I bought mine in the middle of 2023. Took it to the skate park in town here. Flew over some jumps, in the air about 3 feet, landing on its top. I was amazed, no cracks and very light scuffs. This is my first truck since 1990 Nikko Toyota 4X4 twin moter. Of course it was brushed and 74Mhz. Thanks for the video. Great job!
The brushless version of this car is actually pretty crazy. My son got one from his uncle for his bday about a month ago. Lots of upgrades on it compared to that one. It flies
And one more thing if you do not let the motor cool down after the 1st battery and if you put the 2nd battery in you will definitely burn up the motor that happened to me
Another great video. My son has one of these too, along with the 9205E that you guys play with a bunch. I can't wait to see what you do with this thing.
@@DerbyCityRC I'm working on getting upgraded parts for the 9205 now. I'm having a hard time ensuring I get the right brushless servo, though. The ones you use are not available right now. Any other suggestions? I'm going with the Hobby wing 4000kv max10 kit.
Awesome kit! I don’t know for sure of another servo that fits. Banggood is out of those quite often unfortunately. Check for that same servo on Haiboxingtoys.com
Hard to say for sure but probably something like a 3500-4400 kv. Most likely the biggest size would be something like a 2840 (28mm diameter and 40mm in length) but I would measure that. Probably a 60 amp esc!
I don’t remember what I charged these in, but either a non-fire rated metal cabinet, and/or a lipo charging bag. I now have them in an unattached garage in a metal cabinet mounted on a cinder block wall, and usually only charge while I’m out there.
Why does my battery only last about 5 minutes. I bought it. And one battery didn't work other one did. But the one that does it goes really fast about about a minute then it slows down and dies shortly after? Any tips?
Interesting. My initial thought would be to check for any binding in the drivetrain and if everything feels smooth then probably faulty batteries. Which would be odd as well. Keep me posted in what you find. 👍
I would say the hbx is a better choice. I don’t have the brushed version, but it’s an unbeatable platform. This is a pretty good deal right here: amzn.to/3jew4CI Have you seen it cheaper anywhere else?
I really debated on getting this one several times! In the beginning it would have been great! Durable, upgradeable and handles very well from what I see. It's really great you show the pro's and very light con's of of it. On a fun note cool on the front flips! I had some doubts due to the weight😉
Thanks! Ya this car isn’t really my style, but definitely good for beginners or kids. Should be fun to upgrade! I had my doubts too, but I got those front flips!!😁
No! Lol not even close. The two cars are on completely different levels. The HBX 16889a Pro is the ultimate cheap RC, especially in that size range. 👍👍
Well this is something that you don’t see every day! I love your video and channel, I will definitely be supporting you from now on! I wish you a very happy day! Hopefully till soon! 🙏🏻 New Subscriber! 🌹
Good question. I only have the 16889a and the pro version, which are both brushless. Very different from this car. I’ve heard even the brushed 16889 is quite zippy!
@@DerbyCityRC my friend had the same model and he had some oil filled shocks! He didn't used this car because his servo died so he gave it to me and it feels much better. Also he bought brushless wltoys and he wants to swap the motor and esc so i can try this thing brushless!
🤣😆awesome! Hilarious! Didn’t know you had a twin brother… not identical though… 😂 any way awesome effects you got going on man. I too had this truck a while back ago and it too was brushed, it now belongs to a kid down the street. I kept the desert journey version and threw in a doner brushless system in it and it’s been awesome! This really stood up to the abuse. Put a 2s and something higher than a 50c and speed will increase to ~18mph! With the brushed motor! Always great video brother. Always forget to ask what your name is… happy Easter 🐣🐇 brother. Take care! Hello to Max✌🏻👊🏼😊
Haha! He will probably make some more occasional appearances! Happy Easter to you too! That’s true I haven’t ever really introduced myself lol. Name is Evan. 😎 Thanks again and Max says hi!
I knew you could get some front flips out of it you always do with those cars and you will get more front and backflips over a short period of time I know you
I’m pretty sure that was a lipo battery with a typo on it. Feels and looks like a lipo. If I make it brushless, I will definitely change the battery connections for better batteries!
@@DerbyCityRC oh yeah you'll have to do that and I know you will make it brushless but most little cars now this is about the battery most little cars come with a lithium battery lithium ion but like you said it is possibly a lipo with a typo

I used 3 layers of clear shipping tape to reinforce the body from cracking. And it looks almost the same as it did before with no mess.
Someone directed me to this car as I was just getting started and boom. A video from you. Cheers bro
Awesome! Hopefully it helped with your decision!
The brushless version of this car is actually pretty crazy. My son got one from his uncle for his bday about a month ago. Lots of upgrades on it compared to that one. It flies
Nice! This model is over two years old. I don’t even think they had the brushless version at the time. Super cool!
This honestly looks better than I expected. I haven’t gotten into 1/18 scale yet but might be a good one for my son to play with
It’s not bad at all, just slow so perfect to learn on!
Good test run Evan 👍. These are great for the price, I was happy with how mine performed. Looking forward to seeing it go to brushless 😁
Thanks Dan! Yes definitely good for the price. Yes I believe a cheap brushless set and some oil shocks will bring this thing a long way!! 😉😎
And one more thing if you do not let the motor cool down after the 1st battery and if you put the 2nd battery in you will definitely burn up the motor that happened to me
Ya I feel like that’s pretty standard for any brushed motor. They certainly like to heat up!
Excellent vid man. I enjoy your style and humor.
Thanks!
Really appreciate that!!
I run mine on 3s and is twice as fast , haven't burn the esc yet
Oh nice! I’ll have to try it lol

Actually just found this one.
Just came across it on a Facebook group!

Should fit perfectly
If you were to do a brushless motor and ESC combo upgrade what would you suggest?
Hard to say for sure but probably something like a 3500-4400 kv.
Most likely the biggest size would be something like a 2840 (28mm diameter and 40mm in length) but I would measure that. Probably a 60 amp esc!

Absolutely
Check out the eachine EAT10. Looks very similar but comes brushless and will run 3s. Wish I would find some good shocks.
Nice! I think that would be a big difference! Plans for a future video!
Can someone tell me what oil I use for the oil shocks for the hosim h16r
What to do with connection issues? My remote control red light flashes red and both the car and the RC have new batteries
Hmmmm. Does the car itself seem to turn on? Any lights or sounds from it at all?

Thanks for the video man, do you prefer this one or the hbx 16889 brushed version? I'm hesitating, thanks.
I have purchased oil-filled shocks, metal driveshafts/trains/cups, and a brushless kit, so which one is better to upgrade?
I would say the hbx is a better choice. I don’t have the brushed version, but it’s an unbeatable platform. This is a pretty good deal right here: amzn.to/3jew4CI

If you got all those upgrades, why not get the hbx 16889a pro? If comes with all that stuff already; amzn.to/3FFPxUe
I have several videos on it.

Im getting the Deerc 9310, on amazon it says 30mph+ does it really go that fast?
I don’t have that model, but I doubt it. Their speed claims are not usually correct.
@@DerbyCityRC i saw that in the reviews and people saying that it stopped working after a week...

Thanks my friend!
it's much better if you switch out the bushings with real bearings. Then metal diffs are also way smoother than the plastics
