sealed vessel does such a great job of telling the player "this isn't a triumphant end, this is not your enemy, this is your brother, he's still in there, and he'll give his life to help you."

Technically the whole point of the hollow knight was that they weren’t in there in the first place. It was an incorruptible prison. The radiance couldn’t corrupt it because there was nothing to corrupt. I mean, it did backfire eventually but it did work for a long time. Long enough for the hollow knight to grow up into adulthood while still chained inside the egg.
The entire OST was composed by one person. And every song serves its function beautifully. This one especially perfectly tells the story of the sealed vessel through music
"Sealed vessel" is a really unique one because it's devided into 3 segments. I don't want to spoil too much ( the game is AMAZING and has a great story ) but in the very beggining you can hear rage, aggression and anger. You start the fight and the boss is pretty chaotic. Later on, they start feeling weak and you can see the conflict within them ( they don't actually to fight you ). Finally, the fight is over and the ending cutscene plays. It's all over now but a lot of people suffered throughout the journey. It's a very tragic and emotional story
Generally all of the tracks on this ost tell their own story. Even if you haven't played the game you can still clearly understand the meaning of it all, it's incredible well made. Additionally there are several uses of leitmotifs: you should use the standard "hollow knight" track as a reference
For more energetc and epic music you can listen to hornet, mantis lords, broken vessel, radiance, the grimm troupe and nightmare king grimm
For something calm and soothing check out city of tears and greenpath
If you are looking for something more unusual you can react to nosk or soul sanctum
I also want to add that if you are looking for more games with great ost I highly recommend undertale, deltarune and terraria

This song makes me cry after learning what its about
The emotion of inevitability and sadness is beautifully encapsulated in this song
What makes the ending even more interesting in the context of the game is that it's actually the only place in the game where the Hollow Knight's leitmotif is allowed to resolve, instead of being left hanging as happens every other point in the game's soundtrack where it comes up. This entire tracks conveys the character's history musically.
And in the Second Phase As you see him screaming it's a scence of him saying "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" then he starts to stab himself it describes him as "please let this be over"
1st part: " Right, time to finish this fight... "
2nd part: " ...I'm so sorry, I'm so so sorry! " ;w;
3rd part: " It's done - but was this truly the way it had to be? "
All of the OST is amazing, every track is just a joy to listen to. Not a single boring track at all, it all serves a purpose.
I really love the entire soundtrack this game offers. Mr Larkin composed music talking to your heart and it never fails to move me.
Considering you'll listen to more of the game's ost, here are my suggestions :
If you'd like to keep listening to energic musics such as the beginning of Sealed Vessel, you can listen to the two Grimm themes (The Grimm Troupe and Nightmare King Grimm), Hornet, Mantis Lords or The Radiance.
Now, if you'd like to go deeper into the emotional pieces, then i'd say the City of Tears, Greenpath, Pale Court, The White Palace, or Truth Beauty and Hatred can be great choices.
These are only some of the super well composed ost, and usually people's favourites, but every music in this game is a piece of jewelry that deserves its place in the Hollow Knight universe.
You should totally listen toBroken Vessel next! Other popular tracks are Hornet, Mantis Lords and Nightmare King (among others, but those get recommended the most often). Literally every track of this game is amazing. If you plan to go through the entire (or most) of this game's OST, definitely leave Pale Court for last. Everything about this game is amazing and the music only makes it better. I hope to see more reactions to this OST from you!

This is my favorite piece from hollow knight! It's an incredibly emotional piece and beautifully woven to have many different leitmotifs clash together and then resolve so spectacularly. Glad you enjoyed it!

I feel like Sealed Vessels is simultaneously the best and worst first track to listen to, like if you're only going to listen to one then yeah Sealed Vessel is it, but it's kinda the final cumulation of the whole main motif.
