  • A review and instructional video on the Trailer Valet XL. I use the Valet to move my 7200 LBS travel trailer into a awkward spot between my house and retaining wall. Overall the product is solid and saves me from frustration of backing in the trailer with a truck.

    Good review. We bought one in the last 2 months to move our Wildcat Maxx trailer (similar weight and length) . We needed to move the trailer to leave room on the side for slideouts. I agree with your assessment of pros and cons on the Valet XL. Glad to see my tires aren't the only ones leaving marks on the concrete. The price for this sure beat out some of the other items out there to do the same job.

    Do you have to adjust the ball collar every time you attach it? Seems tedious to attach it to the trailer if that’s the case

    • @metzbeadventurous46
      @metzbeadventurous46  3 роки тому +1

      Yes you do, you have to tighten so there isn’t a lot of play when the trailer is moving. I usually leave it attached in between trips with the camper.

      Friendly PSA. The collar must be installed with the lip toward the camper.

    The problem with the drill attachment is you are using a dewalt buy any other other brand and u should be ok I prefer Milwaukee or Makita pretty much everything I buy now is Milwaukee but I'm still a big fan of Makita also never had no issues

    You buy a house… only to want to get out of the house for another house on wheels to go camping? Crazy Americans.

      A house gains appreciation over time in the future to sell whereas a "house on the wheel" does not.

      It's called leisure. Who wants to sit in their house 365 days a year. Many of us have the luxury of expendable money to spend on travel to see our vast country, where most of our single states are bigger than entire countries overseas. RVs, Motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, second homes for vacationing....lots of "crazy Americans" have luxuries that go mostly unused throughout the year. Not being poor is kind of nice, should we be sorry for that?

      Yes, I noticed this here and in other videos. Maybe he could commment how long it takes him to wheel it back in? I'm looking at one of the electric models as an alternative. About four times the price, but it would be worth it to avoid the back breaking hand cranking.

    Or I could just back my trailer in the time it took you to set that thing up, I also wouldn’t wear my arm out!! This looks ridiculous to me!! No disrespect to you at all, but holy crap!!

      Depends on how tight the driveway is. If you don't have room because of a ditch or tree, or if you need trailer to go in front ways instead of backing in.

      I've a tight driveway in one spot and cannot maneuver my 20' long F350 dually along with my 20' trailer. I've had to use my son's short wheelbase Bronco or a tractor. The Trailer Valet lets me get it 90% there with my truck and then fine parking with the T.V.

    Only on pavement. No good on packed gravel or grass. Nightmare on grass. I had to use a tow strap and pull the dolly using my SUV.

      I have seen people use plywood on surfaces other than pavement. Also I know it’s a very expensive investment but Trailer Valet has a RVR motorized unit with treads.

    I have the Trailer Valet 5x. I bought a Hercules Harbor Freight 20V drill and it moves my Boston Whaler 17cc up the drive way. Slight incline, so far so good.

    Very helpful video. We recently purchased a trailer and bit off more than we could chew. By that I mean our parking spot is super tight (literally inches on either side) so backing it in and pulling it out has been extremely challenging. I'd be interested to know your thoughts on how the unit is holding up, how it's performing after more use, and if there is anything you would warn a potential buyer about purchasing this tool. We're ready to purchase but I'm doing my homework before I make the investment. Also, why do you choose to use the manual crank rather than using the drill?

    • @metzbeadventurous46
      @metzbeadventurous46  3 роки тому +2

      I have had the Valet for over a year now and it has help up great. As far as the manual crank, I have a slight grade to my drive. When using it to pull the camper out the drill doesn’t always have a enough torque. When backing it in I feel like a have much more control with the hand crank.

    I have one of these and for what I use it for it works flawless. I've made 3 videos using it here's the last one ua-cam.com/video/y29qk8Ftwyk/v-deo.html Moving a 6x12 cargo trailer with a cheap very old B&D 18V drill motor to park backwards in the back yard so I can load the trailer without having to pull it out. Then I use the trailer valet to move the trailer to the driveway for hook up. I have yet to use it on my travel trailer (similar in size to yours). I'm able to back that trailer right in to it's resting spot. You did a nice job on this video.

    If there’s a slight incline, will the trailer move in the direction of the incline where U may not be able to stop it from moving 😮 or do the tires only move if U crank it “which is crazy” or use the drill & socket to move it ? 🤔

      @@metzbeadventurous46 I'm a little concerned about the fact that using a recommended dewalt cordless doesn't have enough torque. I'd be moving this into the garage by myself... Single lady. I built a new garage as an investment for my trailer (a mobile boutique) and the guys hand-backed it in back in December, with literally 5 inches on the driver's side against the garage wall. No, no more room to spare. Even though I had an apron poured in front of the garage, I can't back it up so close to the wall where it must be. Garage sits on an alley and I just can't cut it.

    • @metzbeadventurous46
      @metzbeadventurous46  2 роки тому

      I have trouble with the dewalt cordless drill because my drive way is a slight incline. Also I have a smaller drill. I think they make a Trailervalet that had a higher power drill included.

  • @r0bd
    @r0bd Рік тому

    When the tires spin, is it when pushing the trailer or pulling? I’ve read a number of comments about them slipping when dealing with inclines, but wasn’t sure if it was happening to folks when they were trying to push or pull.
    In my expected use case, I would be pushing it while needing to traverse up the apron/entryway to my driveway as my street is too narrow to allow backing in the trailer using my tow vehicle.
