The original director of Jaws 2 was John Hancock, who also helmed Let’s Scare Jessica to Death. He was fired early in the shoot and Jeannot Swzarc, who directed episodes of Night Gallery, was brought in
I think one scene in the film was directed by Hancock that was kept. There’s a Jaws 2 comic adaptation that’s supposedly closer to the movie he was going to make.
Did it need a sequel? No, but they did their best and gave us a fun sequel. To quote PunkSamurai1985, "Jaws versus Helicopter". Then, the shark moved on to fight a zombie in Zombi 2.
That is a good point. Also adore the shark fight in Zombi 2. Thanks for giving me a fantastic episode topic. Now I really want to do a recommendation video for Zombi 2.
You have the best Homer beanies! I feel so bad for Roy Scheider, can you imagine leaving The Deer Hunter to then being forced to do this one? Pleading insanity might have actually stuck in court to be honest if he had gone through with breaking the contract with Universal...
Thanks. Truly life hit Roy Schneider hard that year. Leaving The Deer Hunter for a movie he clearly hated doing and then seeing it be a huge success. That must have hurt.
Respectfully disagree. This movie is not an abomination. Jaws 3 and Jaws The revenge are both absolutely terrible pieces of garbage. This one at least tries to measure up to the first and it does have Roy scheider back as Brody. I have always enjoyed this sequel so I respectfully disagree with your opinion.
Hey I totally get it. It has some things I'm sure people love, mostly shark vs copter based on my comments section. Perhaps I was just hoping for a bit more of the original....but one cannot hope to redo a masterpiece.
I remember the billboards and posters for Jaws 2 everywhere growing up, had a big billboard on Sunset. Great poster art and tagline.
The sequel was almost going to be the Indianapolis incident. That would have been scary as hell.

Wow well that would have been a deeply different film.

With the killer whale carcass, I suspect that was Universal’s F you to Dino De Laurentiis for making Orca
There’s a great book about the Jaws films, Just When You Thought It Was Safe, by Pat Jankiewicz, well worth reading
Great to see you reviewing this jaws sequel.
Thanks!
@@GirlBehindTheCounter your welcome !
Why this sequel? Money of course. I think it made half of what the first Jaws made, and Universal was happy with that
Jaws 2 is the best of the series!!
We got a lot of Jaws 2 defenders here. I'm just sorry I'm not one of them lol
Donna Wilkes from Jaws 2 is in a great exploitation film called Angel about a high school hooker, think you’ll get a kick out of it
Hey. Messaged you on FB about doing a Horror stream! Good video too 😊
I will check it out! Thanks!
Why?! 3 words, Jaws versus Helicopter
A very valid reason !
I like Jaws 2. So sue me.
Hey there are a shocking amount of Jaws 2 defenders In the comments so you are in fantastic company! No shame at all!
There are no guilty pleasures with me, tee hee hee
