How to use Newcastle's tactical consistently (details in description)

this is a short video of me testing out newcastle's abilities in the firing range and trying me out. his tactical felt confusing to use and I don't believe I'm the only one who thinks this. After messing around with him for a bit, i may have figured out how it works.
Basically pressing q up close tells it to move in 1 direction whether it's forward, backwards, left, or right and tapping your Q far away makes the shield turn in the direction that you pointed at. I'm still inconsistent with it but i believe that's how it works, feel free to correct me if i made any mistakes or missed anything.

Yeah, I was confused by this too and been searching for an answer for the last 10 hours. So it seems like the key factor to consistent turns is the distance, but it definitely needs more testing to find out the exact values. And we also need to find out why it sometimes turns even when pinged close to the current location
Than you for this video, it seems like you're actually the first one on this topic. But the video was hard to find, it doesn't show up with "Upload date: Today" filter on YT search.

Got to test it after a workday.
It seems that the distance isn't a key factor. I tried to ping at various distances but it wasn't consistent.
And then I noticed that it's likely tied to an angle between you line of sight and current shield direction.
It seems to turn when the difference is around 90 degrees. So if you stand right in the drone it would turn if you ping at the ground right when the shield ends. The effective area is somewhere around 5-10 degrees from that point. Dunno, i'm not good at measuring by my eyes
