Hi! As a former hobby modeler, i often rebuilt/repainted second hand painted kits. There is a way to remove the paint (but it will remove all of it) without damaging the plastic parts, neither using abrasive stuff. I used soda oven cleaning foam. I placed the pieces in a watertight plastic bag and sprayed them liberally. I let it work overnight, and the next day, all I had to do was scrub with a brush under tap water, and all the paint was going easily.
