What's amazing is that despite this being 50 years ago, some of the performers on the big signs are still alive, Steve Lawrence, Shecky Greene and Wayne Newton! If anyone cares, the car they are in is a 1967 AMC Ambassador Four Door Sedan, I had one in the exact same blue color!
I’m blown away. Awesome footage and memories for me. I saw the Staple Singers at the Sands in 72. Went to Vegas every summer with my family. I was 17 that year. The dinner shows were fantastic. I saw Sinatra, DeanMartin, Sammy Davis, Elvis (77), Red Fox, and so many others. Thanks for the memories ✌🏻
Oh my goodness, to think I been living here since 1975 and all the buildings and high rises now, I only see them on the internet even though I live here, never could stand it when they started to make a Circus out of Vegas and I am not talking about Circus Circus, lol!
We were married there in 1974! Just two years after this film. For all it is worth, it looked exactly like this. It was so much more fun and actually much much cleaner in every way. The Italians actually did a wonderful job managing it and it was actually much more classy than it is today. We are still married, in love, and go back to capture it , but it is now so much different. Only in our minds and hearts, ( and this snapshot in time) is it the same. I much prefer the way it was.

Dad had a business meeting in L.A and we tacked on a family vacation; mom, sis, dad and I jumped in his company car, a 1969 Impala. We left Denver, made a pit stop in Salt Lake City; then Vegas for a couple days; stayed at the Riviera, checked out Circus Circus, then on to L.A....Knott's Berry Farm, Disneyland. Magical places at a magical time.
@@KeithGraham Love your movies. My dad had been to conventions there and he and mom were actually at the Sands when Basie and Sinatra were there in 65. My first trip was in 75, junior year in college when I had turned 21 and we drove out from Boulder. Not much of a gambler but you could eat for next to nothing and see Elvis at the International. I went back about every five years or so and it's really true that each time it's a different city.
“SAMMY”. One name says it all. I’d love to see him there. All of these one to two floor hotels feel so homey. I am a comic and I worked both the Stardust and Rivera before they were tore down. Spending weeks at a time in a hotel with nothing to do you really get to explore it. The abandoned food courts, the empty bars. I live Vegas now, but I’d love to go back then, and see what kind of good time I could find myself in. Thank you for uploading. This is a beautiful documentation of early 70’s history. It’s funny, whomever shot this probably thought,”let me have some fun with my silly little camera”. Not realizing that they were documenting history. Beautiful.
My paternal grandma's maiden name was Downs. She died before I was born, but I met her sister who remained single until she died; Downs was always her surname. Wishing you well.
My mother and I moved to Vegas in 1969 I was 12 years old and I grew up and lived there for 40 years and that really brings back memories and in 72 I was a junior in school and that was nice to watch my mother worked at Circus Circus for 25 years... she got the job the day the casino opened. Thank you for the ride down memory lane.
my friend got a football scholarship to UNLV '72--i visited him after football season and we went to the casinos late at night--i had a huge penny jar and about 20 of us played penny slots all night--they even lets us have drinks even though most of us not 21--as long as we behaved--we were there til daylight and then got full breakfast for 29 cents!! it was a hoot,the old days...
We stopped in Vegas back in 72 on our way to Detroit. Rolled up in 1970 Pontiac stationwagon, stopped for dinner at the Hacienda , what a deal on New York Steak. My Dad put a silver dollar in a big Slot by the entrance, no luck, we laughed, got gas and hauled ass for Utah in an awesome thunderstorm on the way out. Full serve gas too , with coffee to go. GOOD Times
My dad ran the Stardust back then. I worked the front desk. It was such a simple, complex, fun time to live there, locals hung out in the same places, and most all people in the industry knew each other. You sure can’t walk across the street on the strip anymore. I could go on and on….but those days are gone…..
I didn't get to the Stardust until the 90's when I worked the Starlite Lounge on a recurring basis. Good times! We always stayed in the back 40's where they had the drive-up type rooms separate from the main hotel towers. I was told that area was once a rv type park layout previously. To see it gone now leaves me cold inside. And Industrial Road? Impossible to recognize.The City never sleeps!
@@leomannpictures those rooms, in December, we’re $4.95 a night. All the hookers would rent them out. I worked the Front Desk and would lock out about 15 rooms a night cause they couldn’t even pay the $5.00. The campers were on the west side of the property. At one point I worked there too.

I was just thinking about some of the '50s cars still on the road, too. In '72, a car from '57 was only 15 years old. Today, a 15 year old car is a 2009.
Born at Sunrise Hospital 1977. My dad was a Bell Captain at the Sands from 57-82. These videos make me wish I was born 10-15 years earlier to really enjoy this version of a once great city.
This was the year I saw Vegas for the first time in my life at the ripe ol’ age of 21! I was there with 200 other route salesmen from the Denver Dr Pepper group (Gooding franchise). We stayed at the original MGM hotel and saw Roy Clark the first night and Roger Miller the next. I’ve been back to Vegas many times before retiring (2015) after 38 years of OTR trucking. I have to say I liked it a lot better THEN than I do now. If I had to choose between Vegas and Laughlin today it’d be Laughlin hands down! Thanks for the memories! ~Jim~

And that's not good at all, we can see the results these days very clearly. Younger generations totally addicted to their smartphones. Oh well ... born in 1972 I'm glad that I lived my childhood in the late 70's and in the 80's and my youth in the 90's. As from the year 2000 onwards, I see it as having been one continuous downward spiral when it comes to humanity in general in developed countries. Peace ✌️
Just got back from a week in Vegas for work. Last time I was there was 2013. I thought the city changed a lot, but man, this really puts some perspective on it! Honestly, 70’s vegas looks like the one I would visit on my own.
I was 20 years old the summer of 72. I remember me and 2 buddies went to Vegas a few times that year. We'd play $1 blackjack all night, then hit the 99 cent breakfast special at 6 am, oh those were the days.
@@jwwj30 Unfortunately, no. The camera was too jittery. I was still a teenager in 1972 and if I remember correctly gas was $.33 a gallon (makes me sad). Upon rewatching this video I also saw Gulf, Texaco, and Mobil. IIRC I had a Phillips 66 credit card back then 🤓
my friend went to unlv in '72 after we played football together at jr college socal-- when i came to visit i bought a 5 gallon water bottle full of pennies--all of us kids would play slots all night long on the penny slots-none us was 21--they did not care--when we hit a jackpot(5 bucks maybe) we would all hoot and holler-they served us drinks--it was a blast unlike today--breakfast was like 19 cents!! we were laughing all night even those who did not drink(mormon kids..) fun stuff-- all those movies were made about our life,hot girls,hot cars,skiing the mountains,surfing in socal and we were polite,not hooligans at all---go to bishop amat vs blair in '69 state championship,u tube,--many kids went pro,major college off those two teams--we were badass,52 years ago!!! it went by so fast....
Unfortunately , like many countries we stopped making our quality, characterful products and exchanged them for low quality, cheap products from you know where. And, in the greedy search for lower costs and higher profits (without a thought to quality) we exported our jobs, skills and infrastructure. A sad indictment on the Western world.

This is how I remember Vegas. I grew up there, and I was at Western High when this filmed. I went to Fremont Street with My friends on the weekends and cruised. Thanks for helping it come alive for me again, I've not been back in many years. The pictures I see of it now, it's so different.
That was great. I was born and raised there. Born in 74, I've since moved to Oregon for some time now, but it's nice to see old familiar places. My dad worked at the Sands hotel in the Copa Room and my mom at the Desert Inn.
My father was only 2 by then and predates my mom by a year. Damn, things in the '70s were VERY different. Much simpler era compared to what we see nowadays. But that was the age of big metal cars with great V8s.
My family used to drive from LA to Denver to have a proper Christmas with family. We often stopped in Vegas so my dad could go to the blackjack tables. There used to be a place in a strip mall, maybe it was downtown, where there was a snack bar separated from a ton of slot machines and tables. Can't remember the name, but we used to get pizza and shrimp cocktails there. I think they sold them at a loss to bring in gamblers. In fact, a couple decades later, I remember blowing a wad at "Slots of Fun," shown in the video. Of course, many of us have been to Caesar's Palace-probably the only big casino that's still there. *_Thanks for the memories!_*
Came to Las Vegas 50 years ago & everything was so simple,quiet & not a lot of crimes.There was only few major casinos on the strip.No traffic & mostly tourist from out of town came to see entertainment.Now,it’s totally a different ball game & brutality,crime,drugs are all over & I myself are even afraid to visit the strip because of the congestion & not knowing what’s waiting for you!!!!I missed the old days….😌
Life was so much simpler and much more pleasant than today's. People had manners, dressed nice and were civil towards each other. Unlike today where people are at each other's throat constantly which high crime rates everywhere and stress filled days from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed. I wish I was born in the era.

Very Cool! My Parents took me to Las Vegas shortly after Circus Circus opened, around 1969-1970. I was about 9 or 10, and had a blast! We went back at least once after that. Thanks for sharing the memories!
I was 9 years old when this was filmed and at the time my oldest sister was married to Sammy Davis Jr's cousin and we used to drive to Vegas quite a bit. We were never told up front we were going so that we would go to bed as normal but, got woken up in the middle of the night to pile into the station wagon. Once on the road we fell back asleep and the adults didn't have to listen to us. Ingenious. Anyway, seeing the Sammy sign at The Sands and seeing Circus Circus brought back memories.
@@davestewart2067 I think it was about that time. That just reminded me of when I played in the last Mark and Brian celebrity golf tournament in Southern Cal about 15 or more years ago. I met Steve Lukather of Toto and his golf bag had The Candyman and a big candy cane on it. I told him about my brother-in-law and said if he ever got rid of that bag I would love to have first dibs to bring it back to the family. No luck on that to this day.

When I moved there with my mother we lived in an apartment so there was a gang of kids we all hung together all those years up through high School and all of the kids were from somewhere else Vegas was too new I guess you could say for the kids to have been born there yet everybody had come from somewhere else and it's such a simple little town. those were the best years of my life in that little town of Vegas. We used to cruise Fremont Street when I was in high school.
My grandparents went there in those days,twice a year.They have countless pictures and seeing this video puts them all in motion…very cool! Thanks for the post!
Great video. This is how i remember seeing Las Vegas my first time in 1973.I was eleven years old. Flew to Las Vegas to visit my friends on Hughes Airwest Airlines . Only cost my $29.00 to fly to Las Vegas from Ontario, California 45 minute flight .
This was almost 10 years before I was born but I appreciate how every casino/resort was its own majestic property. Not shoved in between 5 different skyscrapers with an M&M's store and a Burger King at the front door. Casino entrances in this video had men in tuxedos opening the door for you to make you feel like a star, valet parking, waiters offering a cigar and a refill for your flask. I wish I had been alive to experience Vegas that way.
Yes, it was great then! There were NO chain restaurants/coffee bars inside the casinos! It seemed like it was an unwritten rule or maybe a point of pride? Each casino had its own personality before they started building theme park-like monstrosities!!

I know that's a lot deeper into "modern times" but that was the last time Vegas had that familiar nostalgic "feel". Now it just feels like going to L.A. with casinos.
I was there in around 1972 to 1974, and stayed at a place called the Marina Hotel. I don't know if it still exists, but someone told me awhile ago, it was torn down and rebuilt. I was with my girlfriend, and we stayed at her aunts house in Santa Monica, very close to the beach. All I can say is I remember some fancier buildings, and I believe I played poker or black jack at the MGM, which stood out from other places, and was quite fancy. Haven't been back tho. Very nice to see this video. Went in July, and it felt like a blast furnace, getting out of the car.
OMG, looking at Vegas forty years ago, holy cow, check out all the signs of businesses and stuff that no longer exist, ENCO, Sambos restaurant, the low cost of things, how nice to rent a car for $9 a day, .09 a mile, that's the good old days, the cars were big and looking good, what a time the early seventies, the strip was way different than today, wish we could go back to those days, a less expensive world!!!!

This brings back memories ! I wasn’t much of a gambler but I told myself I would spend $20.00 and no more ! I played black Jack and slot machines until I had only change in my pocket ! I went to the airport to head back home from my business trip. There was a nickel slot machine ( remember those ) so I put 5 cents in and won 95 cents before my flight left for home . I went out a winner ( so to speak ) ! 😂 Darn good 8mm movie camera you had to make this footage ! 👍
I was around 12 when this old Vegas scene was filmed. I remember it looking like what is depicted in this video. My SoCal Pop Warner Pee Wee team went to Vegas to play a post season match up with a team from here that very same year! Doesn't look anything like this anymore!
First visit to Vegas was back in 1985. I moved here in 2000. This video was so awesome to see, what a great post KG's old home movies. I don't recall what that huge white water fall was at 0.25 seconds but WOW. I would love to see that today, something about that just draws me in.

I went to Vegas in 1963 when I was a kid. We stayed at the Sands I think but I remember there were no tall building back then it was basically flat . There was the flamingo and the Sands and probably the stuff on Fremont of course but the strip seemed like a bunch of small motels. Now its unrecognizable man.
I couldn't care less about the Las Vegas strip, but looking closely at all those beautiful cars of the '60s era is the stuff dreams are made of. I saw a 60s or 70 Mustang oncoming, glimpses of like an older GTO or 442, and a few 1960ish Chevys and pickups. But no luck on spotting a Shelby Cobra or Dodge Daytona - they would have been the real things, not kits or "tributes".

I remember driving the strip in 1972 while on a week end vacation. When you went to a show you had to wear a suit and tie. We stayed at the Algiers on the strip.
Thank you for bringing this video to light. 1974 I was a teenager visiting VEGAS for the first time with my Mom, and another couple. We stayed at THE HILTON INTERNATIONAL 3000 Paradise blvd. [ now the WESTGATE ] And although I was allowed in the casinos, I could not play the slots. We saw Bobby Darrin at the Hilton, and Don Rickles at the RIVIERA. I visit Vegas two or three times a year, and I am still energized, and amazed at this legendary town. Last month I saw the all new RESORST WORLD newest property with its tri-tower design and probably the hottest night club on the strip. It stands about where THE STARDUST used to. Still need to go to LAKE LAS VEGAS. Can't wait to go back in early 2022.
You will probably love Mexico then as the cartels hold sway over significant aspects of that country. Yes who would not prefer governance by barely literate thugs.

If you look closely, you can see The Leaning Tower of Pizza, a favorite hangout of the mafia. In the movie 'Casino', this is the place where Sharon Stone creates a scene and Joe Pesci ushers her out the front door.
Wow.. Slots O' Fun and Circus Circus are in the same spot and basically look the same today. Did the Motel marquee on one of the motels say $3.99/night? Damn, those were the days...

I wish I knew the exact date this was taken. On Friday September 1st,1972, I flew out to Vegas to see my older sister. We drove around in her yellow Volkswagen. I spent all 4 minutes and 21 seconds looking for it. I'd flip if I had seen it.

As the film moved down the strip I really enjoyed re-living places I worked at in Vegas during the 70's. I'm 76 now and really miss those grand times.

I was a JR in high school in 72 too. (66 now) We visited LV in 1970 went in circus circus. My aunt & uncle were school teachers in LV.,

my friend got a football scholarship to UNLV '72--i visited him after football season and we went to the casinos late at night--i had a huge penny jar and about 20 of us played penny slots all night--they even lets us have drinks even though most of us not 21--as long as we behaved--we were there til daylight and then got full breakfast for 29 cents!! it was a hoot,the old days...
Just left Vegas this past weekend. Not much from this era still exists in modern day Vegas. Such a shame.
We stopped in Vegas back in 72 on our way to Detroit. Rolled up in 1970 Pontiac stationwagon, stopped for dinner at the Hacienda , what a deal on New York Steak. My Dad put a silver dollar in a big Slot by the entrance, no luck, we laughed, got gas and hauled ass for Utah in an awesome thunderstorm on the way out. Full serve gas too , with coffee to go. GOOD Times

My dad ran the Stardust back then. I worked the front desk. It was such a simple, complex, fun time to live there, locals hung out in the same places, and most all people in the industry knew each other. You sure can’t walk across the street on the strip anymore. I could go on and on….but those days are gone…..

I didn't get to the Stardust until the 90's when I worked the Starlite Lounge on a recurring basis. Good times! We always stayed in the back 40's where they had the drive-up type rooms separate from the main hotel towers. I was told that area was once a rv type park layout previously. To see it gone now leaves me cold inside. And Industrial Road? Impossible to recognize.The City never sleeps!
@@leomannpictures those rooms, in December, we’re $4.95 a night. All the hookers would rent them out. I worked the Front Desk and would lock out about 15 rooms a night cause they couldn’t even pay the $5.00. The campers were on the west side of the property. At one point I worked there too.

This was the year I saw Vegas for the first time in my life at the ripe ol’ age of 21! I was there with 200 other route salesmen from the Denver Dr Pepper group (Gooding franchise). We stayed at the original MGM hotel and saw Roy Clark the first night and Roger Miller the next. I’ve been back to Vegas many times before retiring (2015) after 38 years of OTR trucking. I have to say I liked it a lot better THEN than I do now. If I had to choose between Vegas and Laughlin today it’d be Laughlin hands down! Thanks for the memories! ~Jim~

Just got back from a week in Vegas for work. Last time I was there was 2013. I thought the city changed a lot, but man, this really puts some perspective on it! Honestly, 70’s vegas looks like the one I would visit on my own.
I'd love to have gone there back then, back in the days of $2.00 buffets, etc.
In May of 1972, the breakfast buffet at The Mint downtown was 49 cents. Lunch buffet was 79 cents. Dinner buffet was 99 cents. Just sayin....
We could still go back to $2 buffet, if we all go out protest USA dollar fiat currency in front of white house. Fiat currency that's the root cause.
They had those $2 buffets in the 80s
Downtown Vegas definitely has some buffets in that price range that are surprisingly satisfying. Not great, but good enough.
I was 20 years old the summer of 72. I remember me and 2 buddies went to Vegas a few times that year. We'd play $1 blackjack all night, then hit the 99 cent breakfast special at 6 am, oh those were the days.

@@jwwj30 Unfortunately, no. The camera was too jittery. I was still a teenager in 1972 and if I remember correctly gas was $.33 a gallon (makes me sad). Upon rewatching this video I also saw Gulf, Texaco, and Mobil. IIRC I had a Phillips 66 credit card back then 🤓

my friend went to unlv in '72 after we played football together at jr college socal-- when i came to visit i bought a 5 gallon water bottle full of pennies--all of us kids would play slots all night long on the penny slots-none us was 21--they did not care--when we hit a jackpot(5 bucks maybe) we would all hoot and holler-they served us drinks--it was a blast unlike today--breakfast was like 19 cents!! we were laughing all night even those who did not drink(mormon kids..) fun stuff-- all those movies were made about our life,hot girls,hot cars,skiing the mountains,surfing in socal and we were polite,not hooligans at all---go to bishop amat vs blair in '69 state championship,u tube,--many kids went pro,major college off those two teams--we were badass,52 years ago!!! it went by so fast....

And, in the greedy search for lower costs and higher profits (without a thought to quality) we exported our jobs, skills and infrastructure. A sad indictment on the Western world.

This is how I remember Vegas. I grew up there, and I was at Western High when this filmed. I went to Fremont Street with My friends on the weekends and cruised. Thanks for helping it come alive for me again, I've not been back in many years. The pictures I see of it now, it's so different.

That was great. I was born and raised there. Born in 74, I've since moved to Oregon for some time now, but it's nice to see old familiar places. My dad worked at the Sands hotel in the Copa Room and my mom at the Desert Inn.

My father was only 2 by then and predates my mom by a year. Damn, things in the '70s were VERY different. Much simpler era compared to what we see nowadays. But that was the age of big metal cars with great V8s.

My family used to drive from LA to Denver to have a proper Christmas with family. We often stopped in Vegas so my dad could go to the blackjack tables. There used to be a place in a strip mall, maybe it was downtown, where there was a snack bar separated from a ton of slot machines and tables. Can't remember the name, but we used to get pizza and shrimp cocktails there. I think they sold them at a loss to bring in gamblers. In fact, a couple decades later, I remember blowing a wad at "Slots of Fun," shown in the video. Of course, many of us have been to Caesar's Palace-probably the only big casino that's still there. *_Thanks for the memories!_*
Came to Las Vegas 50 years ago & everything was so simple,quiet & not a lot of crimes.There was only few major casinos on the strip.No traffic & mostly tourist from out of town came to see entertainment.Now,it’s totally a different ball game & brutality,crime,drugs are all over & I myself are even afraid to visit the strip because of the congestion & not knowing what’s waiting for you!!!!I missed the old days….😌

Life was so much simpler and much more pleasant than today's. People had manners, dressed nice and were civil towards each other. Unlike today where people are at each other's throat constantly which high crime rates everywhere and stress filled days from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed. Very Cool! My Parents took me to Las Vegas shortly after Circus Circus opened, around 1969-1970. I was about 9 or 10, and had a blast! We went back at least once after that. Thanks for sharing the memories!
I was 9 years old when this was filmed and at the time my oldest sister was married to Sammy Davis Jr's cousin and we used to drive to Vegas quite a bit. We were never told up front we were going so that we would go to bed as normal but, got woken up in the middle of the night to pile into the station wagon. Once on the road we fell back asleep and the adults didn't have to listen to us. Ingenious. Anyway, seeing the Sammy sign at The Sands and seeing Circus Circus brought back memories.

@@davestewart2067 I think it was about that time. That just reminded me of when I played in the last Mark and Brian celebrity golf tournament in Southern Cal about 15 or more years ago. I met Steve Lukather of Toto and his golf bag had The Candyman and a big candy cane on it. I told him about my brother-in-law and said if he ever got rid of that bag I would love to have first dibs to bring it back to the family. No luck on that to this day.

When I moved there with my mother we lived in an apartment so there was a gang of kids we all hung together all those years up through high School and all of the kids were from somewhere else Vegas was too new I guess you could say for the kids to have been born there yet everybody had come from somewhere else and it's such a simple little town. those were the best years of my life in that little town of Vegas. We used to cruise Fremont Street when I was in high school.

Flew to Las Vegas to visit my friends on Hughes Airwest Airlines .
Only cost my $29.00 to fly to Las Vegas from Ontario, California 45 minute flight .

This was almost 10 years before I was born but I appreciate how every casino/resort was its own majestic property. Not shoved in between 5 different skyscrapers with an M&M's store and a Burger King at the front door. Casino entrances in this video had men in tuxedos opening the door for you to make you feel like a star, valet parking, waiters offering a cigar and a refill for your flask. I wish I had been alive to experience Vegas that way.
Yes, it was great then! There were NO chain restaurants/coffee bars inside the casinos! It seemed like it was an unwritten rule or maybe a point of pride? Each casino had its own personality before they started building theme park-like monstrosities!!

I know that's a lot deeper into "modern times" but that was the last time Vegas had that familiar nostalgic "feel". Now it just feels like going to L.A. with casinos.

I was there in around 1972 to 1974, and stayed at a place called the Marina Hotel. I don't
know if it still exists, but someone told me awhile ago, it was torn down and rebuilt. I was
with my girlfriend, and we stayed at her aunts house in Santa Monica, very close to the beach.
All I can say is I remember some fancier buildings, and I believe I played poker or black jack
at the MGM, which stood out from other places, and was quite fancy. Haven't been back tho.

OMG, looking at Vegas forty years ago, holy cow, check out all the signs of businesses and stuff that no longer exist, ENCO, Sambos restaurant, the low cost of things, how nice to rent a car for $9 a day, .09 a mile, that's the good old days, the cars were big and looking good, what a time the early seventies, the strip was way different than today, wish we could go back to those days, a less expensive world!!!!

I went to the airport to head back home from my business trip. There was a nickel slot machine ( remember those ) so I put 5 cents in and won 95 cents before my flight left for home . I went out a winner ( so to speak ) ! 😂

I was around 12 when this old Vegas scene was filmed. I remember it looking like what is depicted in this video. My SoCal Pop Warner Pee Wee team went to Vegas to play a post season match up with a team from here that very same year! Doesn't look anything like this anymore!
So with that said was there a lot of young people going to vegas back then.

First visit to Vegas was back in 1985. I moved here in 2000. This video was so awesome to see, what a great post KG's old home movies. I don't recall what that huge white water fall was at 0.25 seconds but WOW. I would love to see that today, something about that just draws me in.

I went to Vegas in 1963 when I was a kid. We stayed at the Sands I think but I remember there were no tall building back then it was basically flat . There was the flamingo and the Sands and probably the stuff on Fremont of course but the strip seemed like a bunch of small motels. Now its unrecognizable man.
Elvis played many shows from 1969 to 1976....best times!!
I couldn't care less about the Las Vegas strip, but looking closely at all those beautiful cars of the '60s era is the stuff dreams are made of. I saw a 60s or 70 Mustang oncoming, glimpses of like an older GTO or 442, and a few 1960ish Chevys and pickups. But no luck on spotting a Shelby Cobra or Dodge Daytona - they would have been the real things, not kits or "tributes".

I remember driving the strip in 1972 while on a week end vacation. When you went to a show you had to wear a suit and tie. We stayed at the Algiers on the strip.
I remember all of this. Dunes, Sands, Ceasar’s , Thunderbird, Circus Circus and the Stardust. Howard Hughes was their.
Thank you for bringing this video to light. 1974 I was a teenager visiting VEGAS for the first time with my Mom, and another couple. We stayed at THE HILTON INTERNATIONAL 3000 Paradise blvd. [ now the WESTGATE ] And although I was allowed in the casinos, I could not play the slots. We saw Bobby Darrin at the Hilton, and Don Rickles at the RIVIERA. I visit Vegas two or three times a year, and I am still energized, and amazed at this legendary town. Last month I saw the all new RESORST WORLD newest property with its tri-tower design and probably the hottest night club on the strip. It stands about where THE STARDUST used to. Still need to go to LAKE LAS VEGAS. Can't wait to go back in early 2022.

I wish I knew the exact date this was taken. On Friday September 1st,1972, I flew out to Vegas to see my older sister. We drove around in her yellow Volkswagen. I spent all 4 minutes and 21 seconds looking for it. I'd flip if I had seen it.
