I no longer concur that a 'criminal record', as constructed layer by layer by the sometimes criminally prepossessed law enforcement themselves, is any stigma worthy of castigation, unless of course it is for indeed the worst, most violent, despicable offences like rape, murder, sex abuse, etc. If police officers dictate the designation of criminal records in the first place, the conflict of interest in vetting and passing them before hire or even post hire 'convictions' is patently clear and paradoxical.

It should be double the sentence for a cop committing a crime, minimum. No ifs no buts, double what any one from civvy street would get for similar offences. Based on the FOIA requests returned by only a handful of Police forces and projected estimates based on these percentages indicated that between 14 and 20% had criminal records for offences ranging from drunk driving, stalking, assault, drug possession etc, etc, etc. I have also been struggling to find the references to a report I read a few years back that indicated that some UK Plod forces are more than willing to accept new recruits even if they have had a history of criminal offences, such as 'low-level' Breach of the Peace, Drunk and Disorderly etc, if they can show that they have since shown good behaviour. It's called hypocrisy.
More than 5000 UK police are charged or dismissed for misconduct every year. At least 4 or more other police know of these activities and do nothing. In Australia this is the case where police and government personnel are held to a higher standard and do get longer sentences thane Joe average.
If these officers have very little regard for their own moral integrity, oath of office and the law……….what level of respect do they possess of the public for which they serve & grant them the privilege to do so ? They really have proved themselves to be the most inept & corrupt to the point of dangerous institute of modern times.

I know, I'm living with that. Had a DNR order slammed on my medical records when I was in my mid-twenties - because I'm ASSUMED to be a low IQ failure in life and never to have worked. I was never told about the DNR. Since then, I cannot get any medical treatment. I've been left to bleed out on the floor and other similar incidents! In reality, I have worked since finishing college by the way.
Every police officer is just a human being, the product of today's society. To expect them to behave in a certain way just because they swore an oath and sat in a room and learnt some stuff, is completely foolhardy.
