      I have a ceiling shower head in my rental only. No sprayer. Please Is there a way to switch out to a regular dual shower head instead or add a sprayer? I’m looking everywhere but cannot find the solution.

    Great video - exactly what I was looking for, here's my question - whoever put the original shower head on tightened it WAY too much... and now I am trying to get it off. I've tried the wrenches and it is not budging! Any ideas? Or why it might be so tight? Appreciate any thoughts.

    Thank you so much for this demonstration. Tried doing it myself but didn't know the inside pipe wrench existed. God bless you in Jesus name

    thought you were going to show how you route the plumbing through the ceiling. is recommended practice to go up over the ceiling joists with copper (if you have attic space) or go through the joists?

    • @ThePlumbingGurus
      @ThePlumbingGurus  4 роки тому

      If you are in a place with freezing temperatures, you do not want to go into the attic. But if you don’t have freezing temps, it doesn’t really matter. If it’s a the ceiling, it is probably trusses and not joist. You don’t want to be drilling through your trusses. If they run the right way you can go inside them. If they run the opposite way, you might want to drop the ceiling. And if you do have freezing temps, you will for sure want to drop the ceiling. And make sure you vapour barrier first.

      You can go through joists without issue.
      As long as you keep to the correct maximum size hole in relation to the joist.
      They can be notched too.

    Would like to see how plumbing is routed through ceiling/attic. Do you have to insulate pipe or pex?

    • @ThePlumbingGurus
      @ThePlumbingGurus  3 роки тому

      It doesn’t go through the attic, we hVe freezing temps. So it’s a dropped ceiling

    I just bought a hansgrohe shower head. The bathroom has been gutted and I’ve built the frame for the shower, which will have granite tile on floor, walls and ceiling. The bathroom was done originally over 20 years ago. I haven’t done anything with the knobs for the old shower. Should I hire a plumber to replace the hardware for the old shower, including running the pipe to the correct spot on the ceiling? I really don’t want to tear out granite tiles in 5 years to fix a leak or worn out part. Thanks!

      +Swamp Games Hey there, if you are replacing everything else I would highly recommend replacing the main valve for the shower. It’s really hard to change later. I would go with a delta or moen, easy to get parts. Any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask us. We will help you in any way we can. Thanks for watching !!

    What I really need to know is how you got that piece that goes onto the ceiling on, and you never showed it. The previous owners of our house just painted around it and it broke loose :(

    Why do all this extra Plumbing when the shower wand temporarily attached to the ceiling will have the same effect but with more adjustments than a rain head. Saving me money and time and worries about overhead leaks.

    • @ThePlumbingGurus
      @ThePlumbingGurus  2 роки тому

      Because having two shower heads is nice. Especially if you shower with two people. But if money is an issue then don’t bother.

    Why do you use pipe dope AND teflon tape together? Also why do you use the teflon tape on the end that is face sealed? I never understood putting thread sealant on threads that are not sealing (i.e. where you have straight threads and a face seal).

    • @ThePlumbingGurus
      @ThePlumbingGurus  2 роки тому

      We always use tape and dope with threads. Why not? Just a more sure way of no leaks. Leaks are expensive. And yes there’s a gasket. But in 20 years of plumbing, you realize that those gaskets don’t always hold. So again, it’s just another way to insure there’s no leaks or call backs. No time for that

    Thank you for your video. I live in Singapore and it seems that I cannot find the 'inside pipe wrench'.

    If replacing just the showerhead (rain), just different brand, do you need to replace the rainhead arm?
