issue you a new card with a new number," that will stop any further unauthorized withdrawals
Ms. Phyllis, you said a couple of times "that's no big deal" Yes it is a big deal. That was your hard earned money and you deserved to get it back. I don't understand why people are always trying to scam and scheme people. They need to get a real job. People will do anything for money. I am sooooooo glad that you were adamant about getting your money back. It is not the one dollar or the fourteen, it is the principle of it. Even when we are mild tempered people, (you talk so soft and sound so sweet, I am a calm person also) sometimes people can push you to that point. Great job of being persistent. I too got scammed a year or two ago. I had got out of hospital and had terrible pain in the nerves of my feet. I saw this ad come up from a very respectable looking doctor who said he had spent some years finding relief for his mother. A team of his people found the root of a plant in the Malaysian jungle. It was such a professional talk and I was desperate. After about 1/2 an hour he then showed wonderful packing and said because it was rare you should buy two. Then for special buy four. I spent nearly $1000 and it never arrived. I rang my bank who got in touch with this bank overseas. Within a week my bank refunded me the full amount. I saw recently the same man promoting a different product completely. I too only buy from Amazon and eBay. now.
Aww, Phyllis, I'm sorry that happened. I bought something off of Amazon and it was too small. I used their sizing chart and measured my waist, but it still was the wrong size. I sent them an email as instructed to let them know that I wanted to send it back and they never contacted me to provide the instructions. I'm going to let Amazon, know about it, too. I lost more weight and I was able to get into it so I kept the item, but just the fact they did not contact me as promised!
Great advice and so true I just got scammed having Kitchen paint it to a large amount of money the job is not well done and it’s Sunday today so I will have to wait to call and check out the company that did it which I should’ve done in the first place and then go from there

That is what happened to me...My inconvenience was teeth whitener...I called 'the office'...I told them I had returned the goods...they got snippy with me and then I asked to talk to the floor manager..She got snippy as well..I said let me talk to your manager...she said she was the manager...I said you own this big corporation..she said no...I said well then let me talk to them..she said no...I told her that I knew full well someone is her boss and that I will call them in Clearwater Florida ( corporation) and that I would tell the owners the horrible attitude they have in the California office...Of course ms know it all said how do we know you returned it..I said cause I told you I did...then she went as far to tell me that unless I had a number from UPS, then it will probably sit in the factory under everyone else which told me it wasn't that great... Needless to say when I got done with them they stopped pulling their amount our of my bank...I know how to argue with those kind of people ...As I'm sure you do to Phyllis..
Thank You Phyllis for keeping us informed,I forgot about the DE, Coles Ave. You can go to a Library and look it up for free....It use to come in a big blue book for bigger companies have these,and Bonding owns them because people put their property up ...Buy now I am sure you can get it off the internet,if they try to charge you use your Library...Hope this helps people,also will tell you who owns the name of the property...Oh Coles Ave does businesses too...And you can always check BBB, Also you can tell your bank what's going on and change your acct# But that would be last that I would do...F.Y.I.
Hi Phyllis, I just tripped across this old video and I want to know it’s great advise. I too got scammed on a similar situation. I have been a Wells Fargo customer for the last 30 years and when I called them they opened a fraud case and they made me cancel my existing debit card and they issued me a new debit card. I learned my lesson and it took them 10 business days but I finally got my money back. And this was for $1000 where someone had rented a hotel room at Harrah’s in New Jersey and bought them selves a watch or a handbag from some online company. But boy I know the frustration in getting to a resolution. It did not happen fast enough for my liking. And it was out of my normal checking account and they had dipped into my mortgage payment money. So I was not too happy. But it all got resolved and thank you for your video. I’m sure your warning will help others in the future 😉
+ Phyllis Stokes You can always call the top agents in your neighborhood and have them do a comparative market analysis (CMA) for you for free! I am a realtor, and we do this all the time.
All she has to do is go online to her county tax assessor collector, /Appraised District/property value. Under property values, she types in her address and gets, taxable value, market value, appraised value, everything she needs to know about her property. If she has a printer, just print it out. That's why I am cautious about ordering on line or the phone because I've had similar problems. so when I order something now I have a prepaid card that way I don't have to worry about anyone taking my money lol. But it took me a while to learn but I did. Thanks for this video it really helped me a lot.
Jo Malloy A lot of companies don’t except the prepaid cards, I bought my son a prepaid card while he was traveling and he found out right away he couldn’t use it for gas plus when I wanted to add more money on the card I was charged, I bought the visa card at Walmart never again.
Add to the list - door to door sales of security systems. Took me over a year to cancel a month to month contract. Finally got it cancelled, company was sold again, changed their name for the third or fourth time again and almost two years later, a company I’ve never heard of starts authorizing my locked credit card (which wasn’t even the same expiration date anymore) for $1 every day trying to troll for when I unlocked the card. Reported as fraud and had my card replaced. If I hear from them again, I’m taking them to court. I will never even entertain the idea of buying through door to door or phone solicitation EVER again. A lesson that just keeps haunting us and I pray it’s finally over but will have to watch our account for these scumbags illegal practices for the rest of our lives.

Our old mortgage company would have a " special handling charge" several times a month-Springleaf-this caused so many problems at the bamk. We never paid the same amount every month, it was always different. I became puzzled and my husband became mad. It was a nightmare. So i completely understand when it comes to this stuff. There should be a special place in hell for scammers. Around here, most county assessors have a web site where you can look up any piece of property and see its sales history, who owns it, square footage, and current value, often with a picture.
40 years ago, it was door to door salesmen. I was scammed once and couldn't afford it. Never again and remember, free trials are harder to stop than start.

I wish I had seen this before I did the same thing, I ordered a wrinkle remover , buy one get a tube of something free, I ended up paying 129.99,before I could get it stopped, it was going to cost me 89.99 a month, I couldnt use that much cream if I slathered my whole body twice a day.This can be quite devastating if you are on a real limited income, Thanks Phyllis,I hope many people read and watch your video. Very important fact you ‘re sharing, state laws affect what companies want to base themselves there. They all go to the state that has the least amount of regulation for their business. Keep this in mind whenever your politician says they want to allow health insurance to be sold across state lines for more “competition”. It isn’t for competition, it’s so they can all go to the state with the least amount of regulations where they won’t have to pay for preventative care ie. colonoscopies, mammograms, Pap smears, etc. it’s a great reminder for us all!
Wells Fargo will also cancel your bank card and issue you a new one so that those scammers can't use your old card number again. They are really good about things like this. Also I never shop anywhere else other than Amazon unless its a company I know very well, like Sears, JC Penneys, etc. Thank you so much for doing this video. Scammers get their ear chewed royally when they call me too.
A good option is to use one of those prepaid credit cards and just load a small balance on to it. If you do get scammed with your actual bank card, you can just have then cancel the card and issue a new number.
I believe Brad is advising you do what I do with my credit cards. I have the major one that I've had since late 70's. And then I have the one for online and/or shady purchases. Like one from Delaware... The "online shady"card works for purchases at street venues, festivals, or for travel. Very little if anything to lose if they try to cheat me. I had a green dot prepaid card and someone somehow made a plastic copy and emptied that account. Green dot refunded my money, it's just like a bank. That it's insured or guaranteed. Definitely a decent company if you get a prepaid card
Almost the same thing happened to me. Esteem cream was advertised on the t.v.really cheap. We was trucking & They kept sending pkgs & taking $ out of my account. We was long hauling . After about 3 months I got home & here was all this cream I did not order. I called them & sent the extra packages back to them. I never got a penny from.

Hi Phyllis. FYI...more than 80 % of the corporations in the US are Delaware corporations. The vast majority of international corporations that do business in the US are set up in Delaware. My company is a Delaware corporation. My attorney set it up. The reason corporations use Delaware is that the laws in Delaware are designed to protect the corporation in cases of law suits such as yours. When you sue a Delaware corporation you have to sue the corporation IN the state of Delaware and then the laws weigh in favor of the corporation. Delaware makes so much money on the corporations that the citizens of Delaware don't have to pay state income taxes. You should always use either a credit card or Paypal for transactions over the internet. For example, AMEX always weighs on the side of the customer in disputes. And ALL credit card processing companies have the right and obligation to with hold payments to businesses and they will do a charge back on contested charges. When a company has too many charge backs the processing company will cancel their account. Also, the processing company will usually charge the seller a fee for the charge back so the company you bought the info from not only did not get the dollar but they had to pay a service fee for the charge back. I've only had a couple errors in the 30 + years that I've been in business and I have caught the error myself and requested the adjustment immediately so my processing company did not charge me a fee as they had not yet transferred the money to my account. I informed my customer of the error and sent them copies of the correction on my end and asked them to check their accounts the next business day (s) to be sure they were not charged the error. I am an honest businessman. Not every business person out there in honest. My best advice is to either use AMEX or Paypal for over the net purchases.
Well, I had someone use my Paypal account to buy something in England so even they aren't completely safe! I asked Paypal to delete my information and they never assured me they did that. Don't use them anymore.
I was scammed by Paypal about 10 years ago-about $1000.00 My bank could get some back but I was out $400.00 they couldn't trace. I never used Paypal again and I never will.

This was wrong with Phyllis not to take on some of the responsibility herself. We cannot be let around by the nose. We have to take responsibility for making sure that what we have in our life for income is not taken from us by different kinds of scammers. Banks are not our daddy's. Banks are just a place where we put our funds. So I know what you're saying. But after being a paralegal in Philly, Corporate crooks are the worst crooks of all...
I wonder how many people get scammed and do nothing, these scammers must make millions... My mama always told me, lesson #1 in life... "the squeaky wheel gets the oil". I too have been a victim of a scam through buying something using a 1-800 number or over-the-internet and they do just exactly what you said they did to you and it is so hard to get it stopped. I was scammed also on the Internet for wrinkle cream that was Free, but I had to pay the shipping for the free cream. Even before I could use the cream to see if it was good, I was charged $109.00 on my card, with a letter saying in another month, they would charge me $118.00 and ship me more cream. They said I signed up for a membership, which I did not. After being persistent, and doing everything exactly as they required, and threatening them with the better business bureau (BBB), I finally got everything cleared up after 2 months, and only had to pay for some postage. The 2 charges on my card were finally reversed. Then, my husband said exactly what you said, ONLY SHOP AMAZON. So thanks for the video reminder, otherwise, I might slip up a second time again too. By the way last month I used Amazon to purchase a spiralizer, and I did not like it when it came. The tool was hard to use, and I cut myself twice. I needed a better one to make better zucchini noodles. The company sent a letter with the product to PLEASE contact them instead of Amazon if I had any problems with the product. So I contacted them, and they were so thankful to refund my money without involving Amazon. So that made me think Amazon runs a pretty tight ship.
Interesting story. I too was "almost" scammed. ....the good thing was i used a gift card. It was a product that grew thick full eyelashes...well i gave them the card info. ...it didn't feel right so i called CSR service. ..they said "the ad says free but that is to apply for membership! ...you will pay $78 a month for product and we will send you what's new in our ordering site... I said oh ok...and ran to Walmart cleaned out the gift card....and giggled ALL the way home...NEVER ever did it again! !....

I am 61, and like you, didn't grow up with the internet and debit cards and all that. My son said to never put my bank info or card number in a site I don't know, or to anyone over the phone. I'm so sorry this happened to you because there but the grace of God go I!!

I have an account at Wells Fargo. I had ordered groceries from Instacart. The employee charged my card then stole my groceries. I called Wells Fargo & they reimbursed me no problem.

This seems to be the problem. These companies always want to sign you up for something monthly. I guess they figure people don't check their bank balances and never look at credit card charges and some people probably don't. With this company something told me to check my bank account which I usually only do maybe twice a month. From now on I will check more often. Thanks again for the comment.

I'm sooooo....glad you didn't back down and challenged the bank! Be careful shopping with Wal-Mart online. My daughter ordered online from Wal-Mart and it was not what she ordered. When she tried to return it they would only refund her with a store credit.
It happened to me too. From an online ad, I ordered an Acai' supplement on approval. I would have 30 days from the purchase date (ding ding ding) to try them, after which $79 would be charged to my debit card and I would be placed on auto-delivery. If I didn't like the product, I could call their toll free number, cancel and be charged nothing. As the 30 days neared an end, I still had not received my shipment. I tried calling the toll free number and got an automated message that the voice-mail box was full. I kept trying for days. I checked with the Better Business Bureau and learned they had received countless similar complaints. None had been resolved because even the BBB couldn't locate the company.
On day 29 of my free trial period, I went to my bank to see if I could stop payment. The $79 had already been deducted. The bank rep tried calling the toll free number, too, and got the same message I got. She said they would start an investigation. Then, surprisingly, she returned the $79 to my account on the spot and changed my debit card number so I wouldn't have to worry about further charges. Lesson learned!
nanbrum56 I understand exactly what you went through. My bank was not as quick to handle the problem as yours was. You did good to handle this through your bank. I'll just bet there are thousands of people who have gone through similar experiences as yours and mine.

I had a similar problem with a home security company. After not being able to get a buzzing sound resolved for the whole weekend, they thought that I would continue their service. My dog and I almost went crazy from listening to that noise all night until I finally ripped it out of the wall. That Monday morning I went to my bank, who immediately changed my card so that there would be no further withdrawals from my account. But, the security company continued to call and threaten me for payment and finally turned it over to a collection agency. I wrote a letter to their corporate office, the BBB, and the Attorney General. Problem solved.
Bre94 if you have a contract with a company, the credit card will legally be charged to your new card. You can’t just not like the service and get a new card so the company doesn’t have your number. In many places they can sue you for payment. You should do it the right way if you don’t like the service

So glad she shared this. It happened to me in a worse way. Bank would not help. Credit company put it on me to resolve with the crooks. Some pill that was to be under $10 ordering online ended up costing me several hundred and several months of anguish. I learned a lesson

I have been with Wells Fargo for 15 years and they have fixed a couple bad decisions on my part. They fixed as it as fast as possible. They put the money back in my account the same day before it was even settled. I love them as a bank.
You know I have always found that I get in trouble when I don't wait. I usually find that if a decision is made in a hurry it will invariably get me in trouble. I feel for you dear one. I know how things like that just rattle your nerves.
This happened to me with a credit checking national company and it took months to get in touch with them. Be very careful no matter how 'official' they sound.

Erik Henson I know this post is old, but, Be VERY careful with the Wal-Mart Green Dot cards! There's HUNDREDS of complaints against them online! If you try to dispute a charge, they cancel your card immediately and whatever you have on your card while they cancel will be inaccessible! I almost got scammed by them! I signed up for the card, and before I received my permanent card in the mail, I requested a direct deposit form, bc I was going to have my check directly deposited into this card. Thank God I read the consumer reports first, and didn't go through w signing up for the direct deposit, bc they never sent me my permanent card!!! Had I signed up for direct deposit, I would have had NO WAY to access my money! They eventually sent me a brand new card without me even requesting one, w a letter saying, "We notice you signed up for our card and have not used it yet. Here's a new card..." That was very suspicious to me. I use my husband's Wal-Mart Green Dot card but we never keep a lot of money on it, and whenever we have a bill to pay, or purchase to make, we load the card that day, so the money on the card isn't just sitting there. Yep, I have done the SAME thing only with a tooth whitener product! That too was an every month deal...unknown to me...what a mess and nightmare. Luckily, the credit card company was all about getting it stopped...I was lucky. I always shop Amazon and have had nothing but great service too. Nothing like experience if we live thru it! When you purchase items and you need a credit card to order, best to use a virtual visa, that means it works like a credit card number, but the money must be in the account (works like a debit). When you want to stop payment on something you just cancel the card and ask the bank to send you a new card with a new number!

Phillis, besides Amazon, you can also trust eBay completely. The serious sellers will bend over backwards to make sure you are completely happy because they want to keep their reputation. If you receive something from a one-time seller trying to dump junk or is damaged because of bad packaging but you can't get a refund, eBay will refund your money. I have even received many excellent items that were shipped from Hong Kong and they were so well packaged, they could have gone around the world several times.
Last year I bought a Vintage (1957) Mixmaster, stand mixer, Model 12 which included the beaters and both the small and large milk glass bowls for less than $50. The seller believed it had never been used. To my surprise, it arrived in pristine condition and truly had never been used. It works perfectly and then stands proudly next to my KitchenAid, looking exactly like the one my mother had. The $20 shipping charge is where I feel I was ripped off, but with postage constantly going up, we know who the scam artist is there... :-). I guess I shouldn't complain because the mixer is very heavy.

I bought online, just once, through Amazon. Next thing you know, my bank is calling me to say someone (from another state) has used my credit card to buy merchandise from another online site. Amazon is no more safe than any other site, crooked people/employees exist everywhere.
I've been an eBay seller since 1999 and I also buy from time to time. eBay is a totally legitimate and safe venue to buy and/or sell.

I know what you are talking about, the same thing happened to me by people claiming they were from MICROSOFT and there was something not working right on my computer. Anyway to make a long story short I got - got really bad. So anymore I never answer a phone call with a number from out of state or open any email that I'm not sure where they are from. Like you, lesson learned.

Ms. Phyllis, you said a couple of times "that's no big deal" Yes it is a big deal. That was your hard earned money and you deserved to get it back. I don't understand why people are always trying to scam and scheme people. They need to get a real job. People will do anything for money. I am sooooooo glad that you were adamant about getting your money back. It is not the one dollar or the fourteen, it is the principle of it. Even when we are mild tempered people, (you talk so soft and sound so sweet, I am a calm person also) sometimes people can push you to that point. Great job of being persistent. I too got scammed a year or two ago. I had got out of hospital and had terrible pain in the nerves of my feet. I saw this ad come up from a very respectable looking doctor who said he had spent some years finding relief for his mother. A team of his people found the root of a plant in the Malaysian jungle. It was such a professional talk and I was desperate. After about 1/2 an hour he then showed wonderful packing and said because it was rare you should buy two. Then for special buy four. I spent nearly $1000 and it never arrived. I rang my bank who got in touch with this bank overseas. Within a week my bank refunded me the full amount. I saw recently the same man promoting a different product completely. I too only buy from Amazon and eBay. now.
Aww, Phyllis, I'm sorry that happened. I bought something off of Amazon and it was too small. I used their sizing chart and measured my waist, but it still was the wrong size. I sent them an email as instructed to let them know that I wanted to send it back and they never contacted me to provide the instructions. I'm going to let Amazon, know about it, too. I lost more weight and I was able to get into it so I kept the item, but just the fact they did not contact me as promised!

That is what happened to me...My inconvenience was teeth whitener...I called 'the office'...I told them I had returned the goods...they got snippy with me and then I asked to talk to the floor manager..She got snippy as well..I said let me talk to your manager...she said she was the manager...I said you own this big corporation..she said no...I said well then let me talk to them..she said no...I told her that I knew full well someone is her boss and that I will call them in Clearwater Florida ( corporation) and that I would tell the owners the horrible attitude they have in the California office...Of course ms know it all said how do we know you returned it..I said cause I told you I did...then she went as far to tell me that unless I had a number from UPS, then it will probably sit in the factory under everyone else which told me it wasn't that great... Needless to say when I got done with them they stopped pulling their amount our of my bank...I know how to argue with those kind of people ...As I'm sure you do to Phyllis..

Hi Phyllis, I just tripped across this old video and I want to know it’s great advise. I too got scammed on a similar situation. I have been a Wells Fargo customer for the last 30 years and when I called them they opened a fraud case and they made me cancel my existing debit card and they issued me a new debit card. I learned my lesson and it took them 10 business days but I finally got my money back. And this was for $1000 where someone had rented a hotel room at Harrah’s in New Jersey and bought them selves a watch or a handbag from some online company. But boy I know the frustration in getting to a resolution. It did not happen fast enough for my liking. And it was out of my normal checking account and they had dipped into my mortgage payment money. So I was not too happy. But it all got resolved and thank you for your video. I’m sure your warning will help others in the future 😉

All she has to do is go online to her county tax assessor collector, /Appraised District/property value. Under property values, she types in her address and gets, taxable value, market value, appraised value, everything she needs to know about her property. If she has a printer, just print it out. That's why I am cautious about ordering on line or the phone because I've had similar problems. so when I order something now I have a prepaid card that way I don't have to worry about anyone taking my money lol. I bought my son a prepaid card while he was traveling and he found out right away he couldn’t use it for gas plus when I wanted to add more money on the card I was charged, I bought the visa card at Walmart never again.
Add to the list - door to door sales of security systems. Took me over a year to cancel a month to month contract. Finally got it cancelled, company was sold again, changed their name for the third or fourth time again and almost two years later, a company I’ve never heard of starts authorizing my locked credit card (which wasn’t even the same expiration date anymore) for $1 every day trying to troll for when I unlocked the card. Reported as fraud and had my card replaced. If I hear from them again, I’m taking them to court. I will never even entertain the idea of buying through door to door or phone solicitation EVER again. A lesson that just keeps haunting us and I pray it’s finally over but will have to watch our account for these scumbags illegal practices for the rest of our lives.
Sometimes changing your card number is the only way to stop this kind of thing. I learned my lesson the hard way sounds like you've done the same.

Our old mortgage company would have a " special handling charge" several times a month-Springleaf-this caused so many problems at the bamk. We never paid the same amount every month, it was always different. I became puzzled and my husband became mad. It was a nightmare. So i completely understand when it comes to this stuff. Dont ever think its your fault, they are wrong from the get go and should have never tried. Have a super day and stay out of this heat- my word!🤗🌹🕆
There should be a special place in hell for scammers. Around here, most county assessors have a web site where you can look up any piece of property and see its sales history, who owns it, square footage, and current value, often with a picture.
40 years ago, it was door to door salesmen. I was scammed once and couldn't afford it. Never again and remember, free trials are harder to stop than start.

I wish I had seen this before I did the same thing, I ordered a wrinkle remover , buy one get a tube of something free, I ended up paying 129.99,before I could get it stopped, it was going to cost me 89.99 a month, I couldnt use that much cream if I slathered my whole body twice a day.This can be quite devastating if you are on a real limited income, Thanks Phyllis,I hope many people read and watch your video. Very important fact you ‘re sharing, state laws affect what companies want to base themselves there. They all go to the state that has the least amount of regulation for their business. Keep this in mind whenever your politician says they want to allow health insurance to be sold across state lines for more “competition”. It isn’t for competition, it’s so they can all go to the state with the least amount of regulations where they won’t have to pay for preventative care ie. colonoscopies, mammograms, Pap smears, etc. it’s a great reminder for us all!
Wells Fargo will also cancel your bank card and issue you a new one so that those scammers can't use your old card number again. They are really good about things like this. Also I never shop anywhere else other than Amazon unless its a company I know very well, like Sears, JC Penneys, etc. Thank you so much for doing this video. Scammers get their ear chewed royally when they call me too.
I had this happen to me. I just closed my account and opened another one.
A good option is to use one of those prepaid credit cards and just load a small balance on to it. If you do get scammed with your actual bank card, you can just have then cancel the card and issue a new number.
Getting a new card would be a little messy since we have bank drafts and many other things where we use the card.
I believe Brad is advising you do what I do with my credit cards. I have the major one that I've had since late 70's. And then I have the one for online and/or shady purchases. Like one from Delaware...
The "online shady"card works for purchases at street venues, festivals, or for travel. Very little if anything to lose if they try to cheat me.
The old, old reliable card is safe if I need to bank draft or anything else. Hope this helps!

I had a green dot prepaid card and someone somehow made a plastic copy and emptied that account. Green dot refunded my money, it's just like a bank. That it's insured or guaranteed. Definitely a decent company if you get a prepaid card
Almost the same thing happened to me. Esteem cream was advertised on the t.v.really cheap. We was trucking & They kept sending pkgs & taking $ out of my account. We was long hauling . After about 3 months I got home & here was all this cream I did not order. I called them & sent the extra packages back to them. I never got a penny from.
Sweet Phyllis wanted us not to get scammed. It was so appreciated that she told us about Delaware. I’ve been scammed twice, too. I miss that sweet lady. 😢😢
