i just have to say, i opened this video now wondering when i watched it, since it had a red bar below the video. After watching a few seconds, I realised that i watched in in my matric year. This video popped up now because i need some ideas to teach my own class as a student teacher. Time flies.
The explanation on line thunderstorms is missing an important element. Why are the winds from the high pressure systems over the oceans drawn to meet each other over the interior of the country? There should be low pressures (usually a trough) over the interior of South Africa that forces the air from the high pressures (over the oceans) to converge at the low pressure(s) over the interior. These low pressures over the interior normally 'line-up' diagonally across the interior.
This explanation of the moisture front is completely incorrect. Air to the south west of the moisture front is often a lot warmer than the air to the north-west of it. The air to the south west is subsiding air from the upper air westward extension of the South Indian anti-cyclone ... nothing to do with the South Atlantic anti-cyclone!
