As well as the break ups Mick Fleetwood was also having an affair with Stevie Nicks, and not forgetting they were all taking unfeasibly massive quantities of cocaine daily...it's hard to try and imagine how all that combined and just how intense and toxic the atmosphere must have been during those recording sessions

I'm old but in 1976 I bumped into Stevie Nick's. I was on business in Boulder CO. I entered the hotel and the elevator opened with Stevie Nick's dressed in Black n gold chains. The bass guitar instrumental in that was used as the theme tune for Sky TV F1 program for many years, so many fans of F1 know the music. This was the era of great guitarists playing the best guitars of all time. What I like to think of as real music. Fleetwood Mac were one of many bands that were just so much better than anything out today. Stevie Nicks was, well, just magical. She also worked at the same time with The Eagles I think. This was my youth.

Great reaction to this old classic Mo, as others say the whole album Rumours (1977) from which this comes is considered one of the very best.
That’s John MacVies ( it’s his name that gives the Mac of their name, Mick Fleetwood the drummer being the other) bass guitar you’re wondering about.
Try their song ‘Albatross’ - you’ve never heard a song so smooth and beautiful as it! It’s like nothing else.

'Rumors' and the bands previous self titled 'Fleetwood Mac' album are 2 of the 1970's best selling albums. Both were produced by the bands guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and considered the high water mark for the band. You can virtually pluck any song from one these two albums and it's a masterpiece. Wonderful reaction Mo. You look sensational, if I do say so myself.😍 Take care Hun, RNB

Bass guitar was the instrument you were asking about. Fleetwood Mac is kind of "an acquired taste". Their music spanned a variety of genres, so you tend to enjoy some, depending on your tastes in genre. Also, you might have loved one song but not the others on the same album. I happen to like this one, unwinding at the end of the day..... but they have their moments. Stevie Nicks went on her own and cranked out many top hits in soft rock, pop and folk genres. Five extremely musically talented people made this album while in the midst of the pitfalls of fame, epic drug consumption, and various love triangles and relationship problems. The result of that mixture was one of the greatest selling albums of all time, and some of the best music I've ever heard. The vibe created by this band is like my spirit animal. Their live performances in (I believe) 1997 for the show they called, "The Dance" are absolutely amazing.

One of the amazing things about this album - there are 11 songs on this album, Lindsay Buckingham has lead vocals on 4 tracks (including this song), Stevie Nicks had lead on 3 tracks and Christine McVie had lead on 4 tracks. And on each of those songs they are credited with being the writer of the song as well (although this track is credited to all of the members).
Truly a "super group". Glad you enjoyed it.

Terrific reaction and you are working so hard on the presentation too - it works. As others have said, Stevie and Lindsey were breaking up and she took herself off on her own to write the first part of the song, hence "if you don't love me now, you will never love me again". I'm guessing that's a polite way of saying that if you don't show your love, that's it. But she didn't have enough of a song to make it a whole track. Elsewhere John McVie (with his own troubles) had the final riff so they combined the two aspects and came up with a classic :)

That entire album, one if the all time classics in the history of pop music incidentally, is about the various band members breaking up with each other and having lovers arguments etc. Oh and that track, the instrumental part at the end has become synonymous with F1 racing at least in the UK where it has long been used as the theme tune for TV and radio coverage. I like to play it when driving my car with the roof down.
Your patented shoulder sweep has become a classic too. I always enjoy those. Nice blouse too at least as much as we got to see of it.

So many more songs for you to enjoy on this album. As simple as the lyrics may be, there meanings and lessons tend tend to be lost on so many. Peace/JT

Oh wow, it’s a relief I’m not alone with regards to getting the lyrics meanings and lessons🙈.

@@MorenikejiTaiwo I feel as though I have offended you, I'm sorry if that is the case.
Often we find ourselves bound to our previous decisions. The decisions we make today may bind us tomorrow. These binds can and will often overlap. It can take great strength to honor these promises we may make. Whether we find such tough times at home, work, in a band or everyday relationships. We all need to be able to depend on others, locally, nationally and even across the world. We all live on the same rock hurtling through space and whether we like it or not and we are bound together. That said, we also need to keep our individual selves safe and healthy and be able to break free and stay free from those that don't have our best interests at heart. Preferably in a civil and mature manner, I don't ever want to become the monster I might have to face. Peace/JT

It's actually pretty amazing that they managed to record this album and then release it. The reason for this is there was so much drama within the band such as basicially they were cheating on eachother with eachother and then add lots of unhealthy dozens of cocaine...

I am a huge fan of Fleeteood Mac and at one time had 14 of their albums including the traditional blues years. My favorite albums are Kiln House and Bare Trees very different albums. And because they are very versatile they have a huge range from blues, country, pop, and rock. I grew up in the 60s and 70s and I was blessed when it comes to the quality of music of my Era.
If you haven't heard Aretha Franklin's song R-E-S-P-E-C-T I suggest you check it out.

@@MorenikejiTaiwo if you listen to Fleetwood Mac inception they were pure blues but by the end they were doing pop rock. And it is only because of their wide range that I could have so many albums. Give a listen to Bare Trees and you will see what I mean. Completely different from Rumours (my least favorite album because over played). If you haven't heard Arethra you will really enjoy her and Dionne Warwick Say a Little Prayer for You

My beautiful baby girl Mo. Truly beautiful to me.
I thought that now that you've listened to this, you would appreciate seeing it done live, so you can see the instruments and them playing by yourself, when you can find the time.
It was a great concert, when they were older but what a performance. Here's the link to their official video.

Great track to react to. The next natural step is to listen to Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks performing live with Tom Petty. Magical. Cheers.
