    ----------
Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan is an Indian classical sitar player from Imdadkhani Gharana. He belongs to the seventh generation of Etawah Gharana. He was born in Mumbai and was trained under his father Aziz Khan, who was the son of the sitar player Wahid Khan. Shahid Parvez has performed in all major music festivals in India or abroad. Shahid Parvez also got vocal and Surbahar(sometimes called bass sitar) training from his uncle Hafeez Khan. He also received training in tabla for many years from Munnu Khan of the Delhi
    Gharana.
Raag Sahana is a popular Raag in Hindustani classical music as well as in Carnatic music. Raag Sahana can conjure a plethora of emotions including compassion, pleading, fervent appeal, helpless surrender, and piety, all of which is experienced by the listener, bewitched by the symphonic spells, such is its the power to invade and imbue the heart. It is an awe-inspiringly alluring Raag, which gives peace to the inner self and soothes the artiste as well as the audience. It is one of the most easily identified raags even by a neophyte listener of music.
This Raag is considered by many as a royal melody which was usually performed in Mughal courts like Raag Darbari. Proper Timing of this Raag is Late Night, midnight to 3 am.
    Credits:
    Sitar: Ustad Shahid Parvez khan

I was introduced to this raag by the song "Aadam". Performed by Farid Ayaz and party in Coke Studio. Which got me here. Truly amazing raag and equally amazing playing by both gentlemen. Thank you for uploading this.

Goddess of Music Maa Saraswati has blessed Ustad Shahid Parvez. Within initial two, three musical phrases, we are captivated by his rendition. In aalaap itself the whole Taj Mahal of the Raga is before us with its charm. The accompanying Ustad is also excellent having command over both Daya and Baya i.e Tabala and Dagga. Many many thanks for loading.

The Raga here is Shahana and not Sahana, as misspelled here. Shahana which means royal is an off-shoot of Darbari. Both ragas are supposed to evoke the splendor and awe of the Mughal court.
