Really funny to see this since I recently had an MP game on the Habibi server, where Japan declared a show superiority on me as the ming. I disbanded my army so he couldnt get warscore, and had built a fort in every province I was allowed to, along with ramparts for atrition. He reached 2 million atrition casualties in 1550, only making it to my final fort after 25 years of sieging, his christian triple manpower running out twice in the course of the war. he had to siege every province because he couldnt get ticking warscore.
i thought habibi discord changed mp mods, i thought they break up china now instead of playing with a ming but yeah, countries that can stack attrition modifiers are really annoying to play against, i played in an MP game as russia and went defensive infra (i think infra is really good as russia) and people complained about how much they were losing when fighting me lol
One of the things I really miss about early EU4 was being able to win via attrition - for the first few years you could deplete the enemy's manpower and weaken their armies, like you tried to do here. But in later patches it seems to be impossible - whether that's because of mercs or slackening or something else I'm not sure, but it's a shame that the tactic doesn't exist any more.
Used to be the only way to survive as a horde/caucasian against Russia. But now there are so many scaling mechanisms that its not necessary to beat them tactically.
Disagree. If you got any defensive/attrition modifiers in national ideas then it's pretty easy to stack ideas/policies/reforms. The only reason AI is less affected by attrition is because supply limit is applied per stack, not to every stack at once due to the AI not knowing to avoid over stacking with their allies.
Hey, I think I just beat the game. I just got level 6 & 7 forts in 1508. I'm pretty sure no one can siege me down now. This is what I did. I don't know if you can do this with a normal nation, cos I used a custom nation. I was trying to see how I could get amazing forts so no one could ever siege my land down. So, I did a custom nation, picked some weird monarchy type that gives extra fort defence. I forget which. Fort defence national ideas and attrition to enemies and Defensive ideas as my first idea etc. But that's not what got me the forts. Firstly, I put my nation in the HRE near Savoy. Allied them, made sure they did well, giving them money, helping in wars so they get some of their missions done. (if you are not getting lucky you can console command it). Basically, eventually Savoy gets the third mission in a row to upgrade its forts to level 4s. Then, I warred Savoy and took their land. I then changed my culture to Piedmontese, and continued playing. Eventually I formed Sardinia-Piedmont. To my surprise I got the Savoy missions again. Weirdly it didnt count my level 4 Bastions as Castles so I had to build 4 more castles. I was assuming it would only upgrade the castles to Bastions, but the mission actually upgraded the Bastions also to Star Forts. So now, pretty much no one can beat me right? I dunno if you can still do this with other nations. Maybe the reason I got the full mission tree was cos I had the basic one myself? Im not sure. You could try this as another nation and see if it works also with non custom nations.
Funny that after several million losses in 1500s the amount of enemy gains at 100 warscore will be negligeble for Ming. And having forts everywhere will wipe out the devastation quickly so mandate shall grow back pretty fast. You can do this 30 year war quite often.
China Kobold larp is real
That heir dying the exact moment you wanted to abdicate was absolutely hilarious.

By the way, you shall try it in the early 1700s with 8 level forts and ramparts everywhere.
You stacked all the garrison size then lowered morale so every enemy assault was basically won instantly 😅
Based and attritionpilled
Yarkand playthrough when ?
