I guess I'll add my two cents of advice. Like others have said the biggest leak in your tournament game is registering late, that's it! Showing up on time let's you get reads on players without even being involved in the hand, this is especially true in higher buy in events where you have some time between levels. In small buy in events (or turbos) that don't cost much go ahead and late reg. Lastly I'll quote Gordon Gekko "The most valuable commodity I know of is information, wouldn't you agree"
lol you think this is his biggest leak? If he came into tournaments sooner, he'd just go busted sooner. He plays 20-30BB stacks like a shortstack. Every. Fucking. Time. Rampage has exactly 0 Patience. Exactly 0.
I agree..entering early when blinds are low let you see alot more hands cheaply..which then allows you to catch a couple big hands (flush, str8, trips, etc.). Doubling early and seeing flops often when blinds are cheap is key in big tourneys!
Actually, registering late gives you an immediate ICM boost. That's been proven mathematically and there are books written about it. Having said that, I think that all these players registering late are actually losing some value by not allowing themselves to play deep stack poker against the weak players who end up busting early. By the time Rampage enters a tournament, he has 25 BB left or less and the red meat has already busted out of the tournament. Also, the previous commenter is correct, Rampage plays a 25BB stack like a 10BB stack. Shoving AT preflop with 25BB is just not profitable. It often isn't even profitable for 10BB.

Ethan - love your blog - your heart - and your desire to be the BEST!! Having said that - wanted to share this bit of advice on the small chance that its something you dont already know...when you are playing tournaments - the variance is HIGHER than it is playing cash. Because of this - you need to manage your bankroll. Best advice I have seen is to maintain a minimum of 200 buy-ins for the tournament levels.
I really appreciate this video lots of bloggers on the show they’re winning streaks as a poker player it’s very frustrating to lose and have to buy back in over and over during a tournament it’s nice to see that even a professional goes through the same pain that we all go through
Rampage your style of tournament play is as high variance as it comes. You put chips at risk when you don't need to and you are either going to win or bust with no in between and no winning consistency that way. You will bink a tournament and go 6 months before your next win playing that way. Limit the amount of times you are all in and how many times you call your opponents all in. You can't be calling 2 shoves even with QQ when you are short. What you think they will have no equity? Tournaments are more about survival than dominance according to Hellmuth who has been going strong since the 80s.
Most of us who play tourney's have been in this very spot. It feels like the poker gods have decided to make it personal, to single you out for max pain. It will turn around, brother. Keep the faith.
Can you ever fold QQs there? You could, with two jams ahead… I would have figured best case they both have AK, but could have KK, AA etc… I don’t know, could you have waited for a better spot?
I agree with a lot of people here, that late registration is a bad idea, unless you have a sound small stack strategy. I personally am more used to playing cash games more deep stacked, so I prefer to show up early for tournaments so I can play deeper. Obviously when you're deeper, you don't have to flip so frequently, and can maneuver more freely and not be committed to a hand. But that's just my opinion.
I suggest not shoving all in when you have 40BB+. The key to tournaments imo and to Phil Helmuth is to minimize how many times you go all in. You want to minimize the amount of times you are at risk. Put others at risk, not yourself
