- Welcome to our very first Q&A where we (Mummy human and Daddy human) try to answer as many questions as we can that you have asked over our UA-cam and Instagram community. We will cover stuff about us, what life is like with macaws, parrot training, how much Mikey and Mia cost, free flight, poop training, bird bites, breading and many many other things.
Please do keep in mind we are not professional parrot trainers or bird experts of any sort, we are very new to keeping birds and all of our answers to your questions are from our own experience and may not work with your bird. We are just here to make videos to make you smile.
If we missed any of your questions we do apologise but we filmed for just over 3 hours so had to stop lols.

I had parakeet, he was 12 yo, and he passed away 23.4.2019. It was my best friend. Thats why I want to have macaw. And we want merch.

@@MikeyTheMacaw i know, its lot of work and time to spend with macaw, but i want to give him everything what he deserve.
A budgie to a macaw? Dude that’s like going from riding a bike to flying a plane with no experience in between.... But...if you are ready for the commitment (a long time!!!) and the freaking price (it’s expensive, man...) and the BITES (omfg the bites...) and the TrAiNiNg!!! (I could seriously go on and on...)
Well, anyways, my point is, if you’re ready, that’s your decision. However, I highly recommend you get some experience with an untamed (it’s very important that it’s untamed) bird of the kind that you wish, whatever kind of bird it may be. (If you would like a macaw, get experience with an untamed macaw.) This will allow you to share a different perspective on things.
You seem like a great bird owner, seeing as your beloved budgie lived for such a long time! I really do think you will do great if you choose the path of birds in the future.

Can I just acknowledge how great it is that your egos are not huge……that you recognize that for certain questions, you didn’t want to give advice and redirected people to “Bird Tricks”, etc?!
So many new bird owners think they have it all figured out, or their egos won’t allow them to say, “I don’t know”. You both are more concerned with, and know that, the correct advice is SO important when it comes to birds. Thank you!!!!❤️🦜❤️

You two are good parents. I appreciate that you admit that you don't know everything! Thanks you are relatively new. I've had my Hahn's Macaw for 20+ years. Sadly, we had a Sulfer Crested Macaw that died of a heart problem that was undiagnosed. He just fell straigh otf
of his perch.
I'm ALS glad you mentioned the dust. There is far more dust on a cockatoo than a Macaw. Just incase anyone was wondering.

It tells me that you are here for the love of sharing your little ones. And for that I’m very grateful.
One thing I’m really, really scared of is when Mike does a free flight, I’m looking up to see if there any raptors around. Here in Mumbai, it would be very challenging...there are Cheels and crows everywhere. M&M are much larger, yet one does worry. I’m assuming that you don’t have such concerns.

So we do our best to fly in areas without birds of prey around, most places we fly we just get the odd seagull or crow chase which Mikey enjoys haha.
You guys are amazing. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to talk people out of pets all the time because you can tell when people aren't going to take them seriously. I get so many questions about my ferrets because I have 6 of them (and a doq, and a cat lol) and as much as I would love for everyone to have one not everyone would keep them free ranged out of cage and let them destroy their house and feed them the best foods and take them out and about. I have so much respect for how you are raising your babies. I wish more people were like you. Can't wait to see more. Much LOVE XOxoOxo

I have a blue and gold macaw, Mojo, who is 13 and I’ve had him since he was just a baby, no feathers yet, he’s been through surgery successfully, he came to me with a burnt crop and one day I fed him and his formula came out from beneath a scab that had formed on his chest. Mojo is a very good boy, especially considering how much he’s been through. He hasn’t got as much attention he needs which I’m working on, we sat this morning watching Mikey the macaw videos together! I’m hoping together Mojo will become all he can be, thank you for the videos
