How to MAKE a Lo-Fi MICROPHONE from a TELEPHONE

In this video, we turn an old telephone handset into a funky stereo microphone. A quirky feature of this microphone is that we will be using both the microphone and the speaker from the handset to turn it into a microphone that can be used in both mono and stereo.

Can you use a 3.5mm jack instead of an xlr?

how do you know which wire to solder to which wire in the xlr cable? like each has 2 wires but what if you connect them to the wrong one, isn't there some problems with positives and negatives?
