    Same as Cornwell too. I just got the set of 21/22 & 24/27. Nobody else I could find had 27mm. They were $260 for the pair. Best wrenches for doing lift kits and alignments. The offset is perfect for clearing the alignment cam pin on Chevy trucks and the 27 is crucial for for the alignment cams that come with a lot of lift kits.

    I just ordered a set from matco today. I already have the 21/22 and 24/25. They are beefy and super handy for alignments and whatever else you need that reach for...I have had the gearwrench 120xp long flex wrenches for 4 or 5 years and have never liked them. They break easily and they will round things off, very loose fitting more so than my matcos. Snap on has a nice 12 point non offset non reversible set for 570.00 ...

    Are these easy to rebuild if something breaks. I am asking because I see a number of people selling broken ones on Ebay? Not necessarily HF, specifically I have seen Mountain and EZ-RED for sale which are all Kabo made. Why would you buy a broke one on line? Unless you knew exactly what was wrong with it and you had a solution to fix it?

  • @Beee_Ceee
    @Beee_Ceee 4 роки тому +4

    I was actually scoping the set last night on the S-O truck (Mountains) when the rep showed me the new snap on versions which are really nice but i wasnt about to get into pricing I alraedy knew they would be an arm and a leg. If he would of kept his mouth shut i probably would of walked out with the Mountains but now gotta pick these up at HF only thing thing what would really be truelly handy would be a fixed non ratcheting closed 0° end that you can break with and fip it over and keep going working on buses poses plenty of obstruction and the 0° offset always always applies the most torque I feel.

    They are great for working on modern cars with everything shoehorned into the bay. Lines everywhere, hoses, parts and the bolt can't be reached easily and never mind even grabbing on the recessed bolts' head. These will do the job. I wouldn't use then to break a bolt or nut on suspension but most engine parts are low torque anyway.

      They're not, I have all 3. The platinums feel the cheapest with less fine teeth, the icon feel duralast quality with fine teeth but a loud clicking mechanism, and the matcos actually have a much higher quality ratcheting mechanism that's fine tooth but spins buttery smooth in comparison.

    Harbor Freight has these wrenches for regular price of $224.00 right now. I found the default manufacturer (Platinum Tech) online and ordered a set for $140.00. They are kind of flimsy for a wrench, but they work! I wouldn't use them to loosen a bolt, as the splines dug into the head of a caliper bolt I removed and I had to use a punch to push the bolt out of the wrench, once I got it off the car.

      They are difficult to disassemble I think they either have a very thin low profile snappering right around the edge of the rotating part or maybe held in by the pawl itself. You would have to try to use a very thin point 001 or point 002 shim stock and work it around the edge of the rotating part to disassemble them. Pretty much the only hand tool parts are for normal ratchets

    i hate spline drive. the issue is that the loading is closer to the fastener corner. i've noticed that i've damaged some 12pt heads when using the correct spline size on them, a true 12pt tool loads the fastener farther from the corners. that being said, 12pt fasteners are pretty high performance and generally torqued far above their 6pt counterparts, the issue specificially for me was on jet engines with smaller bolts, 7/32 to 5/16 not sure if this would improve or worsen as sizes increase.

    These wrenches are a must. Remember, the same people that brake these are the same people that put cheater pipes on 1/4 ratchets. My favorite versions are made by Gearwrench. Fixed box end on 1 side and ratcheting on the other. Newer ones have 120xp flexhead design which are nice. If you use the fix head to "break" free a fastener you'll never have any issues.

    Still have my original moutains from many years ago i know how easy they break. A lot of my co workers used them to break fastners loose then they would break the joint or the ratchet part and the snap on and matco guys would give us resistance on exchanging them but after a fight they would eventually. Just never use them to break off tighten fasteners.
