    Learning to love yourself more is one of the most commons things that we struggle with. Improving the amount of self love we have will often times increase our levels of confidence, decrease the amount of validation we need from others, and bring more happiness into our lives. So today I'm going to show you how I approach this issue. This is how I learned to love myself.

      AddictedToMusic103 idk what you mean by why so much attention, but a person is going to learn if they want to. You could attempt to help and succeed. But a lot of people won’t listen because they’re allowing their ego to control them. What I’m trying to say is, people will always learn if they want to. If they truly want change, they’ll allow it. If they don’t listen and you’ve tried many times, then, you’d have to let them learn the hard way. Sometimes you gotta let those people go, because they can manipulate your energy and have you thinking and or feeling low. Hope I helped in any way.

    It’s not about what you can do as someone else, it’s about being able to accept you as a whole with whoever you are. I looked up to extroverts and tried to be one even though I’m an introvert. I used to be truthful and confident in my independence. I ended up becoming too selfless, suicidal, and worried about not being the most people pleasing personality. I couldn’t become someone else because it’s not who I am meant to be. You can be lazy, thick, skinny, loud, quiet, shy, and own yourself. Being happy with the light and dark within you is the ultimate happiness. You just have to let yourself believe that you can change, but don’t do it to for/to become someone else, do it because you want to be a better version of You. Nobody else will be You except for you.

      I totally understand what you're getting at. But the thing is, I can never look at something from one point of view. So my question is, what about people like, psychopaths? Pedophiles? Cannibals? Narcissists? Etc etc what about them? They're just being themselves when in our opinion they're doing 'bad' things. I know, there are factors that may make a person have dangerous tendencies. But my question remains, we should accept ourselves for what we are, but what if that real self is, for the lack of a better word, dangerous and toxic?
      Does it all come down to 'be yourself but not like that'? Who gets to decide what's acceptable and what's not? And why?

      You can do you and love yourself for it, and he has the choice to do what he wants to do. Is there a rule that only living with what traits you were born with is self acceptance? Don't we all acquire traits and habits and hobbies etc as we grow up? Isn't he just consciously choosing what he wants within himself and then being happy because he now is the best version of himself according to him?

    Don’t want to make this too personal, but back in December I was going through a bad depressive period. Around December 23 I decided to start some kind of change. I didn’t have many friends, so I was spending all of my time in my bedroom. I thought I would start small and start being productive. So I started a storyboard (that I’m still working on), I played my guitar more, and I focused on improving my anatomy and perspective skills while sketching. By the time my winter break ended and I had to start my classes again, I still had a lot of anxiety issues but I had built up a lot of moral and was learning a lot about my personality and general. I was really happy about it. I think it was around this time that I found your video about your self improvement journey through high school, and I’m a sophomore, so when you mentioned that you realized that you went through high school with no memorable moments, I started thinking how my high school experience has basically been the same way so far. It took me a while to start working through my social anxiety, but about three weeks ago I started using my hobbies to communicate more with my peers. I brought portraits that I painted and gave them to people, I started embroidery and would give people the demos that I had made, and recently I started bringing my guitar (apparently lunging around a huge guitar case let’s other guitarists realize that there’s another guitarist in the area). This semester has definitely been a huge improvement, and your videos definitely made me realize some things in my life that I needed to change, so thanks! (Sorry if this went on forever!)

      That sounds amazing! If you don't mind me asking, how did you find the self-discipline needed for all of this? I want to make some similar changes, but I always end up procrastinating or just doing something easier etc. Do you have any advice?

    • @sarahawesomesause1149
      @sarahawesomesause1149 5 років тому +137

      Milica Mandić Tbh, procrastination used to be a huge problem of mine. I would constantly be telling myself that I could just do the task another time. I guess the key to be more self disciplined would be consistency. When I was going through that depressive phase, for example, I had terrible hygiene. Like, I would probably shower once every two weeks. I started making progress by basically forcing myself to shower every night. Eventually it became routine. I don’t think self improvement is an easy thing to accomplish, but it’s definitely worth it. I also used my anxiety basically as motivation, which sounds strange, but it was basically a way of me using my negative traits in a positive way. I’m not sure if this works for everyone, but one example of me using my anxiety as motivation would be during one project I had for my drivers ed class. We were supposed to turn in a packet and PowerPoint presentation about different cars. It was a group assignment and the people I got paired up with were just straight up lazy and didn’t do anything. I was able to finish the PowerPoint and packet by myself, but the day before the due date, I lost the flash drive. I was freaking out pretty bad, but I decided to just start the whole thing over with the few hours I had left. I think that usually I would have just decided to tell the teacher the situation and not turn in anything, but I started thinking about how embarrassing it would be to have nothing finished when we all had a week and a half to work on this. When I turned it in, it wasn’t a perfect score, but at least it wasn’t a failure. Since then I’ve been using that anxiety to any project I start, and I put as much effort as I can into it. I hope this helps!

    • @kinaadman7584

      Well, Zuko was abandoned by her mother and leave to marry another man. His scar was caused by his father and even his sister is as insane as his father. His uncle died leaving him all alone with no "normal" family to lean onto. He has all the rights to turn into evil after having a horrible past with no normal childhood but instead of walking onto the dark path, he befriended Aang and his gang, his mortal enemy. He improved his skill and became a fire lord. Despite his horrible past, he never forgets her mother. He searched all over for her and in the end, he accepted her new family. Zuko has a lot of humility and improvement as person too!

      My favourite character in this show (and one of the best i have ever seen) is uncle Iroh : the wise old man living his life the way he wants to while helping those he meets along the way…so many of his quotes are pure gold... yeah i'm a fanboy :p

    • @ashleyphoenix633
      @ashleyphoenix633 5 років тому +8

      I just love how this character is so well written because he has such a great development through out the series. Zuko is constantly misunderstood (technically at first was a villain not entirely though ) and just wants to be accepted by his father since he doesn't obtain the honor that Ozai practically stole from him , Zuko goes and obeys the orders that have been given to capture the avatar in order to get his honor back. But I simply adore the redemption arc especially when Iroh helps Zuko long the way . I'm talking also about the episode where Aang's bison goes missing but Zuko manages to locate Appa later Iroh appears in the exact moment then gives a epic speech that made him question who he was ...at the end of the episode Zuko his blue mask off and throughs it out to the ocean (that in away is saying that he is letting part of that past , talk about symbolic ). Including the Zuko Alone episode

    There are persons I admire because of their UNIQUE personalities and traits that doesn't mean I have to start behaving like them. You are giving people an unhealthy way for self love, I don't think this was intended. Yes, it's okay to have persons as inspiration or role models but we must always remember that each and every one of us are unique. In my opinion, the key to loving yourself is taking time to actually appreciate yourself that includes self-care days, positive affirmations, praying etc. Self-love also means picking up on our bad habits. It's a lot more to self-love and it varies for everyone. Hope everyone's doing well

      Hey there, if you can just stick with it for a little longer, throw out the rope - or, better yet, help someone out using it, maybe you're at the local docks by the beach and someone needs help getting their boat tied down. Or maybe a friend wants help decorating their porch, suggest stringing it up around the ceiling of it and wrapping some led lights around the rope. Just so long as you don't use it negatively. Please don't do any harm to yourself. You are a living human being just like everyone else.

      pellopellopello1 That’s fair. I have wrestled on and off with depression for years. Motivation is dead when you’re depressed. However I think a point that the video doesn’t touch on really is how momentum can be gained; if you can push yourself to do just one little nice/cool thing today, it’ll be half as difficult to do one tomorrow, half again the next day, and so on. Momentum is such a powerful thing. I didn’t understand that for a long time. I waited until it felt easy to take action. But that doesn’t happen until you start taking action when it isn’t easy xx

    How is pretending to be someone else helpful in learning to love yourself? I'm not a wealthy celebrity who can afford to pay for rides for dozens of people whom I've got nothing in common with aside from a common destination.
    I suspect that the narrator doesn't actually love himself, he loves the idea of pretending to be someone else. This is not the same thing. It is also not healthy to force yourself to behave in a particular way that is against your nature.
