This should be fine recessed. Not sure about the vehicle in the video as the inside of the cover isn't displayed but ... Can confirm that my 05 Ac TL, 6spd has an edge that you can see from inside the cover which lines up well with the seal so as to not let it leak out oil. Will confirm in a couple days.

You dont put a crank seal in dry...... itll just burn up abd leak the minute you start it
What do you lube it with? Oil?
