At 10:04, Lucia reached 200 total points scored in all the games combined. Poof had just hit 21. Final series score: 237-36 Lucia. She outscored Poof by 201 points! But hey, one win is all it takes :) And still, these are only the points I can see in the video, not any that Poof cut out. So the actual gap in points could have been much bigger.

But I digress, Some tips: (1) hold out for her to make a mistake, it does happen just hang in there, making long rallies that seem like they go on forever. (2) When hitting the ball, twist the Wii remote towards yourself as if accelerating a motorcycle to put a curve on the ball, making it curve through the air and move slowly, a good time to do this is when you are far away from the table, it gives both of you time to get back to the table. NOTE: the curved trajectory of the ball sometimes confuses the Lucía A.I. and she waits too late to hit it. (3) you can twist the wii remote away (opposite of accelerating a motorcycle) from yourself when hitting to make the ball go faster than a normal hit. and sometimes even faster than a power hit. It can catch the opponent off guard, and is a technique to get your opponent over to one side of the table so you can then blast it over to the other side when they try to return it. It is risky however and needs a bit of practice to master. But you’ll get there. O ye few who seek help and see this, you have found truth
The number one tip for wii sports resort table tennis that will help in every match is to hit it to the left side of the table with a forearm shot and then hit to the right side of the table with a backhand shot and repeat this process. Even if this doesn't catch them out immediately it eventually will as they keep running left and right and will eventually give you a chance for a smash shot where you should do the exact same thing and that will eventually get you a point. This was always my main strategy when facing anybody in the game as a kid.
This is excellent advice. Your (3) point is called "cornering". To expand upon this, it takes practice to master _when_ to corner it, not how. If your opponent (Lucia) is already well positioned to return it, you are in for a bad time. You should only try to corner when your opponent is far enough away such that they cannot return the ball super hard and in a bad spot for you to hit it back. Basically, cornering is used to set up a put away shot. There is one other point OP made that I would like to highlight: I cannot stress enough just how important distance away from the table is. If you are not directly near the table, you will lose 95-97% of points. The reason is that Lucia, and all other high level opponents, can move multiples faster than you. The farther away you are from the table, the farther you have to travel in order to catch up to balls on either side of the table. This is where that speed disparity is exposed. You will lose every time. This is why Poof struggled so much against Lucia early on. Notice where Beef Boss was in early games when Poof was losing points -- he was almost always super far away from the table. Over time, Poof starts recognizing this and adjusting (_veeeeeery_ slowly adjusting lol) How do you counter this? Backspin shot! The OP never called it this, but this is what he/she meant when they said to "twist the Wii remote towards yourself." This results in a backspin shot. The ball travels slowly, and your character will automatically move towards the table after hitting a successful backspin shot. This is BY FAR the most important skill you must learn as you progress. It is quite challenging to master, but once you can do this consistently, you will be able to win against anyone. DO NOT try to put Lucia away with a shot if you are not almost directly next to the table. It won't work.
