I'm black myself but this documentary tries so hard to paint a picture of complete innocence of the boys involved and I don't fully buy it. I don't think Ade deserves 8 years but he he had one foot in and one foot out. He did so much amazing stuff but he still had some form of affiliation with the streets. He dropped a whole postcode and the social workers defence was 'no one went to the address', do you know how crazy that sounds? It's not about whether they went or not, its about the INTENT behind dropping the postcode in the first place!
Talk about church and all, let's refer to scripture. Christ says in new testament that we murder in our hearts - we do not need to definitively perform the act of killing, unjustly, in order to be deemed murderers in gods eyes and therefore to sin the ultimate sin against the holy ghost. He is guilty as sin.
Why would you talk online!?. And why do people do this things for no gains.?. After you kill sombody, your chances to be happy later in Life is gone.(if not for an psycopath). Beauty is gone forever.
i dont blame Ade for being upset but bro was hanging out with people who clearly were doing gang shit and he was sending out death threats Also claiming that this is "black youth culture" to be chasing eachother down with knives and running people over is so fuckin racist its insane
I agree! He was not a criminal or took part in any of the gang activities. Saying the wrong things, at the wrong time. Hang out with rotten fruit, eventually one gets infected!
It’s disgusting to ascribe such behaviour to “black” culture. racists would have a field day with this. This behaviour doesn’t represent black people. Only a small part. And yeah, it is a problem within black communities but to say it’s part of a wider culture is crazy.
@@alana4988 Hahahaha deluded. Bring these people into the country and along comes their culture 🙄 send them to Rwanda and let them chase each around with machetes there
they are not saying chasing people with knives is black youth culture, they're referring to ade who didnt do any of that, and how stuff like taking a picture with money is black youth culture (which it is) but that was used as evidence of gang affiliation.
That youth worker is stretching. A non violent chase?!? I’m guessing the guy dropped his phone and they were just trying to catch up with him to give it back? 🙄 Also, suggesting that making drill music with lyrics about gangs and postcodes etc is “normal black youth behaviour “ is straight up racist
Black youth culture yes. 100% That’s not racist to state Same way it’s not racist to say south Asian done really go outside their group of people. Or white propel cook the blandest food
This is not black culture. This is gang culture. This is crime, full stop. They were going round committing crimes, just because they were 'friends from church' doesn't stop it being a gang or atleast violent and criminal. They're carrying knives and plotting to harm others. I was caught up in the same stuff when I was a young kid and luckily nothing like murder transpired but I could have very easily been sent down if it did and I'd only have myself to blame. I was mixing with the same kinds of kids (all different ethnicities), trying to be tough. Our communities need to take responsibility, parents need to take responsibility. Being from a poor area isn't an excuse. I've been chased like in that 'non-violent chase' by people with knives, it doesn't feel non-violent when you know if you stop you could be dead. How anyone can think the police haven't done the right thing here is beyond me. Lenient sentences will just encourage more crime. The Youth Worker is delusional too, for a start drill music isn't 'just' an art form when they're actively talking about who they're going to hurt, everything about it is about violence. Here's an idea, change the narrative, stop rapping about guns and hurting people. Stop rapping about the people from the other side you're going to kill. And one lapse in judgement isn't an excuse when someone's life it at risk. They need to start taking responsibility and stop blaming everyone else.
Gang culture is black culture. Lets be real. You man would rather be a broke g then a minted lame. And that's the real problem here. You man's concerned with how you look to the world. And you actually try and look like goons. But then your surprised when the general public look at you like goons.
I agree, however the documentary surrounds the trial of Ade, he wasn't involved in the drill music scene. Had a three of their songs on his phone and all he did was send a postcode (where no crimes happened) to the groupchat. I understand criminal convictions the others with greater involvement. But growing up in a rough area, you're in a class with these people, work assignments together etc. A great example is Stormy, he was gang affiliated and participated in anti-social behaviour in my neighbourhood growing, everyone still listens to his music...
@@Emmanuellei Ade was complicit in two separate occasions where "a knife was used" on a person. He had no moral issues with being an accessory and witness to these crimes. To then share the postcode shows that he had intent to do harm. It's like me hiring a hitman who doesn't get around to committing the full crime.
The bias in this documentary is astonishing. Good people don't sit in group chats passing out postcodes to killers and flexing money. At that point your fully involved.
The flexing money was a non-issue. You and I both know that it doesn't actually prove anything. The postcodes being put in a group chat actively discussing taking revenge for murder is not a good look and almost certainly ties you to any conspiracy to commit murder.
04:56 Do you hear yourself? "A non-violent chase at their college"! What were they chasing someone for? To return money they borrowed? To invite them to a party? To help them with their homework? If someone is chasing me that in itself is a violent act: they are trying to get near to me to assault me or to steal from me. There is no legitimate reason to chase someone. Chasing someone is a credible threat of violence and should be considered a crime. It's even worse this was at a school where ALL kids should be and feel safe.
@@tobiadeyemo3992 the majority of black people behave like this and should be jailed accordingly. Black on black Stabbings in London, black peoples constantly mugging civilians, so yes black people are the problem
I feel sorry for this Ade bloke and even sorrier for his not so popular mates and the politically incorrect CPS. Now these jailed boys might needlessly become even harder criminals than they ever imagined to avoid.
The kid gave them the victims address? Why are people questioning why he got sentenced? Would you defend someone giving pedophiles the details of underage girls? No you wouldn’t 🤦♂️
Did you actually watch the documentary?? That wasn’t their address it’s a location where they frequently hang out and nothing happened there. Please turn on your brain before fixing your fingers to type nonsense online because you sound very dumb. Time Stamps 4:14 onwards.
'This can happen to anyone in a group chat!'* *if your friends are actively chasing people down in the street with knives and trying to kill people whilst you supply them with information
Exactly , everyone’s a victim nowadays when they have to face fact . Or at least there’s some stupid media source that creates a wrongdoing narrative. This shouldn’t of even been a documentary.
@livingitup Na this could only catch out kids. As a grown adult I would automatically remind my friends of the consequences of harming that person ie prison life being over. If my friend or associate then makes the conscious decision to take that persons life then i have nothing to do with it. Because even the police say well why didn’t you call the police. My response can be that I never thought that he would go through with it and i was also never at the scene.
Exactly. If I chat with my friends about being really cross with someone, no one is suggesting to kill them, or providing the group (where members shared they want revenge) with the person's address/postal code. I don't hang out with thugs so none of us would be plotting revenge. We'd vent, of course, and support each other in case of a loss. But you know what, my friend don't get killed in gang violence because none of us are in a gang! Yes sometimes an innocent bystander gets killed but these were all people who were into a criminal lifestyle or knowingly socialised with people who were in a criminal lifestyle. You lay down with dogs you come up with fleas.
@@tessaadie659 The point is what was the purpose and intent of sharing that postcode, which is personal information that can be detrimental if handed over to the wrong person aka a knife wielding and grieving gangster.
He was involved with gang members. Was caught contributing in a group telegram chat (an app synonymous with dodgy activity). Dabbled in drill music, which describes violence a lot more and in more detail than hip hop or rap has ever done. His problem is that people are tired of sharing oxygen with gangs and anti-socials. By "people", I mean honest, hardworking citizens who just want to make a better life for themselves and their families without hurting anyone else. They are pitched against the perp's families, friends and sympathisers (like the Youth Worker who claimed it was a "non-violent chase" smh), because these are often damaged individuals who are against the establishment by default, and see in these situations an opportunity to show allegiance to their side, as well as channel their anger and disaffection with society.
Funny how these people want to portray themselves as tough gangsters but when they caught out, they’re suddenly “good boys, aspiring footballers and would never harm anyone”
That's probably what the jury thought too. Hence the conviction that had no weight on their true characters...look at people in UA-cam today who pretend to be tough but really they are not aka sneako
What is heart breaking is the women who is meant to support these young men and lawyer in London think black culture is gang culture. So when young black men grow up in the west they take on gang culture traits. Traits that you see in no majority black country, only in western white countries because that's what fed to the people!
Funnily enough even as a black woman I also feel I have to mindful of how I’m perceived based on very normal behaviour, for example keeping my hands visible when in retail areas as you know we are already profiled as shoplifters a lot of the time
@@mimid6354 The worst part about that is that even with black as well as white security guards, I still feel as though I have to keep my hands visible at all times. It's like we can't catch a break

Yeah, they must everyone else is thick to believe the garbage they are talking. We all know what’s happened here, violent gangster bastards have been held to account, and because it’s the first time in their lives that it’s happened, they’re gobsmacked, can’t believe it, and think they’re hard done by. Enjoy jail.
Her whole part in this was to play down everything to paint a different story than reality. She is part of the problem! She thinks drill rappers and gang culture is black culture and then says the public sees all black men as gangsters 🤦🤡
I thought there was an injustice here. Na bro you gave up one of people’s postcode address in the chat that conspiring my man. Regardless if no violence happened at that address you’ve taken part in a discussion that has lead to someone ending up dead giving information to where they might be found. Any teenager could get caught out in that situation thinking its indirect but it’s conspiring as soon as a crime is committed. The uk justice system is still very prejudice towards black males giving longer sentences for the same crimes as other races. However I don’t think they got this one wrong unless we scrap the conspiracy to commit a crime out of the law book which will never happen. What this teen participated in was a conspiracy to murder.
I love how they briefly glossed over the postcodes. Yes, those postcodes were not linked to anyone being harmed but the sheer fact that you posted them in a group actively discussing murder as revenge can only mean one thing. Sometimes people really don't help themselves.
He was posting postcodes for the mandem to roll up on aswell as posting himself with grands . He was clearly moving weight and involved In crime why should I feel bad again?

He really did shoot his 'good character' in the backside when sending that Snapchat message about killing someone for talking nonsense about him. Everyone's a 'good boy' when they get sent down. It's death by association, choose your friends wisely or this is the result. No one to blame but himself.
Not a better word typed, that's what the young folks don't realise till it's too late.... All big boy shoes untill they do big boy badness then it's oh that's not me..... Always innocent in the mind after the fact but can't see or won't see what THEY did....
everyone wants to be a gangster until they actually need to face the consequences.. those are some of the most delusional people i´ve ever seen in a documentary. "this can happen to anyone in a group chat" yeah.. no.
This only happens to people who voluntarily socialise with violent criminals and who go along with talks about committing crimes. This wouldn't happen to any of my immediate family, my friend, or co-workers.
Nonsense comment. I support young people in schools. Kids go to school, and disagreements, arguments, or fights happen with most young people from different backgrounds, races, and cultures. All it takes is ONE situation and these modern children and young people start talking, arguing and plotting on group chats, which often results in large groups involved in an organised fight or a stabbing.
The thing is. If someone you love is killed in a violent way, thoughts of revenge will go through your mind. What would be helpful is great mentoring that takes over when these instances take place. Mentoring & counselling offered to the friends & family that can help them to redirect their anger. Ade just needed to remember that with all the positive he was doing already, that could have been the best tribute to his friend. All he needed to do was continue. This is just a sad case & any teenager could have got caught up in it.
Or people could stop having the kids they don’t want to look after. Kids that don’t get love at home will go out and look for it in the wrong places. Mentoring is for when we have already failed.

@@onlythejugg but it will stop you from getting stupid ideas of turning into a vigilante and copying drill and gang culture. And will probably prevent the issue in the first place.
But the people who listen to it aren’t necessarily involved in criminal activity. You can’t use lyrics from a song to support an argument you wouldn’t win if it wasn’t there. Plenty of artists sing/rap about real life events, but that doesn’t mean their fans have committed a crime.
It sounds to me that Ade was conflicted between two worlds, the world where he wants to achieve and be successful, and the other trying to fit in with his group of friends who some may be up to no good. Bad company corrupts good character. You can be wrong from an act or an omission (a failure to act). At the very least he was aware that revenge was on the table but he made a mistake as many young people do. 8 years is a disproportionate sentence imo.
Everyone is conflicted between two worlds. There is no good or evil people, they are just all on a spectrum between the two. Often times the most nice people have the darkest side like the serial killer next door type thing. Even in cases like this. Look up the case of 'Dip Dat" he just finished his A levels and has set to go off to one of the most fancy universities in the country! Yet because he was involved in this gang and drill music scene and created a song or 'sent for' the wrong person who killed him two months before he left.

The reason he was stabbed was because of an ongoing fund between the 2 groups, and he was identified as being part of 1 gang. White gangs have also been jailed for attacks, even if they didn't actually do anything. The fact that that ridiculous woman said "they chased him but it was non violent" it was only non violent because they didn't catch him!!
Those people will try to stick any illogical arguments just to make it sound like like he was a good boy. Worst thing is that many people are too stupid to realize that they're defending a criminal. The fact that 'drill' is popular proves how narrow minded they are and 'they' is you know who

Well done, whilst I think he has been wrongly sentenced, I believe other things which he shouldn’t have been doing has got him into trouble. In the UK, there isn’t a law that could justly imprison him- it seems to have been a miscarriage of justice. However from what I could tell, I believe God would have a problem with a lot of the associations he had and the way he spoke and what he listened to. Just makes me wish more black youth stopped listening to Digga D and started reading Thomas Sowell. The problem _is_ the culture. These black kids view their lives as expendable because they’re being told either by their parents or the establishment that they’re starting off on the back foot (despite the fact that for the last few years the lowest performing group has been white male boys), so where are their aspirations coming from? Their environment. Cliques have existed for generations, as a kid I was part of several friendship groups and gangs, but we never had drill music telling us it’s cool to have “opps”. We never had Snapchat, so we never felt the rush of creating a buzz over some online beef that then turns into real life violence. These kids need education, but race has nothing to do with it, poor kids come in all shades and religions - if you don’t know that then you’re not from there and you definitely don’t visit.
You have to give them something to relate too ,Tomas Sewell is not a rapper/musician to my knowledge so why would they listen to him? Akala would be more appropriate!
You were on the right tracks before you offered up excuses for the scum bags blaming parents or the establishment. They think they're all bad men and thats nothing to do with parents or the establishment. Yes most the parents are probably crap but "the community" and their "culture" is to blame.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but here it is: if you are claiming you are not a member of a gang, wearing a balaclava probably doesn’t help. Wearing a balaclava is almost always used with the purpose of concealing one’s identity, black or white. The purpose of anonymity is often crime. In conclusion, black or white, it’s hard to claim that you aren’t in a gang if you are wearing a balaclava.

This heavy sentence and convictions are preventative and due to something that was obviously escalating and while this lad may have had a promising career he obviously was provoking and instigating stoking a situation that other's who may have had less ambitions may have been easily influenced by someone like him that wished to sit on the periphery... There's too much knife etc violence led by this behaviour and music that also fuels and stokes situation with negative lyrics. The people have no one but themselves to blame.. Many lives may have been saved and victims prevented by these convictions and this is nothing to do with innocence and "black culture" it's to do with copycat crime. I've been stabbed in my lung twice. In my kidney, hit in the head with an axe. Sliced down my back with Stanley blades. I'm scared from head to toe. I know exactly what it's like to be entrapped in that life and way of thinking. Your mind is some where else. All you care about is music, lyrics ya gang, how other people view when they see you. You live for street cred. There's obviously a lot of social factors that are way too many to go through and explain how they impact the mind of a child. Poverty, house with no father, education, etc. But my gripe is music. Drill and trap music that glorifies that way of life. The BBC will show crying mothers and a picture of the dead child and flowers where he died. Condemn the perpetrators, and then on BBC 1 extra you can hear the music that's brainwashing these kids to do the shit they are doing. Any way....lucky enough. But a sad set of circumstances. I found my self in jail again with my daughter's mother pregnant and my son out side with out me. I couldn't look him in the eyes on my prison wall pictures. I refused to let him come to the jail. And the same jail that I used to visit my dad in and in the same visiting room. I've been out of trouble for 5 years now. I know it's not a long long time. But I'm finally away from all this madness and loop that predominately black youth young adults find themselves in. It's only an issue now. Because it's affecting white Youth. I hate how our government is so out of touch with our culture. My life has gone like this... Born into a poor white family, went into foster care at 14, became homeless at 16, went to jail for 6 months at 20, helped by a church at 22, moved into a youth hostel at 24, became a youth worker at 26, fell in love at 27, fell out of love at 29. Studied computer science ever since then while also joining the army for 3 years at 33 until I was 36 and completing a degree in chemistry while serving. I'm now 40 and feel like I have a unique perspective on everything because of my history and would be a better prime minister than any of the one's we've had, but I also know they would never accept someone like me into their club. We need people with real leadership qualities, not politicians and lawmakers.
It is sad to see how the youth of Africa origin are squandering the opportunity to make something of their lives. We are privileged to have the advantages offered in the west. Education, rule of law, job opportunity, so many wish for that. Yet he wants to associate with negativity to try and fit in, instead of focusing on the positivity and growth. How can a 'church' have drill music?
@@theone77443 how is the comment naive? I will say the sentence seems somewhat harsh. However, we can simultaneously acknowledge there are challenges for youth in general and more specifically within large urban inner city environments and also accept that there is a negative and destructive culture which is leading the youth astray. Call it drill music or whatever else, it promotes intolerance, anger, violence and a criminal persuasion. This attempt to conflate criminal behaviour with so called 'black' youth culture is a disservice to all the youths who stick to learning their books and walking a straight line under immense peer pressure.
Most of these people have moved away from their African cultures. I live a perfectly normal life in Kenya and we dont have a culture of ‘gangs’ like these. Yes we have petty criminals who rob you of your belongings, but if you comply, 9/10 youll walk away with your life. The punishment is always harsh when the accused is black. Empathy is lost because there are already preconceived ideas of what all teenage black boys are like. It's important for you to show this documentary to all your black sons who may think they are not a threat to society, because in all honesty, they are guilty by skin colour. They also look at this culture you call black culture and hate it and understand it is a white creation to ruin the black community and that's why it's only found in the west! African parents would beat there children if they ever started doing anything like these boys. Because Africans raise, doctors, engineers, bankers and IT people, western black culture raises gangsters and drill rappers and calls it black culture! That's why my friends are African because they still have their culture! I would never be friends with anyone white or black who thinks this is good or "black culture" because that is straight up racist!
In areas where the population is predominately white, the prison population is predominately white. Where the population has a high proportion of Asian people in prison It is where the Asian population live. Theses two groups get exactly the same sentences as each other. While I agree with you that there are negative perceptions about black boys in particular because of stereotyping,, it must be recognised that in areas of high population of black people, there will be a higher instance of black crime. The sentencing for those crimes is likely to be the same as any other group. Concentration on on specific groups in an area skews perception towards thinking that group is disfavoured when that is not the case.
This video should serve as a microcosm for anyone who says that black people don't pretend and defend when it comes to thug culture being the prevalent aspect of black youth life. They literally say it in this documentary.

It's literally free at point of care on the NHS to get birth control. USE IT.
Very well said, thank You!

04:56 Do you hear yourself? "A non-violent chase at their college"! What were they chasing someone for? To return money they borrowed? To invite them to a party? To help them with their homework?

Naive comment
Never in all my years of living in Kenya have I ever been fearful of being stabbed or shot at because of a stupid postcode war.
That culture is not African at all. I dont know where it comes from
@@theone77443 No you are a naive for not accepting the simple facts presented! People like you push the narrative that black culture is gang culture! No place in Africa or any black country has these cultural values! They are created in western countries to destory black communities!
@@zack7438 EXACTLY!! These people think this is there culture! But no black country has this! It's a western invention to ruin the black community. Just like creating single mothers, promiscuity and all the other liberal ideology they have. But they don't realize they are supporting there own problems and losing there true culture and nature!
It doesn't take strength to hate someone and seek revenge, it takes strength and courage to forgive them! Impact of finding those people and tell them oepnly that you forgive them would have much greater impact on everyones lives than just passing on the hate....
I disagree. Both acts take strength. Acting with malice towards someone drains tremendous amounts of energy from you. Where the two acts differ is in polarity. One is positive and one is negative, but both take a lot of strength to carry out.
Further twist to the conspiracy - does anyone else suspect the Youth Worker was involved? It’s astonishing how defensive she is about what happened and she seems to know a lot of the finer details and seems supportive of the activities in general. I reckon she’s Youth Worker by day and Gangster’s Moll by evening
The punishment is always harsh when the accused is black. Empathy is lost because there are already preconceived ideas of what all teenage black boys are like. It's important for you to show this documentary to all your black sons who may think they are not a threat to society, because in all honesty, they are guilty by skin colour. People will say it's the "race card" but I have experienced this with my own "good, quiet, goal oriented, business focused" 15 year old son.
Stop crying wolf !
@@lukemurray4950 “most like your business savvy son is a drug dealer” .. I rest my case. All you have done is confirmed the point that I’ve made. It’s not possible for you to think in your mind that a young black boy can do business legally. Also if you only think there are only 2 types of black boys, then again, you are completely uninformed. “Nerdy or in a gang” does not describe the vast majority of black boys. Get informed & stop looking at black people from the outside & thinking you know what we are all like. You have no idea..
@@MrsBalfour2U again you just twisted what I said to fit your narrative! I said your business savvy son is most likely a drug dealer because much like the women in the doc, you twist very and clearly negative things to seem positive! Yet you twist that around to make out like I am saying you son must be a drug dealer because he is black!
I and others do not view normal black people as criminals but those who run around in balaclavas with knives, guns big stacks of cash, large amounts of drugs and rap about being this gangster who stabs people and how you think that's cool yes 100% those black boys are considered gangsters..... JUST LIKE THE WHITE ONES WHO DO THE SAME!!!
People like you say black culture is this and you push this narrative to young black men when it is not!
And no I don't think there is two types of black boys again another narrative you just made up!
And this is exactly why when you say "my business savvy son" why would I believe what you say on face value?? To you drill music is peaceful black culture, to you "a non violent chasing" is a legit thing. "A mostly peaceful protest is a legit thing" it is you who makes negative things black people do seem like black culture and then complain when black people are associated with that!
My group of friends is mainly African and none of them or their families have any of this in their culture!
@@MrsBalfour2U seems UA-cam deleted my comment because it doesn't like truth but I appreciate the reply none the less. Hope you see mine.
I pray that God protects my children from this bad groups
This video should serve as a microcosm for anyone who says that black people don't pretend and defend when it comes to thug culture being the prevalent aspect of black youth life. They literally say it in this documentary.
This is honestly the most ridiculous documentary ive laid eyes on. And that youth woker is a straight up danger with how her thought process works
Their own fault. Hang about in a gang and you'll eventually pay the price.
18:15 Where were the parents? Did any of these boys/young men grow up with their father? It's up to us women to only have kids when we are in a committed relationship with a good man who will be a good father, who wants to become a father, after we've finished tertiary education or a traineeship and are in stable employment (same for the man) and stable housing. It's literally free at point of care on the NHS to get birth control. USE IT. It's why I was able to have adult relationships and not have kids so I could pursue university and finish with a science PhD. All these mothers have made choices along the way that resulted in this. Some of them should probably never had kids in the first place. It's not the government's job up raise kids. How many of these boys/young men have already knocked up some girl?! They failed themselves, their parents failed them, and their community failed them. It's not up to the rest of society to raise your kids. Don't have kids if you're not in a good place in life, but the women who had these kids probably never thought further ahead than tomorrow or next week or next month. They date l0sers that bail. Have kids by different men. Don't work or only in low wage jobs because they never went to school past 16. That's not anyone's fault but their own. You hardly if every see these kinds of violent crimes in middle class families. And it's not about a difference in money at home. It's not like these guys are stealing to pay their mother's rent...
Drill music = issuing threats to kill
Seeing these kinda vids just makes you wanna work that much harder in life to be able to move to the Mayfair/Belgravia area where these you’ll be as far away as possible from these kinda people
So they pretty much used a RICO n they took down the whole group n Ade was involved. I guess whoever you surround yourself with could end up biting you back
Did that mixed woman at the beginning really say that the conversation these guys had was just normal black youth culture 🤯🤦🏾♀️.
Always somebody else’s fault innit.
HE DINDU NUFFIN
Problem is, there's a thin line between 'normal black culture' and someone laying on the floor dead...
so what do you feel was a appropriate sentence ?...... because he was guilty of incitement to violence
He probably didn’t have a good lawyer.
Criminal scumbag gets locked up for breaking the law. Seems like the system sometimes works. We need these criminals off our streets.
BS innit
