But, WHY even consider reframing in FCPX? 1.BECAUSE, keeping the reframing in FCPX gives you complete flexibility throughout the edit/reediting. If you are creating an involved, complicated video it is very advantageous to be able to reframe INSIDE your video editing project (not have to go back to the original Insta 360 footage/stitching.) BUT, FCPX's lack of easing in/out is a deal-breaker. 2.The above video is not the best example - it is intentionally sped up and emphasizes the mechanical-like motion of its subject. In most videos, though, creators would want to show more naturalistic motion. BUT in FCPX camera moves (reframing) without easing in/out are intolerably mechanical-feeling. 3. The only choice is to reframe in the Insta360 Studio desktop app which provides excellent easing options. OF COURSE, if FCPX DID have ease in/out, then I could do ALL my reframing in FCPX (see #1.)
Thanks for the comments. I definitely did not intentionally hide that there isn’t easing options. I wish it had easing options as well. I chose the video because I wanted to have some fun. I wish that Final Cut had easing options as well. This video isn’t meant to be some ads for why Final Cut is great it is simply a video showing users how to reframe in Final Cut. It lacking easing is a huge miss on FCPX and frankly it is embarrassing at this point. There is ZERO EXCUSE for them not have already added this feature. Thanks for watching and the comment.
It is hard to know exactly without being able to see but my best guess is that your footage is right out of camera versus converting and stitching it through the insta360 desktop app first. Is that the case? What file format are the files you are importing? If they are ready to import in the example I used in the video then they should be .mov files.
