Iceland has been calling us for years and finally we set out to explore. It totally lived up to the hype. Wild, barren, windswept and moody. A different kind of beauty than any other place we toured before. We hope you will enjoy this new series! Let us know what you think about it? Thanks & Have a great day, E&M
I just found your channel, and your vid of Iceland is super ! It certainly is a wild place, many places like the western Scottish islands are also windy, and don't have trees! You asked for views on different kinds of upbringing, as a contrast to those you travel to. I was a kid in 1950's London, everything you wanted nearby, hop on a bus, or walk to school, lots of people everywhere. Rare trips to the countryside were a big surprise, quite a different way of life. Hope that is useful! Now I must look at your other videos, one thing, how do you manage to carry all your camping things on 2 bikes? Amazing !
I was leaving Iceland just the moment when you were assembling your bikes at the Keflavik bike station. It was the end of my 27 day solo bicycle trip in Iceland. Holy guacamoly - THE WIND. I just couldn't make the whole ring road because of it. How did you manage to ride with a smile in all this wind and rain all the time?
I look forward to all your content. There are many who do the same, but none do it better. I remember a stopover at the same airport as a teenager, and it took me back.
Thank you for the amazing video! Not only beautiful footage, but also packed with tips like the camping card one! Really appreciate it and looking forward for the rest of your adventure 🙌
Thank you for the videos. Me and my husband have been following you for a while. We love the way how you travel and how positive, respectful and suportive you are of each other. We just recently finished our cycling trip of zigzaging the world. I think that at one point we were quite close to each other. During covid restrictions we "escaped" from Thailand to Langkawi Island in Malaysia and stayed there through the lockdown. We're back home now enjoying spending time with our family and dreaming about cycling to places that we missed the first time around. Stay safe and happy exploring 🚵♀️🚵♂️
Again the beauty of your work and journey inspires me to keep on, to keep sharing love and life after a very difficult week. You two are a part of my life now, a vital part that gives me much-needed hope in these dark days.
What an adventure! Fantastic scenery, and your video and narrative truly captured the mood. Looking forward to more videos from Iceland! Happy birthday, Maudi. Alles Guete! Regards, Martin
Nice tip with the electricity cable! I've seen so many cycling videos about Iceland I almost don't need to go anymore! (Not!) Still none of those gave a good clear explanation about the campaign situation in the country like you did. Once again I find practical info for travellers in your vids, beside the thoughts and reflection about people, nature and life I always appreciate! Thanx for sharing your adventures and happy b'day Maudie!
Wow...Good luck fellows...I went in iceland 2 months ago and was raining non stop,I recomand you to visit Gulfus and also Vik...are amazing places...I have been travelling around the world with work...but iceland win my heart.
Guys this looks really hard, even compared with Scotland. I like trees and forest for my camping. This really looks like one of the hardest places for cycle touring. so much time in the open, sunburn & wind. Good on you both. Keep riding and living free
Enjoy your 33rd year Maudi. I went to Iceland a few years ago with my daughter and we loved it. Can I ask a question about your bike, what saddle do you use? Thanks
hppy belated birthday dear im 19 and plan on doing something similar for my future hope ill find a likeminded husband or be able 2 change him to try a trek like this with me
Happy Birthday to Maudi and her mother, and yes You inspire me. thank y'all for such a wonderful channel, it really takes me away and makes me feel like I'm on an adventure too. Thank you.
Your filmmaking keeps getting better from episode to episode. Seriously! The intro to this one was epic. And I love your music choices. Really sets the mood. Looking forward to the rest of this series. You guys are just so inspiring. And happy belated birthday to Maudi (& Maudi's mum!). What an amazing way to spend your birthday. Stay safe!
I have been binging on your world tour and loving every minute, you guys are amazing👍Another fantastic video, playing safe will keep you alive so you made the right choice after the caravan scare! Belated Happy Birthday to Maudi and her mother, stay safe and keep up the great work guys👌
I'm so stoked for you guys to be hitting Iceland; I've seen some vids from Bikepackers doing ridiculous trips that weren't quite what I was looking for, so it's great to see there are reasonable bicycle touring options in that beautiful country!
Sunday mornings are better when you post a video! Having a coffee and enjoying watching your adventures and this one in particular is spectacular, Iceland is definitely on my list. Cheers!
While on a short tour this summer here in the states I met a couple on a recumbent tandem who had toured Iceland. Hearing stories was nice but seeing it through your eyes really opens up how wonderful it is. Thank you and Happy Birthday to Maudi and her mother ✌
It's a very interesting place for biking, but I'm afraid it will not find a place in my bucket list. I enjoy having more people and civilization around me. Thanks for sharing your video.
Great to see you in your Iceland adventure! The waterfalls, geysers, cliffs and countryside are so spectacular. I also enjoy hearing of your search for good coffee. Looking forward to seeing more of your travels around the country. Travel safe.
I think it's very interesting that the place where you live/or grow up. So much become the norm. Im fascinated by other things in my travels that are not so normal to me. Where locals call normal. Love the ability to see and experience all different landscapes and culture, especially by bike !! Happy birthday maudi !!!! Sending love to you both!!
Wow, this is an absolutely awesome trip you're going. Enjoy and please stay healthy. We are always waiting of new content from you. Thanks for this wunderful impressions of Iceland. We like the bike pit at the airport, really smart. Kindly regards from Palestine 🇵🇸 Carmen and Phillipp
Thank you for sharing your adventure with all of us! Just amazing in Iceland. So beautiful. Happy belated Birthday to you and your Mom. Be careful please and enjoy the ride.🚴♂️
This will be another great series. Loved Iceland. Our first son was born on the base right by the airport. Sometimes when we were there it would seem like we would be transported back in time to an older culture. Loved it. Thanks again and take care, Al
Thank you Al! It certainly has this "old way of doing things vibe" from time to time. Great to hear your personal experiences from there. It must be a special chapter in your lives! Like always the best wishes, E&M

Iceland is such a beautiful country! We were there in 2020 and I though it was challenging by car, let alone by bike. 🙃 I loved the solitude and the empty landscapes there, it was so diverse. And the wheater… taking layers on and off every 15 minutes, sun, wind, rain, all mixed together. I hope you saw puffins when you were there, they are so cute!
Keep up the good work! :)
Hi there and happy belate birthday to Maudi and her mother! So happy that you finally made it to my tiny island in the north. The section of the ring road (route 1) which you were cycling on is a part I would always skip due to traffic. Would take the bus or even a plane to skip the sections between Reykjavík and Akureyri in the north. One route option for you would have been to take the bus to Borgarnes and then head into Snæfellsnes instead of continuing on the ring road. Less traffic on that route. Some cyclists have however stayed on the route and ridden in the midnight sun to avoid the traffic. That could be one solution. My experience in being icelandic is something I am very thankful for. And especially how my father taught me how to travel in both wintertime and summertime in Iceland. Because of him I have travelled all over the island in different seasons and learned how to be prepared for the conditions. And when and how to seek shelter when our nature says so. You probably noticed heavily modified vehicles on very large tires. Thats the way I travelled with my father in winter and summer in the highlands. But now I choose to ride my bike as well and enjoy the slower means of travel. Having geysers, volcanoes, geothermal swimming pools open year round, glaciers to traverse and wide open expanse is all somewhat normal to me. Whenever I go abroad and especially to a big city I feel somewhat crowded and a bit anxious the first days. I need more space to move around than just between buildings so to speak. It also feels weird to me when I dont have almost 24 hourr sunlight in the summer. Spent two weeks in the US one summer and it started to get dark around 7pm which was something I am not accustomed to. I want my midnight sun! My only bummer about your trip here is that I would have hoped to meet you guys. Hopefully our paths will cross sometime in the future. PS Great choice on the Westfjord route. Am heading back there this summer.
also one more thing. Most organized campsites in Iceland have power sockets in either a communal hall or in the bathrooms. And most will be available to hikers and cyclists passing through. So if you can make do with that then there isn't as much need for the additional power and extra price of the electricity or the added weight of the cable. I routinely charge my battery pack in the communal hall or in the bathrooms where I can. Those external power sockets are more meant for the caravans and are sometimes unreliable.
Thank you for your comprehensive explanations! Great tips and wonderful to hear an Icelandic perspective on how someone acquires a sense of place. We had such a special time in Iceland. We can't wait to explore other parts of your fantastically beautiful country. Perhaps will meet you when the time comes. For now wishing you all the best, E&M
These guys are really inspiring! For me, at least. Thanks to them (also) I've done my first long solitary trip this year from Italy to Turkey. I'm so thankful to you, guys!
Love to go there but I'm trying to avoid flying now so unless I happen to sail there when I get my boat it's not going to happen. I don't drive which is great for the environment but one flight is like years of driving, can't do it anymore, not just for fun anyway.
