Swan Song was fantastic, Dark Heresy was fantastic, everything Geoff was a part of was fantastic. Between this and his esport casting style, that man had such a flawless, effortless way at making a moment hilarious I honestly thought the original tweet about his passing would end in a punchline. A massive loss to all of the communities he was involved in. Absolutely won't be forgotten.
Same here, friend. That first Rollplay show got me through some dark days. I followed everything he did after that even though I know jack about Starcraft. Always loved watching him show up on The Co-Optional Podcast. I miss him so much
To a MUCH lesser degree, I had that feeling Zeke talking about with him. He was streaming XCOM and taking sub name suggestions, and I suggested some stupid name. I don't even remember what it was. But he laughed so hard, and ended up actually joking with Anna about it on stream. And I was so happy. I managed to make Geoff, this man who made me break down laughing through so many RollPlay moments, laugh with something stupid I said.
same. he was playing crusader kings 2 if not for the first time then it was early in his learning process and i made a stupid joke about how i had spent over a hundred hours failing at everything available in the game and the fact that he laughed at some dumb joke of mine made me way more proud than it probably should have.
He'll always be an absolute bloody legend. Rollplay got me into D&D, and Geoff was always a big damn star. The running jokes throughout the series were my favourite. I really want to go back and watch all of the seasons now, but dear god that's a lot of content. It's going to take a while.
I listen while gaming, it's a nice change from music and it fills the brain when playing something monotonous (like PoE for example, I can play that with like 1/3rd of my brain, so the rest gets bored).
One of my favorite Geoff moments is from Solum when Alice grapples the werewolf, and Victarian starts hammering the silver coin into its head. Then Neal looking on in disbelief unable to do anything about Geoff literally shattering his werewolf mystery with his smithing hammer it was glorious!
No joke, Rollplay is how I found out about d&d and I was watching for about a year before actually joining a d&d game myself. Geoff was actually the reason I joined a game cuz he made it all just look so fun and his sense of humor was something I really enjoyed. Swan Song and Solum were my favorite part of youtube and twitch and really got me trough some rough times :/ As sad as I am, I can't even imagine how Anna is feeling D: RIP legend
If it wasn't for Geoff and the original Rollplay crew I would never have gotten into D&D and found some of my best friends. We've been playing different systems and many campaigns over the last six years. Rest in Peace Geoff and thanks for helping me find some of my closest friends and my biggest hobby.
As someone who never knew or met Geoff personally it's incredible how much emotion and sadness I can feel at learning of his passing. Everything that I watched or saw Geoff in was amazing. He will be sorely missed, but remembered in the community forever ♥️
It's true. I've never met Geoff outside of one or two back and forth exchanges on his channel, and yet I feel like I'm going to miss him more than people I knew much more intimately.
Even though I heard about this on sunday, I still am in tears every time I hear about this. Geoff was such a fantastic individual, and while I never knew him personally, his wit and humour brought so much joy and happiness to my life. I don't think there was ever a rollplay show, a podcast, or anything else that Geoff interacted with that I didn't love and enjoy, because he was just the type of person that could make anything fantastic. He will be missed.
About to go back and watch all of swansong again. Geoff and TB were the reason I started watching rollplay and got to know all of you though the show. I thank them and all of you as well. He will be missed.
Shortly after Alpharius's (sp?) introduction to Swan Song, there was a bit where Geoff started google translating everything he said into Swahili and the entire cast lost their shit. That is one of a few bits of Roll Play my fiancée has seen, but she still regularly threatens to roll up characters who speak exclusively Swahili. Going to miss Geoff a great deal.
RIP. He was one of the reasons I started to follow this whole DnD biz. I had never heard of the guy before but I stumbled on this channel. The original RP, and him, JP , ryan, Jenn and Neal dragged me into this world. And the way he (and most of you) played, played it as a video game, as a movie, so much awesome. Ive loved everything he did since. He hasnt quit life, he moved on like his character Mr Sicarian did, to carry on in some other place. rip sir.
God damn. Geoff always added a lot to the dynamic since Swan Song. Guy became a much more considerate and cool dude as time went on, too: Really quality dude and I quite appreciated listening to him talk about starcraft. I'm sad to see him go.
Ive been with rollplay since the beginning, Geoff was byfar one of the largest contributers to this channel and series, he was a source of joy for everyone around him, i highly reccomend watching swan song as well as the 1st rollplay series, his role in those shows was phenomenal
Watching old StarCraft clips with incontrol in them then started searching for tributes and am happy to see so much content in role playing and war hammer and everything in between with incontrol. RIP
I remember way back in the original Rollplay when JP went off on Geoff and almost kicked him off the show. But then they came back together and talked about it because they were friends and each recognized their mistakes and pulled through together to create all the content we all so fondly remember. The power of friendship was always strong with Geoff, even in the hardest of times. He will be missed.
Geoff made me laugh so many times, on this show and others, starting with State of the Game. He was such a witty, humble and genuine person. He deserved so much more. I will miss him. Rest in peace.
Fuck this just hit me hard Geoff is and has always been one of my favorite people I've never met. He is a down right inspiration to me and I've learned a lot about positivity, humor, and how to have a respectful opinion from watching geoff. He was my first connection into the pro starcraft scene. He's brought so much good into my life since. I cant even fathom how the people who truly knew him feel about this terrible loss. I will always keep it positive and humorous in you're memory.
I started watching the original RollPlay back when I was an avid watcher of TB and was amazed and very excited when Dark Heresy happened. Me and my friends went on to play Dark Heresy, 4th edition dnd and then pathfinder - the 4th edition and pathfinder game is still going on and off to this day though with only 2 of the 6 original members. That was also when I started watching the games that Geoff and TB would cast for Starcraft. They were my favorite casters for that and got me interested in watching Starcraft, even recently I would often click on Starcraft videos to see if it was Geoff casting. Now both of them are gone and the world is worse off for it.
I had the pleasure of being one of his Moderators on Twitch and a long-time viewer, I got the chance to play CSGO with you both many times, and I'll never forget it. RIP bud. see you on the other side
I started watching RollPlay during the original season. After that, I never skipped shows that had Geoff in them. He will be missed. Praying for him and his family.
Geoff was one of my favorite people to see on Rollplay. While I love everyone that has ever been on one of your shows, JP, there's always been a special place in my heart for Geoff. Every time I saw his face on screen, I knew the whole crew (and audience for that matter) would have a great time. Like Adam was mentioning, I got into tabletop RPGS by watching your original Rollplay show with Neil and with Swan Song. The first tabletop game I ever Dm'd was modeled after Swan Song. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I'll never forget Geoff. It's a sad era indeed. Love you, Geoff.
I have always loved rollplay, but with work it was hard to watch regularly or catch up. The one thing that consistently brought me back was seeing Geoff in the cast. Loved the guy and will allways miss him going forward. All the love, you weird, hilarious man-child, you. Glad i could see you live a couple hundred times.
I loved watching the original Rollplay crew, and I watched every single JP show until the end of Swan Song and West Marches. They got me into DnD, and it was Geoff and the crew who thought me what DnD could be and what kind of players there are. I am now leading my own campaign as a DM.. recently started DMing, and I would not be where I am without them, and without Geoff. I was shocked to hear of his passing. I had been wearing my swan song t shirt just the night before during my session. I am really glad that the Rollplay community respects him this much. Rest in Piece! Show the other side what an amazing guy you are. You have earned the respect of so many people on this side. You will be missed.
Swansong was how I found this channel, it was and still is my favorite RP show that I have watched and Geoff was a big part of that. His energy, passion and humour with Rp and everything else (I especially loved his Warhammer 40k passion). While the rest of the cast members here are brilliant, and the ongoing shows are fantastic (really it is impressive how you all build consistently enjoyable content across all the various shows), the loss of Geoff will be felt. RIP man, may your dice rolls be critical successes in whatever happens next, or if that's it for us, may the energy you release back into the earth get recycled into as big of a fun-loving nerd as yourself.
My most memorable moment was in the original Roll Play. Party was going through the snowy mountain and getting attacked by a White dragon. The White dragon incapacitated the whole party. Everyone was immobile in snow and freezing. JP and Gen, bregor were all low HP and decided to tunnel deep in the snow and play dead. Geoff fucking went full man mode and 1 shot crit the dragon saving the entire party from an obvious death. RIP Geoff
I probably rewatched the Titan fight dozens of times. I had no idea role playing games could have an emotionally impact on you like that one did. I celebrated Geoff’s win and always wanted to have him in more shows. I’ll go back and rewatch Swan Song in my spare time now. RIP Geoff.
Been watching since the beginning, didn't just watch Geoff here, but Swan song and Solum are where I feel in love with him. It's his perfect mix of absolute seriousness with rules along with his unique ability to make people happy and laugh so hard. He was a great man and I will miss him dearly.
Rollplay how ever many years ago changed my life. When I started watching during the original show I had no clue what dnd was or anything, I fell In love with it and now 8+ years later I have ran multiple games and played in and Vincent was an inspiration for so many characters in my games. This hit me way harder than I expected... RIP Geoff I'm so sorry for the losses of those who were close to him and those of us who were touched by his performances!
I was shocked when I heard the news, because I had just watched his Chaos Knights codex video a few weeks ago and was looking forward to the rest of his 8th edition coverage.
I've been re-watching Swan Song recently and am about half way through the Ballad of Brumpo Tungus. I think imma take a break for a couple weeks and come back to it. The fallen will be forever remembered as The Emperor's finest.
I went back and watched clips around that whole "Geoff died tonight" after Janus died in CoS. It's as hilarious as it has become grim, and it brings out a lot of different feelings Bye Geoff, you'll be sorely missed.
From him making Day9 fall off his chair laughing on State of the Game #100 to getting me back into D&D as I watched the best slaps in the business as Vincent, Geoff will be sorely missed
Holy shit! What a shock, before I started this clip I thought he stopped streaming or something from the vid title. Never would have guessed he passed, young and healthy and so very alive and funny, what a shame and tremendous loss. Been watching JP streams since Original D&D season 1. Neal is a great DM and Adams stuff is just the absolute best, loved Mirrorshades and Swan Song. I usually dont comment just view, but I felt the need to say im so very sorry for your loss of a friend.
I've watched the stream for 3-4 years and never watched RollPlay (but maybe a few parts of streams), but I'm going to start Blades today because of all the stories I've heard of Geoff. RIP
No fucking way! I feel stunned man, sadly I've never met Geoff but in a weird way I kinda feel like I knew him ( the internet is a strange place). His humour and all around persona he showed on here was on my "wavelenght" for a lack of better word. My condolences to his family and all you guys in the Rollplay community, this is a sad day indeed. Rest in peace Geoff.
For those missing Geoff role-playing content, he was prominently featured on Jesse Cox's The Sunfall Cycle, and brought his no nonsense style of gaming to that series.
Swan Song was what got me into your streams and I am so devastated, he was such a good person and he will be missed. Anybody else binge watching his roleplay content?
I'm behind on CoS so I thank you for releasing this portion on its own. Most of my exposure to Geoff was the phenomenal work he did on this channel but anytime I caught him casting and discussing Starcraft or Warhammer40k elsewhere he was every bit as funny and clever as he was on Rollplay. I bust a gut laughing many times throughout Swan Song and the OG Rollplay DnD show largely thanks to his magnificent comedic timing and insane roleplaying logic. JP hit the nail on the head about how he was a shining example of being a total nerd without being overbearing about it. I really should go back and watch the rest of Blades at some point or even rewatch some Swan Song. May he rest in peace.
Thanks for posting this video... Geoff was a huge part of the reason i ever started to watch twitch... found sc2... found the dnd community ... was introduced to streamers like JP/Koibu... incontrol was taken too soon, RIP big guy
There were several times on that original RollPlay campaign where Neal threw shit at the party that by rights should have been a wipe, but then Vincent Longborn went man-mode and killed fucking everything and saved the day. What a legend.
Its because of Geoff that my D&D world had to incorpirate the Long Bourne kingdom into its lore a powerful kingdom with a powerful legacy. but as Geoff has passed i feel it fitting to say this, his campaign has ended but the lives he affected in passing or in influcence will still go on and that in turn makes him immortal
WHAT?! God damnit, first TB and now Geoff?! People, if something unusual happens to your body, consult your physician, be it blood in your stool or a weird unilateral leg pain! I don't know if that's what happens to Geoff, but a weird leg pain is how deep vein thrombosis initially presents itself usually and is the number one cause of pulmonary embolism. Source: Am doctor.
This is the first video ive watched of yours in a year... What the fuck.... So sad to come back and hear this, I don't really have time to play games so I am so happy that I got sometime to at least listen to people having fun playing table top games. It hurts knowing theres one less amazing roll player in the tabletop world out there.
Ffs... i was on vacation, was off social media. I check my phone on a buss coming back from a day trip with a tour group. Gues whos wearing shades at 9 pm trying not to audibly weep... RIP Geoff
We probably battled a lot on the ladders for BW without even knowing each other back in the day. It was his solid characters that he made come to life, along with JP especially and the early guests on Roleplay who prevented me from taking my life after I had a stroke. After even more bad shit it came to a head again... and I noticed he had started streaming on twitch and I got in early one day when he's just chatting with the audience. It was that he noticed. He took a moment of his and his entire audience time to say some nice words to me. Geoff, I owe you a bottle of Blue Label.
Incredibly sad news. Was shocked when I saw this yesterday. Prayers and love to his family. He was truly a blessing, spending his short amount of time bringing immense joy to others.
One of the hardest times I ever laughed as Geoff (with Day9 laughing because his laughter is so contagious) ranting about horses on SotG. Or what is Artosis. Nobody could just let it rip like Geoff when he got on a roll.
I was so looking forward to him playing on Destiny's new show and just how that interaction of personalities would play out. I loved his take on things too, actually seemed very unique amongst many others who are already in a community of unique people, if that makes sense. Whole thing just sucks. Look after yourselves people!
I've only really seen Geoff in connection with roleplaying shows, but he was special. I've more than once been close to falling into the trap of believing thathe was only cabable of being, pardon my wording, but I'm not sure how else to say it right now, a low-brow douche. One of those guys with the emotional maturity of an 8-year-old. Some of the characters he's played that were basically just walking talking fart and sex jokes with personalities that only seemed to frustrate and annoy me, probably partly by just not speaking to my sense of humour. But then there were characters like Mr. Sicarian. Geoff wasn't limited to crude and/or low-brow humour. He had a depth to him and an ability to turn even a goofy situation into a truly touching one. He had an incerdibly wide range of themes and moods in, not just individual scenes, but also over-arching narratives that he did SO well. I'm not sure I've seen another roleplayer being so consistently able to let funny characters have emotional or serious moments, or vice-versa, without them feeling out of place, awkward, or otherwise 'wrong' or weird. He will be missed. I will miss seeing him on the shows... My love and support goes to everyone out there. May he forever dine in the meadhalls on Sigrid.
Never forget he took down an entire pirate ship with 1 hp and and a fake bomb threat!!! Geoff was my favorite

Dark Heresy is what turned me onto this channel in a big way, and I LOVED John & Geoff on that show... now they're both gone.
Been here since Bregor's Boys RIP Geoff. Many laughs and badass moments!
But he laughed so hard, and ended up actually joking with Anna about it on stream.

he once stream sniped me playing xcom 2, i went from 5 viewers to a couple hundred, ended up adding sicarian to that run and he carried the squads

Fuckkk.... so many good content creators passing away recently. You will be missed Geoff
Man as soon as I heard about Geof, I started remembering swansong and Dark Heresy with TB. You will be missed Geof RIP.
Mr. Sicarian and Howard the Octopus.... That entire ordeal was beautiful and amazing
Gone but never forgotten. Geoff was a one of a kind dude and he will be dearly missed.
Even though I heard about this on sunday, I still am in tears every time I hear about this.
RIP Geoff. He will always be remembered. I will never be able to forget Mr. Sicarian
RIP Geoff, my sincerest condolences.
There were several times on that original RollPlay campaign where Neal threw shit at the party that by rights should have been a wipe, but then Vincent Longborn went man-mode and killed fucking everything and saved the day. What a legend.
I hadn't heard the news until today. I went looking for something else and bam there it was. Geoff passed far too soon.
:( no way. Roll Play way how I discovered D&D. Good memories. Rest in peace
He better have some Ultramarines as pallbearers 😢. Emperor be with you, you sweet power gamer, you. Time to go watch some Geoff clips.
Thank Y'all for this.
I give a look that says I'm feeling all my feelings and that's okay
Its because of Geoff that my D&D world had to incorpirate the Long Bourne kingdom into its lore a powerful kingdom with a powerful legacy. but as Geoff has passed i feel it fitting to say this, his campaign has ended but the lives he affected in passing or in influcence will still go on and that in turn makes him immortal
Half of the Dark Heresy cast passed away this year. Unbelievable.
Yea it's so crazy and sad to think about.
Not this year. Last year's was TB

RIP Geoff
even in passing geoff will make all rollplayers hard, even if it takes a whole saga
I knew geoff more from Starcraft, man I was always so happy to see him he was hilarious. Very sad
He will ride into the sunset every day on his grav tank.
will miss Geoff, he was a cool guy
Damn. two of the greatest Sc2 personalities go ne allready
Thanks for putting this together
I miss him already
I clicked on this thinking he'd just left the show or something, didn't expect that news... Holy shit o.0
F
He will be missed.
My heart has broken.
Rip Geoff. I’ll miss him.
I honestly don't know what to think at the moment. I am just sitting here remembering so many moments and bad ass memories of him. Fuck this sucks.
The Ballad of Brumpo Tungus is my favorite arc in all of RollPlay
He’s the reason I watch live roleplays.
I’m two months late and DAMN this is some shit dude... sigh. 😔 Rest In Peace.
I learned Geoff passed from GW, the put out a short memorial article on the Warhammer Community website
God I'm going to miss Geoff.
i miss him
Geoff seemed like the type of guy that if he was walking with crutches and saw you limping, he’d give you his crutches and tell you to keep going.
One of the hardest times I ever laughed as Geoff (with Day9 laughing because his laughter is so contagious) ranting about horses on SotG. Or what is Artosis. Nobody could just let it rip like Geoff when he got on a roll.
Where's this clip of Geoff in blades? I need to watch that again
Sad loss, im watching the tungus episodes now
He was about to start his Witcher 3 playthrough... 😢 Now we'll never see it. My thoughts with his family and loved ones. Entaro Incontrol!
I was so looking forward to him playing on Destiny's new show and just how that interaction of personalities would play out. I loved his take on things too, actually seemed very unique amongst many others who are already in a community of unique people, if that makes sense. Whole thing just sucks. Look after yourselves people!
Just realized that I still have hailing sound that Geoff made in swan song as a notification sound in my phone.
What the f is happening? Two days ago I find out about the KyotoAni fire, now Geoff is gone? I kind of feel shellshocked.
