Is it a good decision by AFRICAN countries to offer free citizenship to African Americans?!
      Are you kidding me?!
It is the most INTELLIGENT offer that the "continent" itself could ever make!!!
Do you know the amount of knowledge, talent and ability that comes to mother AFRICA with this decision??!!

This is very nice and welcoming, but there's the fact of what happened in Sierra Leonne, Hotel Rwanda, and the troubles that have happened. Africa is a splendid, wonderful continent, but it does have a concerning history. Of course, not all of Africa has a bloody past, but are these leaders really after creating a peaceful safer better place for people? If so, good.

Remove South Africa. We are definitely not offering them citizenship. We treat them like we do any other individuals who come legally. We are far from the slave trade route, so we don't owe them anything. No ancestral ties here.

People please don't believe the hype of this story. I can't speak for other African countries, but Ghana I can . The process to obtain citizenship is slow cumbersome and filled with so much red tape It will cause your head to hurt! The last time Ghana gave out the citizenship to 126 people many of those people had been in Ghana for 10 years waiting. Many that are waiting for citizenship in Ghana now are being nickeled and dimed to death with fees and having to return back to immigration offices regularly. There is a bill pending in the Ghanaian Parliament to address some of the issues but it has been pending for over a year now with no end in sight! Many from the diaspora see the year return as nothing but a money grab to use African Americans and African Caribbeans etc. as cash cows. I know of many African Americans who have been in Ghana upwards to 12 years but now have left Ghana and moved to Rwanda which makes residency so much more easy. Research the facts for yourselves.

At 3:41 this video has asserted that Kenya announced "consideration" of granting citizenship to black Americans. To date and to my knowledge this "consideration" has not resulted in any recognizable action. I know as I'm currently living here through a residency permit costing about $3,000. In 2018, there is no specific information indicating that Kenya initiated moves to grant residency or citizenship to Africans in the diaspora. However, some relevant points are:
Immigrants can apply for permanent residency in Kenya after seven years of legally living and working in the country. Applicants must also reside in Kenya for the three years preceding the application and demonstrate skills, education, and finances that will contribute to the country's overall development. In 2010, Kenya extended voting rights to its estimated 3 million citizens living abroad.
It appears that while Kenya has some provisions for immigrants and its diaspora, there is no specific initiative from 2018 to present focused on granting residency or citizenship to Africans in the diaspora.

I spent a week or more in Ghana, South Africa, and Zimbabwe and loved all of my visits. The countries are beautiful and full of beautiful people. They are developed as well as many cities in the US and have many of the same amenities. For example, Cape Town South Africa reminded me very much of the Inner Harbour area of Baltimore Md, same types of shopping and restaurants. One thing that I remember and relish the most was the singing and voices of the African people, it warms the heart.
The one thing I would caution my brothers and sisters about is you must overcome the cultural shock in some places, some places things are worse than the worse places in the US.

I was so pleased to see these initiatives documented in a manner that is objective and accessible to all. I am concerned about the theme of cynicism that runs throughout this initiative -criticizing it as INVESTMENT soliciting that will NOT benefit the local people must be addressed by the respective Governments because - make no mistake Africans in the diaspora and peoples of African heritage at large, I believe all wish Africa well and want to see her RISE!!!
As a Jamaican I support the voice of our National Hero Marcus Mosiah Garvey who sid -"Africans UNITE and Africa for Africans " Which simply beckons Africans to take pride in their continent and help it RISE and retake its proper place as the cradle of civilization.

They are still being colonized honey. The resources don't belong to them. China is tricking desperate countries into predatory loans , corrupt leaders, and the USA is spreading its power through imperialism , not with military force but through economic/ cultural power. Oh and the women are being tricked into slavery. The media will tell you it is by choice because it's indentured servitude, but it's slavery when the people you work for. Take your passport and don't have to give it back when you can legally kill the women from African countries and your government will help you cover it up (cough, lebanon cough) other nations are helping Africa stay where it is. The US is helping Mexico and South America stay where it is. That's why the USA only sees North Korea ,Russia and China as its only threats because of nuclear weaponry. 😢 All of these things are sad to know, but it would take like a drastic shift in the world to change any of it

The secular dividers of the children of Africa must fear not for humanity is entering a new transformative reality of oneness. It is time for Joseph to come home. Let us learn from the Liberian fiasco and let us overcome poison of divisions that will certainly be distilled soon or later from the same ones. We really deserve honorary citizenship since our ancestors were forced to leave our homeland. We should be able to come home if that's a desire no matter what part of the world our ancestors landed. We have been scattered all over the globe. I am not sure if the movement is about correcting a wrong and truly building a community/bond of the black race. Only God knows the true motive. Bottom line, I am overjoyed that the avenue is available. God bless our people all around the globe. What are their Health Care Facilities Like; Their foods and nutritional values? There Exchange Systems? Their Hygiene and Water Systems? Their Housing and Lodging Accommodations? Their true hospitality? Their hospital care? Their indigenous practices and their influence cf executing them?

Baruch 4:8 Ye have forgotten the everlasting God, that brought you up; and ye have grieved Jerusalem, that nursed you.
    Baruch 4:9 For when she saw the wrath of God coming upon you, she said, Hearken, O ye that dwell about Sion: God hath brought upon me great mourning;
Baruch 4:10 For I saw the captivity of my sons and daughters, which the Everlasting brought upon them.
Baruch 4:11 With joy did I nourish them; but sent them away with weeping and mourning.
Baruch 4:12 Let no man rejoice over me, a widow, and forsaken of many, who for the sins of my children am left desolate; because they departed from the law of God.
Baruch 4:13 They knew not his statutes, nor walked in the ways of his commandments, nor trod in the paths of discipline in his righteousness.
Baruch 4:14 Let them that dwell about Sion come, and remember ye the captivity of my sons and daughters, which the Everlasting hath brought upon them.
Baruch 4:15 For he hath brought a nation upon them from far, a shameless nation, and of a strange language, who neither reverenced old man, nor pitied child.
Baruch 4:16 These have carried away the dear beloved children of the widow, and left her that was alone desolate without daughters.
Baruch 4:17 But what can I help you?
Baruch 4:18 For he that brought these plagues upon you will deliver you from the hands of your enemies.
Baruch 4:19 Go your way, O my children, go your way: for I am left desolate.
Baruch 4:20 I have put off the clothing of peace, and put upon me the sackcloth of my prayer: I will cry unto the Everlasting in my days.
Baruch 4:21 Be of good cheer, O my children, cry unto the Lord, and he will deliver you from the power and hand of the enemies.
Baruch 4:22 For my hope is in the Everlasting, that he will save you; and joy is come unto me from the Holy One, because of the mercy which shall soon come unto you from the Everlasting our Saviour.
Baruch 4:23 For I sent you out with mourning and weeping: but God will give you to me again with joy and gladness for ever.
Baruch 4:24 Like as now the neighbours of Sion have seen your captivity: so shall they see shortly your salvation from our God which shall come upon you with great glory, and brightness of the Everlasting.
Baruch 4:25 My children, suffer patiently the wrath that is come upon you from God: for thine enemy hath persecuted thee; but shortly thou shalt see his destruction, and shalt tread upon his neck.
Baruch 4:26 My delicate ones have gone rough ways, and were taken away as a flock caught of the enemies.
Baruch 4:27 Be of good comfort, O my children, and cry unto God: for ye shall be remembered of him that brought these things upon you.
Baruch 4:28 For as it was your mind to go astray from God: so, being returned, seek him ten times more.
Baruch 4:29 For he that hath brought these plagues upon you shall bring you everlasting joy with your salvation.
Baruch 4:30 Take a good heart, O Jerusalem: for he that gave thee that name will comfort thee.

It has brought me so close to my roots it’s changed my life and perspective second to my personal development as a human being. I’m at the place in my life where it’s either stay here in the U.S. and endure this place or take my saved money and relocate to an African nation. Been going back and forth mentally for years. The decision really is a no-brainer especially after all that I have educated myself on how profoundly colonized our people have been and still are. I’ve got to get home and help empower our people through not only our spirits, minds, souls but also put my brainpower and economical contribution to my own people instead of a nation that is conditional upon the love they have for us.

Africa needs to call all her children back home and receive them back into their communities that they were forcibly removed from. Can you imagine if all the descendants of Africa were to return back to Africa from all parts of the world? With all that we’ve acquired and accomplished? Africa must wake up and feel PROUD of her descendants who persevered through horrendous atrocities yet prevailed to become THE BEST IN SPORTS, MUSIC, MEDICINE, TECHNOLOGY AND ANY AREA WE WERE PUT IN 🎉Africa Unite. Be proud of your children at home or abroad. Africa Forever

It is not only "a good decision by African countries," but it is also long overdue. As long as the African diaspora are not forced to give up their American citizenship, it is the right thing to do. Dual citizenship should also be acceptable in the host country in order to pave the way for the African diaspora returning to their roots. Rescinding the costly visa and the long residency requirement may also be the right policy, given that the African diaspora have a RIGHT to return and reclaim their heritage. This should have been done a long time ago, but it is better late than never. I applaud all the African countries that have at long last decided to do this. Well done.

@@APOLO-oq3ce Well, let me hope so. The African diaspora, who already have their citizenship in their home country, would be aspiring to become citizens of another country in Africa. Therefore, dual citizenship must be acceptable in the host country, without having to relinquish their citizenship in their home countries, in order to become a citizen of their chosen African country. That is what I meant.

Indigenous Americans feel safe in Africa because they were colonized and had similar experiences with Europeans but the Africans history wasn’t totally rewritten as the indigenous Americans was. I just wish the Americans had researched their actual history and not take for granted what white Americans history books (daughters of the confederacy wrote)lied to them about.

I watched until I saw that Oprah got her Citizenship than "came back several times". That's not a citizen. That's a tourist. I don't care who you are or what you got in you. If you so something, do it to it's fullest potential. No half measures. The celebrities that got their citizenship there did it to get their "activist card" in the community to counter balance their celebrity status of privilege. Hard time arguing with someone that is a citizen of Africa and has been there.
