Favorite current build on the builder channels. The brass is my jam.
Great Concept, Dark wood and brass. Awesome quality of work as always.Well done mate!
Really appreciate your commitment to the small things .. you must be a very patient man! Great job by the way 😊
I would like to say thanks for getting answers to all these metalwork questions! we are here with support for a great build.
Thank you, hopefully my trials and tribulations help somebody down the road. It's all pretty fun though.
Fantastic work and explanation of your process, absolutely priceless information for me, many thanks!
Your guitars look awesome and this brass one is looking really awesome, but what it really comes down to is how does it sound? That 92 guitar in the hands of Django is absolutely beautiful. Great job James!!!
love what your doing, been binge watching build 2 and the brass resonator. Keep up the great work you are making it look easy.
FYI the handle on your 3 in 1 tool is ment to slide through so you can get more leverage on the cutter and the brake for thicker stock
cant wait to see more!
Thank you. I figured out the handle leverage thing, but the handle is longer than the machine is tall so it just hits the bench top anyway. It probably needs some sort of stand to mount it on.
Continuing to look amazing - I am loving watching this voyage of discovery, and I now can't wait to hear what it sounds like. I think raw brass is going to put out some real funk, and it looks beautiful. Your persistence is magnificent.
Thanks Rod. I think this thinner brass will have some good mojo for sure.
Good job. Keep it up.
Glad to see you could make use of one of the templates! Your build is looking great!
I use them for reference all the time. They are what helped me design my permanent templates that I'm having laser cut right now, those tops taught me a lot. Thanks again!!!
That is what you were hoping for, I think. I am happy that I reached out to you.@@Ninety2guits
As always, fantastic work. I like the way you're integrating wood into the body. Can't wait for the next episode!
Learning is the thing...not getting it right straight out the gate. It's going to be amazing !!!
You are doing an amazing job here. I am so happy for you that the build went so well.Your vids are always a highlight of my week.
Looks AMAZING!
Thank you.
@@Ninety2guits I don't know why James, but this build has really captured my attention, maybe it's just brass looks so different to the steel!
don't change your style James, you are honest, show when things don't go to plan, never afraid to ask for advice, from those who might be watching? you have a charm, in how you do your presentation, you keep things real! it can't be easy being under the spotlight, learning as you go! there's an expert luthier, and I love watching him, a certain TED! You probably know who I mean! but no, your doing a brilliant job, and can't wait to see that brass build finished, I so wanted the copper binding to work as I think it would have looked STUNNING, ALAS, NOT TOO BE! BUT THE WOOD IS A GORGEOUS CONTRAST!
Thank you Andy, very encouraging. I love watching Ted do his Ted things, he's amazing for sure. I can't imagine the time it takes him to do all the voice overs though.
Great stuff, hope it sounds as good as it looks. Pete T
You and me both! This brass is the thinnest material I've used yet so I'm expecting great things.
ROFL!! Oh well...Sorry and your welcome?? You did great! it's beautiful
Looking really good James. Everything you are doing is an experiment. So you're bound to have to back up once in a while. I've been wondering how the binding was going to be tight against the rounded top and bottom edge. Looks like the plan is to have it a little lower than the top or back surface.
Thanks Dane. The plan is to have a small curve in the binding from bottom to top which will match the curved edge where the sides and top meet. That's the plan anyway, not sure how I will do it yet.
@@Ninety2guits I know you'll figure it out James.
Outstanding job! Looking great. It's fun to watch the learning process as well as the project progress. Having said that, your bending pipe makes me chuckle out loud every time you show it. Maybe you can get Stewmac to sell them. After all they sell a Z file already. 😁
Haha! This pipe bender is version 3.2, you should have seen the first few, they were... special for sure.
wonderful work. May I ask how thick is the sheet metal on the guitar body?
.03" this brass is equivalent to 22 gauge steel in thickness.
@@Ninety2guits thank you very much, does the steel body have the same thickness ?
The steel bodies I made out of 20 gauge but after much review I wish I would have used 22 gauge. All the future ones will be 22 gauge.
What about aluminum I've seen people solder it and you could get decommissioned road signs for cheap cheap
I've been told aluminum resonators sound terrible, but I would like to prove that for myself so well see. Maybe someday.
Hey sre you going to start building resonators to sell?
If so can you send info to reach you and discuss build and price.?
Yes. My email is on the about page of my UA-cam channel. Send me an email and we can discuss details. Thank you.
I thought it was a toilet in the thumbnail!
Hahaha! I see it now, that's hilarious.
Ted Nugent 😂
Haha! What's funny is a couple days after I posted this his name popped up in the news, can't recall why though.
