Thank you so much I have a Yard-Man yard bug the drive belt went on it and I could not figure out what belt to purchase for the last 4 months very informational you helped me find all of the numbers I needed and you gave me a bonus with the diagram you found thank you thank you
Nice video Jake, i've never seen one of these until today. It's also nice of you to save your customer money by reusing parts from a junk mower. Most don't mind one bit as long as it cuts and didn't cost them an arm and leg. 👍🏼
Yea I didn't have these parts in stock (new) but did have the used pulley kicking around. Those belts seem to be exclusive to this machine so I had to order them, got a new pulley on order too and he paid 50% off for the used one.
I clean the important stickers and a few inches around them and use box tape to "laminate" them. I'll even use a fine tip Sharpie to add numbers for whatever and or darken faded numbers before the tape. Makes ordering parts so much easier.
We always record the information for model number of both the engine and unit so we can always get parts diagrams when needed. We add that information to the invoice.
Have heard them also called Turtles nice little unit to come in for repairl, easy fix and turned out to be a nice little video on something a lot of viewers may never see in real life.
Yardman beetle/yardbug reminds me of my murray 10.5hp 30 inch deck that has the engine also underneath the seat , but a very cool mower for sure thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Thanks for the rundown on a neat machine. Package deal popped up yesterday of this , a press washer and toro blower for a steal of a price. I’ve done snowthrowers and p washers but this was the first”tractor”. This vid helped seal the deal, and got the package for even less. Sell one machine and the rest will be profit. Two questions, how does one figure out the year of manufacture and where is best spot to order parts and service manual?🇨🇦
Here's the MTD site for manuals, enter your information. You'll need model and possibly serial number: www.mtdparts.ca/en/operatorsmanuals Year of manufacture is usually the 5th number on an MTD serial number, so a 7 could be a 1997, 2007, 2017 etc... Check the safety standards code, says adheres to 1996 so it's a late 90s unit forsure. Parts can be ordered through any MTD parts dealer, a local small engine repair shop will be able to get them for you. Other than that, Amazon or eBay for aftermarket stuff.
I was wondering if you still have the yard bug and if so can you post a picture of the spring on the governor arm not sure where it hooks thanks in advance
hey thank you for the video, i ve a near similar lil tractor, a castelgarden something 6hp tecumseh i bought 30 euros only , now it is usefull for me to see how to dismantle the machine and work on it
I think it is because this is a mtd machine, it had different name: for mtd: yadrbug, for yardman: beetle, and i think white also had a version of this
I finally got my hands on a single blade rear engine mower. It's a Lowe's branded Tecumseh engine and Tecumseh transmission not with a 17.5 Briggs overhead valve engine. The mouse urine dissolved enough aluminum between the coil and head to put three holes going into the cylinder. Gonna look great with the new black paint with a red engine.
Thats a cute little home owners rider Jake. I was wondering does it have a safety switch if you got off the mower and left the blades engaged with the foot pedal? Very compact little unit! 👍🎥🇺🇸🇨🇦Roger
I believe it's a standard U1 battery, any battery shop will know what to get. Probably wouldn't need much more than 285CA, but I always buy 370CA (350CCA)
Parts are on order, but they won't be in for a week or more. Customer needed to cut, I called and offered new and wait, or used and now. He chose used and now. When the belt brakes or the used pulley fails, he'll get new parts then. I always give my customers the choice, and he needed to get his lawn cut!
@@EliminatorPerformance Good job since you offer one to two day service this repair fits right in there. Additionally, you have secured another service with another satisfied customer.
So cute! Don’t you just want to take it home and snuggle on the couch with it or teach it to fetch? 😂 Jake, did you happen to get a compression reading or look at the plug and check the gap? I’m starting to do these and other metrics on every machine now and logging them in for future reference. Also, and this is a much more important question for me right now, how are you keeping track of inventory parts and consumables???
If they run well enough I don't usually check compression unless they don't start and I'm diagnosing. As for spark plug, it got a new one and I always gap them to manufacturer spec
An annual inventory of parts and consumables is done every year for April 1st. by manual counting. This information is provided to the accountant for reporting to the CRA and is logged into the minutes of the annual meeting .
Wayne Stefinashen Thanks, but what I meant was how do you know what you have on hand at any given moment? Say if you need a part, how do you tell if you have it or need to order? Do you use a spreadsheet or other method for keeping track of inventory or do you just go look at where that part might be? As I acquire more parts I’d like to have some sort of system of storage and tracking so I know where things are and what I have on a day to day basis.
@@Rein_Ciarfella As an example air filters are stored in cardboard boxes with part numbers on the outside of the box, mower blades are in a multi tray rolling cabinet with part numbers of blades identified on each tray, v belts are in designated areas stored by size then by length and each one has that information plus the part number on it. Hope this helps out.
Late 1900s to early 2000s and so many different models bugs, beetles, lady birds also in red neat little rider but as one commented leaves tire tracks on lawn
Yes they most definitely do. MTD also recalled the Utility Vehicle for flipping/tipping hazard due to the narrow wheelbase, tight turning radius and high center of gravity. The operator sits a bit lower on this one, but not by much.
I'm surprised that this tracker has such a small engine. This tracker is only 8.5 horsepower. My snow blower is an 8 horsepower. 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🥴
You should see the Craftsman Utility Vehicle videos, that riding mower (tracker as you say) has a 6.25hp engine lol it's all about gearing I guess. They both don't go very fast
@@EliminatorPerformance Wow, that sounds crazy. Tractor with a 6 horsepower engine????? The 8 horsepower engine that my snow blower has is a Tecumseh engine model hmsk80. The same exact engine model that you did the valve job on that John Deer snow blower last year. That video of the valve job that you did was the first time I had ever seen any of your videos. I was so impressed that I became a subscriber instantly and I don't get impressed easily. Keep up the good work. 😊😊😊😊👍🏿

I just bought one last month. Identical to the one featured. Awesome unit. Thanks for the video. Better than the manual.
How fast does yours go? Mine crawls lol
Good video bud.. we have them over here hope you and the old man are well
Thanks Mick!

Good idea using the box tape
I was given a yard bug was told do not invest any money in this machine great you had a easy repair job there young man be safe .out there young man
Yea this one is in great condition, no rust. He said he does have the bagging unit but prefers to side discharge.
@@EliminatorPerformance thanks for your reply on this matter of this machine young man 😎👍

Pretty cool little rig.
They don't go very fast, but they're great for small yards.
The Yard Bug or "Yard Beetle" reminds me of the very old small riding mowers they made in the '50s and '60s.

I love the full sized car battery upgrade
It's not a hydrostatic drive. It's a variable pulley drive (variator). These are great little mowers but they run hot. Use good oil.
That mower lets them know to stay in their lane. And to stay on one side of the fence...... you can get through more gates. 😎
I have one of those and am looking for the bagger assembly.

Nice video, I need advice. I over torqued headbolts by 1.7 foot pounds. I don't believe this would make a difference. What do you all believe?
No, as long as the sequence was followed, I doubt it would make a difference.
@@EliminatorPerformance thank you.
Hi....Do you know where to get a Filter and Plastic cover replacement.... I just got one and it's missing Filter&cover
Those will be Briggs and Stratton parts, search the model number off the engine and type it into Google with "parts diagram" after
Where can I get the side chute? I have on of these but only have the internal bagger chute
Google the model number and type parts diagram after, it should come up on the part listing
I did the manufacturers discontinued making them. Hoping someone knows elsewhere to get one

It does have a seat switch, but it looks like the customer has decided to bypass it. Or he got the machine already like that.
What size battery for this. I gave one and trying to get a battery for it

Just a question, could i superglue a flywheel with a bromen fin?
Broken*
Metal or plastic?
@@tihspidtherekciltilc5469 metal
@@mitchroggel Maybe epoxy or JB-Weld but balancing is very important. Better to try than not but I would be looking for a replacement. Good luck.
I wouldn't recommend it, considering a flywheel spins quite fast and will create centrifugal force.
I got the cub cadet for daughter same thing i see
