Really great to see what’s actually in these things! I definitely agree that if you run a module or parts of it over and over, or it’s just one you’re ready to invest a lot of time in, these seem like a worthy purchase. Makes me fear for their success in the virtual D&D world though :/
Speaking as someone who has purchased the digital version of CoS, this still appeals to me. Record players didn't replace live-music, television didn't put an end to theater, and last I checked, videogames haven't killed boardgaming. As long as society is made up of at least some extroverts, people will continue to gather in person to share experiences.
This was my first Beadle & Grimms box set and I'm so glad I went for this one. Haven't even gone through it properly yet as I'm in the process of moving but I can't wait to unbox it like this!
I absolutely adore Curse of Strahd, and similarly I ran it A LOT (Slight modifications each time). If I could afford it (And I had people to play in person with) I'd totally pick this up
I ended up getting this set, thanks for the unboxing. I6 Revenloft was long one of my favorite modules. I also run it often for Halloween. I in fact hand made my own entire maps of Castle Ravenloft in the early zeros and converted it to 3E. Mine were not as beautiful and have worn over time. I added a night hag backstory to how Strahd was lured to Vampirdom. I would supplement with eerie organ music.
Very cool, thanks for going through this in detail. This is by far my favourite campaign, ours lasted a good year or so and I'm not afraid to say I had a few tears when it was all over...
I received mine yesterday. Super stoked since we have just started the campaign. My finger puppets came doubled up on some, but missing others though. I have 2 Strahds, and 2 Pidlewicks. Missing the bride and werewolf. I’m reaching out to see if they can send the ones I’m missing. The rest of the box and maps were perfect.
Thanks SO much for unboxing this! CoS is also my favorite to run and while I make a lot of my own props, being able to see everything that comes in it definitely sold me!
I have been thinking about getting this lately so it's nice to see an unboxing of what is actually inside. Small typo though - the name is Blinsky, not Blinksy. 13:02 That's what my cat looks like! She would definitely go for that necklace since she's quite a crazy girl. And the finger puppets.
Amazing. I recently started getting into D&D not too long ago and i was so interested in getting the Ghosts of Saltmarsh Silver edition from Beetle & Grimm's only to find out they're no longer making the edition and you can't get it anywhere else. JUMP on these editions.
So 3 months I purchased the Curse of Strahd campaign set that I will be running next year when we wrap up our current campaign. I came across Beadle & Grimm's website hunting for Castle Ravenloft maps that DO NOT have the key on them so I can use for the players. At first I was appalled at how much this legendary box costs. After watching this video I totally understand. I get it. Now, to let the wife know what I want for Christmas. We'll see that that goes over. fingers crossed.
Ravenloft is super fun and mysterious, Darksun is super hard, Dragonlance was my absolute favourite (Huma and Raistlin anyone?) but the coolest and most advanced setting (and mechanics) I've ever played in is Harnmaster (the closest to LOTR and most realistic). My least favourite, and in my opinion, generic world is Forgotten Realms but Waterdeep is cool (Cyric anyone?)
Ha ha - CoS is your favorite adventure and before that was I6 Ravenloft? Am I watching a video of me - because that sounds just like me. I first played Ravenloft in 85' and was a thief, didn't last too long - so had to reroll. I am now DMing CoS this year - the first time DMing the module. I am streaming our game on UA-cam and having a great time. Thanks for the unboxing! I am envious. Cheers.
I would love this. My only problem is the fact that I have never met a player that would respect the "props" well enough to make them last. Also looks like a few things I would personally change about how B&G did it, but to each their own.
Tell the players that if they want an epic adventure everyone has to pay their share. My players are more than willing to contribute whenever I want something that I feel is necessary.
Love the stuff I see! I saw the 378 euro price on their website and wanted to buy it but it appears they showed the price without shipment (75 euros) and taxes (95 euros) so in total it would cost me 550 euros....
The biggest maps are actually six poster maps put together for a total of about 6’ x6’ which is pretty impractical. Most of them are about 3’ x 4’ so a large 36” x 48” sheet would do it. That’s what I have.
I have heavily modified the orginal module and unfortunately, not very many of these items would be useful. I would love to buy the roll of poster maps and the Tarroka deck separately
It's a shame that they don't seem to be interested in helping people get their content in other countries or even during the pandemic. They really should release the maps for VTTs. I'd gladly purchase some high quality content for my campaign.
Sly, I highly recommend upgrading from the snowball to the Yeti. You will notice an insane difference in audio quality when you do. Otherwise, this looks really cool! Do you have any videos or advice on running CoS? I've always wanted to play that campaign because I love gothic horror.
Hello, Great Video! Could you tell me how big in inches (or cm) is one grid square on the map? Our minis are exactly 2.4cm or 24mm which is roughly 0.95 inches. Would they fit nicely into the the battlemaps in this package or not?
There's part of me that would absolutely love to buy this... I'm a huge, Ravenloft fan in general... I'm sort of sad it's no longer a campaign setting, but man this is beautiful... Then I realize I don't play 5E, don't play in person since my group lives in different states, and even when I played in person, I hated battle maps. Also, the tarroka deck that White Wolf put out durning 3.5 is the best version of the accessory released... Sadly, it's really hard to come by now.
It does not. Aside from Castle Ravenloft (which is a ton of maps) it has the coffin makers shop, the Bonegrinder, the church, the Wizard of Wines, and the cellar of Death house.
I mean its not bad but you get a stomp for wax on etsy for 5 bucks... Paper you can print Age with coffee or tea Print wine labels on stick paper Maps I dont like to use I think I am fine and save the money to make my own leather book
Love the video, dislike the product. Why can’t the monster cards cover the full half that the players see? Why aren’t the maps laminated? Why are there only 3 coins when a party usually comprises of 4 (admittedly I could be missing something narratively here). All in all very expensive for what it is and I have issues with the level of detail your money doesn’t seem to get you here. I’ll settle for the book I think.

What's the best way to simulate fog of war with your system?

I am not able to afford something this grand, but it would be nice to be able to purchase the map pack. Kudos to those of you able to get this.
Wow amazing. I wish there were some custom minis included though.
Beadle and Grimm's Legendary CoS unboxing takeaway: Always cut towards the neck!
"Always cut towards the neck" haha had me busting up. Great stuff as always!

You seem like a real fun DM to play with :D!. I can feel the love you have for the curse of strahd adventure!
The thunk and vibration every time you put the box down 😂

So happy to have gotten this box. The maps are so amazing!

Always cut towards the neck - a slight nick makes it easier for Strand!
They should rename it to "Curse of Strahd: Disposable Income Edition"

thanks for doing this. it's great to see all the crazy stuff you get. the props are great but the encounter cards are the best idea.
Thanks SO much for unboxing this! CoS is also my favorite to run and while I make a lot of my own props, being able to see everything that comes in it definitely sold me!

I love thumbnails that hype up the Christmas spirit!
Damn this one is amazing. Hadn't seen this yet. Immediately ordered it. Thanks for the heads-up
So jealous mine is currently on the way! So excited to use this in my current cos game

of all the campaigns, strahd is worth it to get this.

this is epic! I'm just starting to get into D&D
Welcome to the hobby!

I just ordered this set last Friday. super excited!!!
Ahhhhhhh So stoked to find Sly Flourish on UA-cam. AAAAAHhhhhhhh so stoked to drop the looooot on buying this.
i alwais make handmade props for oneshots mainly. its one thing when you are told you have a bloody towel but way different if the dm throws you one!
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing the gift!

Wow. Very impressive. Thanks for the review.
I wish I had this when I ran CoS. 400 split between 6 people would be very doable.
LOL Hell would freeze over before any players I know would shell out cash for a game they were players in. You're a lucky guy.
Can’t believe just found your channel awesome stuff brother

so years after we have played these adventures, and moved on...NOW they give us more stuff.....

Good review! What is the size of the biggest map? I was wondering what size of acrylic sheet to buy?

Anyone watching in April 2021. B&G is taking preorders for a 2nd publishing of Curse of Strahd. Go to their website and check it out.
Thanks for the tip!
I have heavily modified the orginal module and unfortunately, not very many of these items would be useful. I would love to buy the roll of poster maps and the Tarroka deck separately
Beatles and Grim screen artwork looks awfully inspired by Shard Of Spring on c64 lol
WOW! Thank you!
Ah! I got the Manganiello's reference :D
could you perhaps do a review of the wild beyond the witchlight platinum edition?
That acrylic sheet for your table, can you use dry erase, or projector markers on it or will it stain?
I use dry-erase markers and it works great.
@@SlyFlourish Thank you. Its a good idea.
Great video! Question, are all of the battle maps proportioned for regular-sized minis? Like is the 5ft cube the right size for a standard mini?
They are!
How many organs do I have to sell though? 🤔
$400 worth
@@Kittykattarina Wow, that's actually pretty good for everything you get!
Kidney goes for 200 so 2, liver goes for 125.99 so 3,.lungs are 25,99 so a lot..about 40 gallons of plasma
It's a shame that they don't seem to be interested in helping people get their content in other countries or even during the pandemic. They really should release the maps for VTTs. I'd gladly purchase some high quality content for my campaign.
There are some wonderful VTT maps for Ravenloft on the DM's Guild. I highly recommend them. See my other Ravenloft videos.

I use the Snowball for my upstairs rig. I have the Yeti for my downstairs rig. Next time I'll bring it up.
Strahd: "Cut towards the Neck"...
Hello,

They’re one inch squares.
@@SlyFlourish 1inch x 1inch, correct?
@@aresaisuga5534 Yep!
Purchased this 8 months ago and was take impressed

Those coins would be good to represent Inspiration.
They would if there were more of them. There's only three in the box.
The only thing missing os strahds big as throne xD
Do you have a summary of the bonus encounters? I know one is for finding the third gem.
Unfortunately I do not. Sorry!
Still waiting for my b&g plat icewind Dale :( put me off ordering this... does look awesome though
I want to buy this in the UK, can't ge it here!! Does anyone know if it sells in the UK?
What is the cool map you have under the plastic, not apart of the Strahd box
The map of Avernus from Descent into Avernus.
Does it also have the amber temple 5ft maps?
It does not. Aside from Castle Ravenloft (which is a ton of maps) it has the coffin makers shop, the Bonegrinder, the church, the Wizard of Wines, and the cellar of Death house.
I want the poster map so bad, anyone know where i can get them?
What size is your acrylic sheet?
36" by 48"
@@SlyFlourish thank you
Very cool, it's $400 if you want to know.
I LOVE this video and i will try to buy this LE, BUT... This surname reads correctly as "Blinskiy", I'm Russian, I know what I'm talking about.
It would be great to see products of this kind for Call of Cthulhu !!!
Wish it was black paper 😭
I just walked past this in my FLGS and it's $120!? But I just want the screen!
That’s actually a different box completely. That’s the WOTC collectors edition.
400$ And I am still debating....
Let's hope 2021 we get a full Ravenloft campaign setting.
I mean its not bad but you get a stomp for wax on etsy for 5 bucks...
Paper you can print
Age with coffee or tea
Print wine labels on stick paper
Maps I dont like to use
I think I am fine and save the money to make my own leather book
