I have 3 of the Holdorf editions. The Stand, The Shining, and Salem's Lot. They look cool next to each other. Finding Carrie in this edition has been a huge challenge along with Pet Cemetary. I have them on display on top of my Stephen King filled bookshelves.

Nice! They do look cool as a matching set.

These are the same three I have. I also have Night Shift. Would be nice to have more of the books with this look, its a great look.

Thank you so much for making this video! I like the Holdorf covers and I was surprised there were “newer” ones. I figured places like amazon and target used stock photos for those hardcovers, but to my surprise Holdorf editions of Carrie, Salem’s Lot, Night Shift, The Stand, and The Shining came in brand new! I guess they’re still in print? Thanks!

Thanks for the comment! I think they may still be in print, which would make them the longest-lived version of all.

I have a Phiesen edition of Carrie and it has a number line that goes down to 2. Obviously it isn't the true second printing of Carrie, so they must have reset the number line when they reissued those titles in 1990. While I don't know for certain, my best guess is they did not reset the number line when they changed from the Phiesen artwork to the Holdorf artwork. The artwork changes for paperback books on a regular basis, and they don't reset the number line every time they change the artwork of those books, so I assume the same would hold true for the hardcovers. Then again, different publishers may have different policies on that sort of thing.

Thank you so much! That is very interesting. Lends credence to the idea that Phiesen may be the second edition, and Holdorf just a different style and printing of that second edition. The Phiesen books are truly a completely new experience - new trim size, style, design, etc. But Holdorf in some cases is just a new dust jacket.
I really appreciate you sharing some context on this!

Hi. What is the bookshelf system behind you? Custom made, Ikea?

Ikea IVAR system. Very lightweight, strong, adjustable. I love them! I covered each shelf with clear contact paper to protect the books, and they have worked beautifully.
