Maybe having the shaft on the driver shortened would enable the golfer to take the same consistent grip as her or she has always taken. Some shafts on off -the - shelf drivers are too long. I have seen some golfers put a 3wood shaft in their driver for better control.
Does this method work for all the clubs down to the putter. I love watching the videos as they are so self explanatory. I was told when I started to keep my feet on the ground. I started using the easy swing and I find it so much easier and painfree.
Yes even within putting (obviously to a much lesser extent) Brad Faxon and Ben Crenshaw both acknowledged some leg action in their strokes. 2 of the best putters of all time. When the new book The Easiest Swing in Golf comes out it is explained in more detail should be available within 3 months keep an eye on our website for details.
I played at my home course Canterbury Golf Club last Friday and when playing the 10th hole it is always a bit of a dilemma for me as there is a ditch at 275 yards off the tee but it’s a 425 yard hole so many a time against the wind I have laid up and found myself well over 200 to the pin so this week I decided to hit a really soft cut with a driver. I followed Seàn’s advice and gripped an inch down, but to avoid going into the water I only took a 3/4 swing and hit really soft (about 1/3 power) ….. the ball ended up on the downslope into the ditch! Yes Easiest of easy swings, a deliberate cut, 1/3 power, 3/4 swing, 1” down the grip, against the wind virtually no run - 275 yards!!
Thanks, Sean. I am returning to Easiest Swing after a few years of Stack and Tilt. I have generously given S&T a sore neck, and a clapped-out left knee. No more. Turning 70 this year, and I love the game too much to miss out because of pain.
Great to have you back again Paul. Many return after deciding they want to enjoy great golf, pain free again. At 70 there is plenty of time for your best golf yet.
@@Easiestswing Thanks, Sean. One question, please: Because Easiest Swing advocates a much more upright stance, do I need new, or modified, clubs with a different lie angle? I am 6’3”, so a change in stance makes a big difference in club position. Thanks, and I look forward to re-learning your swing.
I can answer that for you Paul and I think you actually know the answer instinctively already - yes at 6’3” if you stand taller and a little closer you will need longer and more upright clubs. Try and find an experienced and reputable club fitter near you and see what they advise. Often this may just be some alterations to your existing clubs rather than just a new set. I am 6’4” and have some back issues so like not to bend over too much so play with upright irons that are 2” longer - you may find 1” is enough. This will increase the swing weight significantly and encourages a slower lazier action.

.Excellent job Sean in explaining the 5 elements in making an easy driver swing! I agree with you that each club in our bag is designed to work a certain way and the driver is no exception! Thanks for sharing. When you keep the hands off-of middle, don't you tilt the club face to the left of the target? @ 7.16, your alignment looks to be closed. With your set-up, the ball flight was fade. Is that the result of the hands/shaft position?
Thanks orkayen. The Club face is square to the target. The appearance of a closed position is a bit of camera angle issue, look at the mow lines. Don't get concerned about the shot shape, the fade was a result of swing path, not setup. If I changed the path to go more from the inside to out, this would result in a draw. Hope this helps.

Séan is not trying to make his left arm straight in the backswing thereby allowing a small bend in it - the amount you bend your arm is up to you but the important thing is to be released from the belief that it has to be completely straight.
