You are a honest Sunni who are respected by Shias. However just like how Christians have divisions amongst themselves despite calling themselves Christians, there are vast differences amongst Sunnis. For example, wahabbis or ahl salaf also call themselves Sunni and yet they don't have any respect for the household of the prophet (pbuh) they consider them as normal everyday people astaghfirullah. Imam Ali and the Caliphs Their Relationship and Interaction ‘Abd al-Karim Bi-Azar Shirazi Translated by D. D. Sodagar Abstract Unknown to many Muslims, both Shia and Sunni, Imam ‘Ali had congenial relations and productive interactions with the three caliphs that preceded him. In practice his magnanimity knew no bounds and he acted as their faithful advisor and would pray behind them. Though in principle the Imam and his successors enunciated their right to the leadership of the ummah, they never acted upon it to the detriment of Muslim unity. This article proves to be a source of inspiration for present-day Muslims who are beset by the scourge of sectarianism; it is especially pertinent for those who look up to the Imam as an exemplar to be emulated in words and deeds. Introduction ‘Allamah Majlisi narrates the following authenticated hadith from the Master of the Faithful regarding how Muslims should speak of the Prophet’s companions: Let me advise you regarding the companions of the Prophet of God (may His peace and blessings be upon him and his household). Avoid speaking ill of them, for verily they are the companions of your Prophet, companions who altered not the religion and respected not those who altered the religion. Yes, the Prophet (may God’s peace and blessings be upon him and his household) thus advised me regarding them.1 In another instance, Imam ‘Ali thus describes the companions of the Prophet: “Verily I witnessed the companions of Muhammad (may God’s peace and blessings be upon him and his household), and I have not seen anyone like them.”2 In their turn, the eminent companions would refer to Imam ‘Ali as “the fellow of the Reminder”3 (ahl al-dhikr). For solving their problems and questions they would go to him. Thus in Masjid al-Nabi after each prayer, those seeking knowledge would circle around Imam ‘Ali to benefit from his illimitable knowledge. Jurists of Sham and ‘Iraq followed his verdict. Where the caliphs were unable to solve a problem, they would seek Imam ‘Ali’s assistance. Where their judgments differed from Imam ‘Ali’s, the Caliphs would usually defer to him.4 In his al-Mughni, Qudamah al-Muqaddasi narrates the following statement from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abbas: “Where we encountered ‘Ali’s opinion, we would not take that of anyone else.”5 Praying with the Caliphs Al-Shaykh al-Hurr al-’Amili narrates the following two hadiths regarding the Ahlulbayt’s praying with Sunni rulers: “Verily the Prophet intermarried with them50 and ‘Ali prayed behind them;”51 “Hasan and Husayn would pray behind Marwan.”52 ‘Allamah al-Sayyid ‘Abd al-Husayn Sharaf al-Din provides the following explanation on this topic: [Imam ‘Ali] performed his prayer behind [the Caliphs] sincerely for God. Thus we submit to him and seek proximity to God by praying in congregation behind Sunni imams. This is approved by the school of the Ahlulbayt: worshippers are rewarded for praying in congregation behind Sunni imams just as they are rewarded for praying behind Shia imams. Conclusion Thus Imam ‘Ali and his virtuous successors retained differences within reasonable limits so that the unity of the Muslim community would be preserved unharmed, as disunity would have been advantageous only to the enemies of Islam. As time passed, however, the interests of tyrants required that they foment conflict and provoke Muslims against one another so as to hinder progress. And today, though caliphate is not a political reality any longer, imperialist powers, assailing the Muslim world from every corner, try to rekindle the historical differences by inciting ignorant figures on both sides. And Muslims instead of standing up against imperialist powers, who are the real enemy, have preoccupied themselves with factional quarrel.

What Sahih Muslim 1757c Book 32, Hadith 58 importantly indicates is that Imam Ali even after the caliphate of Abu Bakr had not recognised it as legitimate because exactly what he thought of Abu Bakr ('a liar, sinful, treacherous and dishonest) he then thought of of Umar when he became caliph as Umar himself admits in the hadith. This is in complete contradiction with Sahih al-Bukhari 4240, 4241 Book 64, Hadith 278 as it claims that following the death of Lady Fatima, Imam Ali goes to Abu Bakr to make ammends and pledges allegiance. If this were true and Imam recognised the caliphate as legitimate, then why did Imam Ali then think of Umar as the exact same words ('a liar, sinful, treacherous and dishonest) when he succeeded Abu Bakr? Reading both hadiths screams out the contradiction

Subsequently, the nomination and then inaiguration of Umer was also done through their time's democratic norms. Please counter-argue the thesis on this issue by Javaid Ghamdi.
Simple. When the prophet (pbuh) asked for a pen and paper to write down his will, they called him delusional. Go figure. Was that the norm too? Wake up brother.

Hazrat Ali says "The Quran has proclaimed some things as obligatory, but they have been annuled by the Prophetic Tradition. 3:155 Indeed, those ˹believers˺ who fled on the day when the two armies met were made to slip by Satan because of their misdeeds. But Allah has pardoned them. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Forbearing. 3:159 It is out of Allah’s mercy that you ˹O Prophet˺ have been lenient with them. Had you been cruel or hard-hearted, they would have certainly abandoned you. So pardon them, ask Allah’s forgiveness for them, and consult with them in ˹conducting˺ matters. Once you make a decision, put your trust in Allah. Surely Allah loves those who trust in Him. 3:195 So their Lord responded to them: “I will never deny any of you-male or female-the reward of your deeds. Both are equal in reward. Those who migrated or were expelled from their homes, and were persecuted for My sake and fought and ˹some˺ were martyred-I will certainly forgive their sins and admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow, as a reward from Allah. And with Allah is the finest reward!”
While the caliphate and Imam Ali were fighting in the path of Allah and bringing down empires and spreading Islam to the world we are after 1400 only concerned about who should of been da caliphate that's the difference of them and us these talks are just complete waste of time and nonsense as they say actions speak louder than words
Sermon 3 Shqshaqiya in Nahjul balaga has been added many centuries later by people with an agenda. First of all, authenticity is an objective historical judgment and has nothing to do with madhhabs or sects. The authenticity of a hadith, saying, or book is judged according to the accuracy of the sources, not the religious affiliation of the narrator or critic. Many Sunni and Shi’i hadith narrators and hadith critics have deemed authorities in hadith narration and hadith criticism respectively. Scholars have criticized the authenticity of Nahj al Balagh because of its lack of chains of transmission and unique religious and linguistic content that is unreflective of a work of its nature. For the most part, the sayings and sermons ascribed to Sayyidna Ali (May Allah ennoble his face) lack any full chain of transmission. Given that the sayings were collected by a scholar approximately 350 years after Sayyidna Ali, this calls into question the authenticity of the work.Secondly, most of the book’s content is not found anywhere else. When we look at any normal book of hadith or sayings of the early Muslims, we generally find a lot of cross-over with other sources. The fact that a whole host of quotes and sermons of Sayyidna Ali should just appear nearly four centuries after his death is very questionable indeed.
So has the other books like bukhari, Muslim, etc. the fact that the prophet left so many Hadiths about Ali(as) in Sunni books should tell you all you need to know. Seek the truth and you will find it.
@@edlermaro6700 No books ever written denied the Noble character and morals and knowledge of Hazrat Ali. Imam Ali and the Caliphs Their Relationship and Interaction
‘Abd al-Karim Bi-Azar Shirazi Translated by D. D. Sodagar
Abstract
Unknown to many Muslims, both Shia and Sunni, Imam ‘Ali had congenial relations and productive interactions with the three caliphs that preceded him.
Introduction
‘Allamah Majlisi narrates the following authenticated hadith from the Master of the Faithful regarding how Muslims should speak of the Prophet’s companions:
Let me advise you regarding the companions of the Prophet of God (may His peace and blessings be upon him and his household). Avoid speaking ill of them, for verily they are the companions of your Prophet, companions who altered not the religion and respected not those who altered the religion. Yes, the Prophet (may God’s peace and blessings be upon him and his household) thus advised me regarding them.1
In another instance, Imam ‘Ali thus describes the companions of the Prophet: “Verily I witnessed the companions of Muhammad (may God’s peace and blessings be upon him and his household), and I have not seen anyone like them.”2
In their turn, the eminent companions would refer to Imam ‘Ali as “the fellow of the Reminder”3 (ahl al-dhikr). Where their judgments differed from Imam ‘Ali’s, the Caliphs would usually defer to him.4 In his al-Mughni, Qudamah al-Muqaddasi narrates the following statement from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abbas: “Where we encountered ‘Ali’s opinion, we would not take that of anyone else.”5
Praying with the Caliphs
Al-Shaykh al-Hurr al-’Amili narrates the following two hadiths regarding the Ahlulbayt’s praying with Sunni rulers: “Verily the Prophet intermarried with them50 and ‘Ali prayed behind them;”51 “Hasan and Husayn would pray behind Marwan.”52
‘Allamah al-Sayyid ‘Abd al-Husayn Sharaf al-Din provides the following explanation on this topic:
[Imam ‘Ali] performed his prayer behind [the Caliphs] sincerely for God. Thus we submit to him and seek proximity to God by praying in congregation behind Sunni imams. This is approved by the school of the Ahlulbayt: worshippers are rewarded for praying in congregation behind Sunni imams just as they are rewarded for praying behind Shia imams.
Conclusion
Thus Imam ‘Ali and his virtuous successors retained differences within reasonable limits so that the unity of the Muslim community would be preserved unharmed, as disunity would have been advantageous only to the enemies of Islam.

So which one is it? Do you take whatever Hadiths works for you in one book and then whatever works in the next?

Subsequently, the nomination and then inaiguration of Umer was also done through their time's democratic norms. Please counter-argue the thesis on this issue by Javaid Ghamdi.
Simple. When the prophet (pbuh) asked for a pen and paper to write down his will, they called him delusional. Go figure. Was that the norm too? Wake up brother.
Please continue to believe what you believe in re: Calaphat-we have no problem. If Abu Bakar was democratically elected then why he did not adopt the same process for his successor-instead he decided to appoint Omar without any democratic process.
@@Muted3Mashallah, what an answer.
Bro. Go find out facts on your own. Why do we have to answer you everytime on every issue. This lecture was not too difficult for a normal human brain to understand. And honestly, shia scholars doesn't need to debate with anyone. It's Sunni scholars who never dare to do a debate with any shia scholars. Please go check facts. May Allah guide you and save you from GAMIDI
If Allah's messenger appoint ALI should he not be chosen by Muslim? who are the people ? and where is democracy ? democracy if was an issue Allah would let people chose their own way of life ! not sending messenger ! democracy is an excuse ! and even you brough shame on democracy ! so stop saying democracy !
Salaam alaikum, Please explain to me with example what the following exerpt from Nahjul Balagha mean. Hazrat Ali says "The Quran has proclaimed some things as obligatory, but they have been annuled by the Prophetic Tradition. There are also certain matters that have been considered as obligatory in the Tradition, but the Quran allows their annulment. There are also matters that were obligatory in their own time, but were later abolished." Thanking you in advance for your reply. wa salaam

Indeed, those ˹believers˺ who fled on the day when the two armies met were made to slip by Satan because of their misdeeds. But Allah has pardoned them. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.
3:159
It is out of Allah’s mercy that you ˹O Prophet˺ have been lenient with them. Had you been cruel or hard-hearted, they would have certainly abandoned you. So pardon them, ask Allah’s forgiveness for them, and consult with them in ˹conducting˺ matters. Once you make a decision, put your trust in Allah. Surely Allah loves those who trust in Him.

So their Lord responded to them: “I will never deny any of you-male or female-the reward of your deeds.
Still doesn't make sense Rasulallah (saww) departing the world without leaving a successor. Open your mind, and ALLAH will guide you.
If the Shias don’t cherry pick from Bukhari, Muslim and others they will find many wonderful things written about Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Omar and the respect they and Hazrat Ali had for each other.
@Zed Ispahany, yeah you mean tolerating the situation which Imam Ali (AS) did very well. Its okay to love those at Saqifa, but I stick with the one chosen at Ghadeer. And the discussion here is if the Prophet (saww) advised or left the ummah with a successor which I said it won't make sense if he didn't.
@@zedispahany7317 can you please mention any significant & reliable Hadith Re: Abu Bakar & Omar please
