  • After a frightening compound fracture of the lower leg, the man hobbles through the woods, wracked with pain and desperately hoping that he won't become another casualty of the Frontier trail! Will he be saved or will he give his life as many have done who have gone before him?

    I love this series!
Yknow, it's not difficult to take a tumble and get really hurt.
I've been drawn to Nature and the outdoors for as far back as I can remember.
As early as 1968 I was in the woods, or wading a creek, or laying in the tall grass watching clouds. My mum had the hardest time keeping shoes on me!
Hunting, fishing, or just exploring was my jam all my life.
Now I'm in the winter of my life. I still hear Mother nature call. However, I'm not as sprite as I once was. Now I carry an oak " Moses stick," even when hunting. It's kept me from taking countless tumbles because of uneven ground, unseen holes, kept a few snakes away , aswell as some not too friendly feral dogs. Its even good when the sidewalk in town is all cracked and tilted. It's not a bad thing for younger folks either.

@SteveAubrey1762,. Very good suggestion. Nature is a wonderful thing, which I fear we take for granted all too often. I have a few walking sticks of my own. A heavy Black Walnut quarter staff, a lighter oak stick with a hook, and another one I found laying in the woods. All the best and may God bless.

Tip for everyone. Ideally whenever water 💦 is drawn from a flowing stream, the container should always face away from the oncoming flow in the cleanest part of the stream. This minimises small particles entering the container.

James, you're making me to weep. Lost my best friend-wife 36 years, RESCUED from heart attack, cancer... and myself... this hits home. this far in the series so far, finally. My wife, God who rests her soul, who was [like me, what they used to call an Aspie or AuDhder...] decided before her passing, that America had no hero's in the modern world. So she just picked Davy Crocket and studied historical records. But, you come from a stock of hers and live it out your own self! My family records were mostly cut off, having been stored in the court house in Richmond before the Cicil War... I thank GOD that you have your history! Heritage in the Christ we cling to... Carry on, brother! Halfway through the series [binging something wholesome!]. IF Hollywood would to embrace your story and writing and not monkey with it... The USA would be healed! And only one such story this is!

I love these little vignettes. it gives us a small window into which we can glimpse the past and appreciate our ancestors a little more. I think I'm going to give this a whirl. start with a 3-day hike thru the mountains with my backpack gear and my high-power PCP airgun. live off the land. get back in shape and do this for a month at a time. my longest trek was 3 months in s. arizona in 1975. I did this for yrs but life, war, and age got in the way. now @ 70, it's now or never. I love camping in the snow and living off the land. makes me feel 40 yrs younger. thanks......you are awesome. from a 70 yr old kid......SEMPER FI.

This is by far the best little mini series I've ever watched. It's nice to put into perspective just a glimpse of what one could have possibly gone through in the search for a better life. It really puts it out there just how good we mostly have it today, some better than others I understand. But just to be able to live a much more simpler life is a dream that I still look forward to in the future. I can not wait to see what happens next. Thank you again for doing this series!!!

Our Hero survived due to unselfish help from good people. We still have those God Fearing good People today but alas we also got those that are bad and black heart'ed. Out to ruin all that they can of the Great Country. I am a Digital Soldier. A Warrior and Like our Hero , we will never give up. Some day soon there will come a big change. People will pay for their sins , times may be hard again but we are made of Stern Stuff and with God on our side we have already Won. #17

Thank you so much for watching. Actually, the survival rate and success rate for people with even compound fractures like this was quite high back in those days.

Enjoying the videos. We had tough ancestors.
Good to remember and practice skills they had long before our age of electricity and fossil fuels. Hope to meet you at a survival training or living history event sometime.

Again this segment was well worth the time waiting for I've been trying to figure out how he was going to make it to get help with the broken leg it's great to see that he found some kind and loving family and friends to help him. You just keep up the good work here many things to all the people that make these adventures possible you put a lot of work into this and it's well worth the effort I thoroughly enjoy it I hope it keeps continuing you could end up making a TV series out of this because it becomes spellbounding and people are entrapped into it and can't wait for the next episode again many thanks and I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
