Perfect, just what I needed. Tip for anyone trying to do this without the right trim removal tools - you WILL damage parts if you try to do it with a flat head screwdriver! They look similar, but make all the difference!
Disconnecting the cable from the iDrive won't cause any problems since the car has the battery plugged? I was worried about something going wrong when I try to unplug the iDrive switch.
I did this and now I noticed my day time running lights won't come on when I start the car but when I turn the switch everything works fine. Any ideas? Thanks
is it safe to leave car in drive with hand brake on whilst working on the centre console ? i know the engine is not on, just wondered if it could cause any damage ?

OK, so does the car have to be running while you’re doing this? Because my car is dead and I need a new alternator so my car won’t run right now.

Torx-10 driver, in case someone else needs the info. The larger one(first one he used) is a Torx-20.
i’m an idiot i removed the trim before taking out the parking piece and now i have to get a whole nother center console trim
Now I can get that ugly ass woodgrain out and swap it all to carbon fiber
