Hundreds, maybe thousands, young men are wait in line ...for hours ...and, end of day, not even one cabbage showing for it! But, my heart is yet warm to see young men so excited (2:21-2:56) for ANYthing!
Part of the problem is a general incompetence of the officials...they are there mainly to help control wrestlers who become violent and to perform judging duties....they all lack clerical skills....many names on their lists are mis-spelled ....due to the incredibly complex alphabet of the Russian language. Which in itself ranges differently from area to area....and to the mistakes made by the people who prepare the lists. The athletes are aware of this...and...as you can see they often have to point out their name on the list to the officials. This reflects a general problem with Russian society in that few people obtain a college education and many do not complete high school...and...this is a preferred situation by the autocratic government...because an un-educated population is easier to control....Also...many of the officials have little respect for the athletes...since most of the athletes are from poor families and some have been put in the program by the courts in order to prevent them from a life of crime.
According to the State Statistical Office of Russia, one third of Russians who are officially employed have higher education: 34.2% (2019). Could you tell me where you got the information that "a general problem with Russian society in that few people obtain a college education and many do not complete high school"?
Your information or conclusions about the level of education in the country made on the basis of this video are incorrect. Here we see former athletes who have become coaches or functionaries of the lowest level, who, as one can know, do not differ in special literacy and intelligence throughout the world.
Where did you get the bullshit from?! "Many of the officials have little respect for the athletes...since most of the athletes are from poor families and some have been put in the program by the courts in order to prevent them from a life of crime"... Why are you inventing and writing these nonsense?
You don't have to answer. I have read the main thing you are trying to tell us - "this is a preferred situation by the autocratic government... because an un-educated population is easier to control". All is clear. Is this antirussian propaganda from Washington or from London? :))

Only 5% of the population in Russia now do not have a complete secondary education. 57% of Russians have secondary and higher professional education
