I would take the "Add Oil Plug" off or unscrew it to the last thread to gravity air can come through to really dump that oil fast. When its plugged above it hesitates a bit to all come out. On your next one ok. The Motor Oil police. Lets go Brandan!!! Good Video other wise.
Anyone else have a fair bit of case sealant in the sump on their first oil change? Just did a service at 3.5hr on my ‘23 450 xcf and found a good bit of it. Obviously the screen will prevent it from going into the pickup but it was a little nerve racking to see.
I don’t have “break cleaner” or “carp cleaner” for the oil screen? Is that ok if I just wipe the screen down and stick it back in? The guy at the store said I put gasoline on it but I don’t trust that lol! Tips?
To each his own, but I only ever go 1 hour for the first service. Too much sealant and metal particles floating around to justify going any longer. Just not worth risking on a $12,000 450.
OP’s own KTM manual says to change oil and filter, plus clean the oil screen, after 1 hour of operation then intervals of every 15, 45, 90hrs and 2 years. They also say to lay the bike over and fill the oil filter housing 1/3 full, he says fuck that and throws the filter in an empty housing. AFTER stating he knows the pros say to do it… i love it when these guys don’t follow the manual or pro advice
Thanks for the vid! Will help when I do my first oil change on my 450 SMR.

Thanks. New sxf owner here. Cheers.
What are the plugs that you said not to take out
How often do the 450s valves need to be checked? Like how many hours of riding?
Thanks for the info and torque setting values. 👍🏼
You're welcome buddy
I have 3.8 on my gas gas 450. The dealer said to run it 10 hours on the break in oil but I felt that was way to long so I planned on doing mine at 5
Super helpful. Thank you.
4.5 hrs on my Husky, I'll be doing my first oil change before this weekend.
Hi mate. So the 10w60 still fine to use? Manual recommends 10w50. Thanks again for your time.
Yes, either is fine.

As long as it's not restricted you should be fine. You can get carb cleaner at any auto parts store.
@@mxgryan can you reply with a link for the specific type you use to clean the screen? Thanks!
Where did you get you skid plate? Been trying to find one for my 23
It comes stock.
Yeah factory editions come with them
