I have a feeling many will do the same, though all of the folks who run a Wing Rack and nothing else will surely find this limitation pretty much makes the physical headphone outs useless.

I'm trying to decide between a Wing Rack and a used X32 Rack. Should I get one or the other or both? Use case is kinda a bunch of misc. stuff. Studio, Stage, Portable, etc...
I have a mr18 which has served me well during the years. Its been to big festivals, small venues and bars and my home studio. Great piece of gear. But I always ran short on i/o. This new rack could solve some of my issues! 24 ins is more than enough and 8 outs with 4 additional headphone outs can serve big full bands. Great video! Would love to see how you set up the rack for an all round full bands show.
But really only 6 aux outs and the L and R. I think this is inadequate for out. The headphone outs are not seperate from the XLR outs. If they were I'd be extatic.
I'm ridiculously excited for this product! It looks like the stereo 1/4" outs on the rear are also associated with the XLR outs, though. Meaning, it seems you either have the choice of XLR AUX 1 & 2, OR the 1/4" 1/2 stereo out. Is that correct, or are the 1/4" outs their own separate mix from the XLR? God I hope they're separate. Thanks for the walkthrough!!
Yeah, I am understanding that each pair of XLR outs is linked to a stereo headphone out. So 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8. Same signal will go to both, probably all the time (hardware limitation, I saw someone post on another vid). My understanding is you can connect and will get signal from both XLR and 1/4” at the same time, but it will always be the same signals. If you see DCSoundOp’s screen when he discusses them, there’s only 8 destinations on that “local out” screen, and it has those headphone icons under each pair. Bummer!
Thank you for this review. I admit, I'm a gear hog. Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion. I'm always on the lookout for how new gear can enhance my live performances. Again, thank you!
A bit confused on the Dante card slots. Is the slot one you showed inside the cabinet where a Dante Brooklyn card can be installed, instead of replacing the SD card adapter in the external slot?
The X32 Midi In/Out was not regular MIDIs... That was a real bummer that I didnt know when buying it. Does this MIDI in/out actually work to play with external midi instruments? Because that was impossible with X32 :(
I’m just realizing the 8 XLR outs, in pairs with the 4 stereo headphone outs, are all hardware linked. So for example XLR 1/2 is physically linked to Stereo headphone out 1/2 pair…that’s such a bummer, because in every regard the WING rack is a big step forward from X32 rack, except this. With the lack of 1/4” aux outs, that’s 6 fewer outputs. Quite a loss, to me. I guess stageconnect is going to be popular with this.
Do external effect loops use up the mix channels or can they spill into the additional I/O without sacrificing regular ins / outs, given the limitations of the mix bus?
The only thing is, Gear 4 Music don’t have the Wing Rack in stock due to a problem with their distributers…Andertons and Thommon have sent out there second batch but G4M have not sent out one yet as They can’t get them 🤷♂
Thank you for the review! Great product! I’m curious about sound quality. Specifically the d/a conversion. X32 always was underwhelming driving studio monitors when comparing to even entry level interfaces. Didn’t mind the input quality, although certainly not the cleanest… wondering if it can replace a dedicated audio interface. Thanks!
Looking at getting this to take my IEM rack to the next level. I also Currently use my X32 rack for Live mixing. Just wanting more power, Plugins, and channels without having to bring a stage box. Although I might get a SD8 just so I have 16 outs.
Is this overkill, for a dedicated Drum mixer? I use to use the Mackie 1604 VLZ PRO, then the Tascam model 24, then the X32. I like the idea to make totally different kits and save them. Recall them in live shows at press of a button. Your thoughts?
For some folks it could certainly be over the top, but for others this would be a perfect sub-mixer for their kit. It really just depends on what you want to do, but the price, size and weight of this would make it a pretty attractive option in my opinion.
nice vid! As for the cooling fan concern: Has anyone ever experienced the XR18 fail in the rack, but fine if removed from a rack? Or was it just me? I always guessed the xr18 was overheating inside the rack.
This is a great set up but for most small churches I would still suggest the x32 as it is more budget friendly the console versions for churches who have a little more space or older people running sound like people over 50 they are not always able to run complex equipment like tablets but they should work better with physical equipment and the x32 rack version can work well with churches with little space and operators who are more technologically advanced to run the tablets required for the system but the behringer wing rack or console could work great for bars and clubs
Could this be used as a 7.1.4 analog in analog out b chain box for an atmos monitor system? would need an additional 4 analog outs and a way to gang all the outputs.
Awesome intro video. My plan is sometime next year to upgrade from the X32 rack and the M3 2C to the wing rack once I pay off some bills. It’s the kind of board I’ve been wanting for the longest time in Iraq mountable chassis. It seems like I get those bands every once in a whilethat I end up having a patch two things and I end up running out of channel space. I will also be incorporating wave super rack performer with it as well.
@@flashanddancedj Thanks for the message, I think you’ll enjoy this one coming from the x32 rack. I had one for a number of years and really like this in its place. Stay in touch and let me know how it goes when you take the jump.
Behringer has come a long way.... I remember when the music community would get all elitists and dog them out every chance they've gotten. DeepMind dropped my jaw, and now this gorgeous thing. Too bad I traded in my gear for parenthood... That said, if I ever get back into musical toys, this is definitely going to be the console I employ!
You mentioned 48 channels but I only saw 24 actual inputs on the back, where do the other inputs come from? Is this limited to just 12 stereo input devices? Many thanks, great video, it looks a lovely device.
Hey, thanks for the question. So you've got around 374 input possibilities when you add additional stage boxes, use the option slot or add networked audio to your console, that's were you get the extra inputs to populate the 48 processing channels, which can themselves be setup to be mono or stereo or mid-side. Does that make sense?
Can we use it as a stagebox on stage for Monitor independant mix,EQ& Comp + Use Midas M32R via AES for FOH and have independant channel eq/comp for FOH ?
I’m considering purchasing the Behringer Wing Rack as soons as it's possible and I’m curious about its integration with Ableton Live. Specifically, I want to know if it’s possible to load snaps (On the X32 they're called scenes, I believe) using MIDI commands. I thought this was possible with the Behringer X32, so I’m wondering if the same functionality exists for the Wing. This is for my band during live performances, where Ableton Live plays the backing track along with all MIDI controls for our instruments and devices. It would be fantastic if Ableton could load the corresponding in-ear-mix (one snap per mix) for each song automatically. Has anyone had success with this setup? If so, could you share how you achieved it? Any tips or resources would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I'm not really sure what this thing is - you kept referring to it as a mixer - is that what they look like nowadays or is this a recorder as well? It seemed to have effects built in? I'm afraid I'm old school - still using a Crest Century desk with knobs on. Ah - just seen another video on it - it IS a mixer!
i used it recently. and at first i wondered where the mixer is...silly me...after configuring the app everything went smoothly and intuitiv enough. could also record decent multitracks. the venue was a little open-air festival powered by solar batteries and it worked very well
As far as I know the first units shipped were just delivered in the past couple of days. How did you use one recently? Was it also an engineering sample like the one I have?
Thanks for this video! My many concern is if the Wing Rack can be controlled with an XTouch when you need a few faders, just like the X32 has done for many years now. That has been my main reason for going with an X32 rack. So hopefully if it doesn't do that at this initial release it will soon.
Sorry, I answered the wrong question before... as it currently sits, the XTouch cannot control the Wing natively. It may be something they make work in the future, but not in the initial release.
@@DcSoundOp Right I mostly use Dante to get additional I/O but sometimes AES50 stage boxes. But this is about using an X Touch as a control surface for the console. There are times where I have had an XTouch, a Laptop with X32 Edit, an iPad and multiple phones running the personal mixer app all connected to a single X32 simultaneously.
Looks like an A&H Qu-Pac (but I like this better). Let’s hope Behringer does a better job with the firmware, support and updates than A&H did with the Qu.
If I want to upgrade from an audient evo8 for home shenanigans, but leave it in a rolling rack so I can take it to gigs, for a hybrid setup per say, is this overkill?
That's a BIG step-up from the EVO 8, but without knowing how much of the features you'll use, it's hard to say if it's a good fit for you in the future. You'll certainly have a lot of fun with it! Thanks for the message.

Thanks for watching!
Yes, StageConnect or any of the stage-boxes will let you access the other 350+ output paths available.
"My name is Drew Brashler" is stuck in my memory forever
Nice little preview of the mixer. I'd like to know if there's a way to control the individual gains of those headphone amps?
This thing looks amazing? How much will it cost? Mmm would you bet your touring rig on a Behringer piece of gear like this?
In Germany we'd say "Eierlegende Wollmilchsau". A thing that does ist all.
Exactly. "Eierlegende Wollmilchsau"
Do external effect loops use up the mix channels or can they spill into the additional I/O without sacrificing regular ins / outs, given the limitations of the mix bus?
The only thing is, Gear 4 Music don’t have the Wing Rack in stock due to a problem with their distributers…Andertons and Thommon have sent out there second batch but G4M have not sent out one yet as They can’t get them 🤷♂
First timer here. I subscribed. A dm1000 user here. Looking to see if I want to upgrade or if it’s not worth the effort. Thanks.
Will there be a MADI extension card for the Wing?
Is there a way to use both the XLR outputs and the amplified jacks output at the same time, but getting signal from different virtual sources?
It would be amazing to have 8 mono outputs additionaly to the 4 stereo amplified outputs.
Thanks!
This is the big question for me.
I’m going to get me one and use it in my home studio….!
Looking at getting this to take my IEM rack to the next level. I also Currently use my X32 rack for Live mixing. Just wanting more power, Plugins, and channels without having to bring a stage box. Although I might get a SD8 just so I have 16 outs.
They need to call this the Behringer 'Ping' since it looks like a microwave, having said that i do want one! :)
Ultimate in ear rack for bands
Lovely product. Now I'm waiting for a Wing DAW controller ala X-Touch, but with the Wing mixer design! 😉
Does the Wing Rack come with Dante card? Or do I need to purchase separately
Is there any update on an availability date yet?
nice vid! As for the cooling fan concern: Has anyone ever experienced the XR18 fail in the rack, but fine if removed from a rack? Or was it just me? I always guessed the xr18 was overheating inside the rack.
This is SICK!
Can this fully work with Apple Final Cut pro and Logic Pro. Please give me some hints.
Do you know output impedance of headphones outputs ?
Could this be used as a 7.1.4 analog in analog out b chain box for an atmos monitor system? would need an additional 4 analog outs and a way to gang all the outputs.
The first shot looks like it belongs with BlackMagic Designs product line 😂 this thing is going to look epic next to a BMD rig setup
Hi! Wing play mp3 from USB?
Interesting - The Flow 8 is like 50% off ?????? what is cooking????
What is the sample / bit rate? Also, does the USB connection allow other sample rates?
This is magnificient engineering
X32s about to be $400 on ebay all day. What took them so long?
Behringer has come a long way.... I remember when the music community would get all elitists and dog them out every chance they've gotten. DeepMind dropped my jaw, and now this gorgeous thing. Too bad I traded in my gear for parenthood... That said, if I ever get back into musical toys, this is definitely going to be the console I employ!
I want one, to upgrade over the X32 rack but its for a simrig and the experimentations I do with multi-channel tactile immersion.
Are the headphone outputs on the rear fully assignable or do they mirror the XLR outputs?
Dog, I thought this was an air fryer 💀 making my akai interface feel like a dinosaur
How to use Waves Soundgrid with AOIP input ?
Cool mixer. Price?
Check with your local dealer or favorite online retailer.
Where's the new 24/48 stage boxes then? A little mismatched with 16/32 only being available.
@@DcSoundOp thank you for replying. So out the box as a vanilla device it’s 24 physical mono inputs or 12 stereo pairs?
could this mean there's an upgraded version of the behringer xr18 on the way?
I don't know, but if I did, I couldn't say so in the comments here anyway 😂
Is there assignable buttons on console or toucscreen for tap tempo, mutegroups etc?
I hope they make an avb card for this so I can integrate my motu gear
i used it recently. and at first i wondered where the mixer is...silly me...after configuring the app everything went smoothly and intuitiv enough. could also record decent multitracks. the venue was a little open-air festival powered by solar batteries and it worked very well
As far as I know the first units shipped were just delivered in the past couple of days. How did you use one recently? Was it also an engineering sample like the one I have?
@@DcSoundOp good question ^^ well it looked quite similar and was by behringer. edit: it was the x32. i´m sorry for the confusion.
Sorry, I replied to the wrong question before. I edited my original response.
Thank you Lord!
Looks like an A&H Qu-Pac (but I like this better). Let’s hope Behringer does a better job with the firmware, support and updates than A&H did with the Qu.
The second I saw drews face I was like he knows 😂
If I want to upgrade from an audient evo8 for home shenanigans, but leave it in a rolling rack so I can take it to gigs, for a hybrid setup per say, is this overkill?
That's a BIG step-up from the EVO 8, but without knowing how much of the features you'll use, it's hard to say if it's a good fit for you in the future. You'll certainly have a lot of fun with it! Thanks for the message.
when is the SoundGrid card coming out
@@CaptRadar101If I hear anything, I’ll let you know, but that kind of stuff is above my (nonexistent) pay grade 🤣
What resolution is it 24/48?
Come on Allen and Heath. We need an SQ rack. This one looks great.
