I had the privilege of meeting him at Wits just months before he died. He was such a gentleman scientist and as this video states - he believed that LOVE is the greatest thing of all.
Hello, I am married to Dr. Tobias' first cousins son. Phillip was very dear to my family. We planned a trip to South Africa to meet him. Our hearts broke when we received a call that he had passed, a few months before our visit. Thank you for making this video. It is wonderful and show the delightful spirit of a great great man. +Debbie P Hi, I'm from victoria australia and was wondering if you may inbox me personally here or facebook about possible family link's? ty or i understand if you're not interested just the same. troy d tobias 39 yro male.
I was a student at Wits Med School when he was head of Anatomy in 1986. Amazingly he was known to memorise the names of each medical Student from photo records. I can confirm this to be true as he called me by name when passing in the corridor. one day. I was astonished to say the least! There were about 250 people in each class! The trip to Sterkfontein Caves was one of the greatest memories I have and I consider myself highly fortunate to have passed through his hands. Sorely missed.
I was also at Wits mMed School in 1976 to 1980 and also was amazed that he knew us all by name. He was an amazing teacher filling his anthropology lectures even though we were not going to be examined on this subject.
