Good advice Bumpy.I don’t gut enough locks.Iv ordered some euro cylinders to practice gutting. Thanks for sharing I always enjoy your videos they flow really well👍🏻
@ I really want to try and make a Challenge Lock at some point so I need the practice gutting a few locks to get more comfortable with it.The euros are quite fiddly to🫣
Good heads-up for people. The Master Lock 570/575 can have stacks below the sheer line like that, which is why I don't recommend them. Thankfully better locks like ASSAs and Goals have balanced stacks, at least from the factory, meaning that short key pins are matched with long drivers and long key pins are matched with short drivers. In the case of your Max+, I'm guessing a locksmith either put in a wrong driver at #6 at some point or someone accidentally swapped #3 & #6 at some point. You shouldn't need a pinning kit as you aren't likely to run into this where it can't be fixed by just swapping the pins back. Now with Master Locks and other cheaper locks, you are a bit SOL as all the drivers are the same size.
So gutting locks takes a lot of tools to do that in general lots and lots and lots I’ve got an idea that will change everything for the lock port community. I wanted to run it by you maybe just for a fresh look at the idea you being new to the whole thingI would appreciate your thoughts. We would have to do it in a phone call though too big and too much to talk about on this small of a communication platform.😅😮😢😢🎉
@ I don’t know anything about discord I do know about telephone calls. I just think that’s the more legitimate way to communicate I mean really but that’s OK if you can’t I understand just trying to help you out.
Bought a Master Lock 530 two days ago, had 24 hours of fun picking it. (Came up with a new challenge for me: one simple lock, but go through 20 picks until picked with each. Maybe this is already a thing?) Anyway, gutted it, and now can't figure out how it goes back together. 24 hours of frustration and angst. And no reassembly video anywhere that i can find. Anyone help?
The M530 can be a bit fun. I don't have any videos doing a reassemble of it (I'll probably throw one together). One thing that happens a lot with mine is that a piece of the actuator sometimes falls out when you remove the cylinder. If that happens, you need to make sure that you get that back in in the correct orientation. The other item might be the angle of the core, you want to make sure that you have it on the correct side of the retaining bolt. Let me know if this helps!
@BumpyBonesLocksport I have the angle of the core correct (to the right of the bolt), it's the spring in the mechanism that is the culprit. Basically, I have the entire lock put together as I would think it should be, then I insert the key, pop the lock open, but then the spring tension is released and the shackle will no longer lock back into place. The spring tension is gone. My thought is that I need to somehow get the ball bearings in, twist the bottom cam -thing 90° maybe, or something, I don't know. I gave up yesterday. Lol I'll try to tackle it again this weekend. But SOMETHING about the spring needs to be wound up somehow, or I'm not putting things back together in the l proper order. But man, yeah, if you did a reassembly video -- wow. That would be a life saver. As much as a $13 Master lock could save a life anyway. Lol
@douglasbrandt4068 here you go! I just uploaded a video going thru the disassembly and reassembly of the Master Lock M530CD and M53DF: ua-cam.com/video/u98zATTcD10/v-deo.html Let me know if this helps!
Good video! One of the things I enjoy about locksport is taking these locks apart to see how they work.
Thanks! I'm the same!
Very nice and educational. I wasn't aware of this danger even existing. Will definitely gut my 90a pro before further atempting to pick it
Thanks!

Euro cylinders are definitely 'fun' to gut! I tried it a couple of times and it took me a long time to repin the lock!

Great video. 👍Good info about a the spring getting caught in the lock. I destroyed a couple master lock 3's that way😂
Thanks! Yeah I got a couple of 570's that way too!

Thanks! And hi!
Very informative good sir!!! Thank you
Thanks!
Good video, and thorough.
Thanks!
Very nice video
Thanks!
I resisted gutting and progressive pinning for awhile and that only slowed down my learning.
When I started I resisted as well, but when I hit the American Lock 1100 series it really taught me a lot so I do it with all of my locks now!

No problem! I typically don't give my telephone number out, but send me an email and we'll see what we can work out!
