this is absolutely amazing I am starting my welding journey I am an artist I cant wait to start making thing with my creative nature. this video is very inspiring
Excellent new program style guys, having guests doing their thing... it gives me a chance to know other channel guys like Brad where I can get some good ideas and insight. Thanks.
@@ProLikeJesus3 look up hot bluing for steel. People do it with any kind of steel and someone on UA-cam has a chart of what temperatures produce which color. There’s an extremely vibrant blue/purple color and there is a pink color and a straw gold color. It is a very picky process though so I would definitely try it out on some scrap pieces before you do it to any good pieces. A TON of scrap pieces first lmao
When i was in welding school they teach me how to do roses with iron and i did a bunch of those since i finished the things i had to do. I ended up with like 13 rusty roses i sanded and spray them (i dont really know what i spray them with but a friend told me to). And sold them to the famillys in my local cemetery. About 400€ profit.
Bob, the work of an artist should be within all of us. Precision, technique, and resultant beauty. I mean what is a skyscraper or welding up a broken fork lift? The time factor is the difference.
Can’t remember his name there was guy who a welder at P&H cranes. When he gets laid off between big crane builds, he builds dinosaur skeleton sculptures out of metal at home.
Some “quick” improvements for ya. On the petals, before you bend them, take a cross peen hammer and mark it up to where the lines of the peen on the metal start at the “center of the teardrop” and move out to the outer edge of the petals. Another improvement is on the leaves, take a chisel and grip the leaf in the vise with one side up. Then take the chisel and cut into the leaf at an angle to make the jagged sides of a rose leaf. This is a really cool project and can’t wait to make one myself. I’ve done a ton of research into it and it seems both hard and easy. Maybe the girl of my dreams will agree to it’s beauty
Bob I'm not gonna lie... It's REALLY weird seeing you wear a hat other than your welders cap! That being said, if you ever wanna try something different with the thorns, I found that laying a fat tack on the stem, and then forming/sharpening it up with a flap disc makes them look incredibly realistic.
Nice job... Pitty pick of black steel. Need to clean from rust and protect (how?) Better take SS, also paint it nicely with auto paint... red and green, even before welding. Brief welding to the stem won't damage painting on visible outer sides.

It's been over a year since you commented, how's the art going?
Great guest..........The man wears a shirt that speaks volumes of his soul. Nice project...... Thanks Bob!
Always good stuff from you Bob. Your students should feel very lucky to be taught by a legend
So the purpose of these roses are for wives that found out what the cost of our weld machines are?
Sounds about right
lol, made my day ;-P
Yup. I'm still trying to hide my everlast welders from my wife from seeing.
That was hilarious. I laughed my ass off.
And the wives can’t kill that rose

Thanks.
I will try this at home with silver solder! Very good presentation!
I'm constantly making thing at work, now this is definitely going on the short list.thanks for the how- to
I wonder if you were to use stainless and then heat it carefully with a torch if you could give it some color? I might try this. Thanks guys!
ohhh that's something ive never considered before. i'll have to try this.
you can do that with mild steel too
Maybe a good oxy ace set up could but i would be hesitant with tig unless you had the time an materials to play around with
Can you change the color of mild steel?

So cool. Thanks for sharing. You guys are funny and I love guys like you. Reminds of my papa Pete a welder. I'm making these for Valentine's.
some interesting sound and editing at 9:54
You have laboured to produce a.. Cuh... you know.. that's a flower. Haha
Hahahahha
I wish I had that type of artistic talent
You should do a copper rose too...they look cool...easy to bend....
What thickness material is ideal?
A true work of art

Looking forward to making one someday soon! 👍👍
4 years later, did you ever come around to do it ?
How many total pedals did you cut out?
Very nicely done, looks wicked
Can't wait to try this... :)
6:43 that death glare tho
Can you discuss duty cycle and how it can affect production
ive tried similar with copper but not yet with steel. are all of your petals cut to the same size?
Did you ever get your answer? Are all the petals the same size?
@@balkman_4 no
I like that, thank you. I think I'll make one for my daughter.

Is there like a template for that water drop to make the rose?

Like It. Saludos desde Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 B.M
GREAT JOB CONGRATULATIONS. ! !!
Could I do this with my Miller 251 Mig if I turned it down real low?
Time it takes and cost information would be nice
Pretty cool!
Awesome! Great talent! God is good! God bless!
Thats cool.
Great Video......Thanks
Love this
Fantastic
So how thick of the metal? Thanks
22 ga
Good video!
Are all the petals the same size?
How long did it take him ? Looks very time consuming.
We def slowed the process with cameras, but it was def a time consuming process.
Do you think it can be done with a stick welder?
awesome. so many ways to weld up a few dimes.
Awesome boys! I have wondered how this is done. Might be interesting do this in aluminium.
I have done it, you have to be careful to not burn though it.
I've never made these but I do know tiging aluminum is very temperamental so it'd definitely be a challenge
I bet it would look great with silver coins of some sort.
where can i buy that metal for the flowers

I have a lot of hats!
What is the stem made out of
I will try that to morow
Awesome
9:51 is this a ytp
Love it😁😁😁👍👍👍👍🎉🎉🎉
WOW
What type of metal did you use
Great video! Ever since I saw Scott_raabe rose on instagram I wanted to know how this was done.
What type of welder (TIG/MIG) are you using? Gas or no gas?
Thank you!
It's a TIG welder and yes, it must use gas plus you can hear it too in the video. Hope this helps.
Good video of just your hands. Here's to hopefully find a better tutorial 🍻
I made mine out of a welding rod can.

say what happened to mr. tig
Robert Atwood finally retired maybe. Enjoying his golden years
Ima make one, Then give it to a Girl :)
ARC 7157 or a boy 😂😂 it’s 2018 now
Welding Junkie
... Are you implying that a Girl gives the Boy the rose? Or Me, a Guy, Gives another Guy the Rose?
ARC 7157 I’m not implying anything, I’m saying it’s 2018 anything is possible... if you want to give it to a guy that’s your business.
Please see Revelation 14:12 it tells the 2 quality of what a saint is
Can you just let the man tell us how to do this?
Bob is a strange man.
WTAF is grandad wearing on his head?
How thick is the metal used?
22 gauge
