When half the band doesn’t play an instrument. Dancers kind of detract from the marching band. Sound was amazing though.
Well actually The Japanese high school band is coming to San Antonio for a band thing. And Ronald Reagan high school is helping them out by people from the school host them... to have a good American experience.
Hmmmm? There is no news of that on the KT SHS Bulletin, however they have mentioned going to Hawai'i again as they do every 3 yrs or Okinawa
I think a different band... Narashino HS or Nishihara HS will be perfect for Texas... They have Latin flavor in their music and show.

Wiljam van den Bulk that literally makes no sense. I expected more from Europeans. I wasn’t judging the Japanese group, perhaps you should be more open to American groups. No comment at all can go a long way as well.
I live in San Antonio and I have watched this band live, in addition to other area HS bands. American bands are boring, they do not entertain but express the views of their band directors. Personally, as someone who first discover Kyoto Tachibana SHS in the late 1980s, they are the most entertaining band I have ever watched. Additionally, Japanese HS bands are actually clubs, they do not receive grades for their efforts, strictly volunteer.
And you also got to remember that the US and Japan are different cultures. Yes I know the US doesn't have some best quality bands but it all depends on which state teaches it very well to students in High Schools or Colleges. Japanese Bands due tend to copy us because of are marching style by enhancing the movement to their liking and thats why I love DCI in Japan rather than US DCI. Both US and Japanese marching bands are good in their own rights but it all comes down to preference on what you like in marching bands and I like both US and Japanese.

Reagan HS was selected for the 2018 Rose Bowl Parade, but they have the band fest before the game, which is usually on Jan 1 or Jan 2.
Sometimes the mistakes of the dancers interfere with the performance.
Because it is difficult to perform while maintaining a narrow distance with the dancers.
But it went well as if nothing had happened.
so theatrical... feels like watching war movies
